GCobb.com 2010 NFL Mock Draft Number 11

The Philadelphia Eagles traded for Darryl Tapp with the thought that he and Juqua Parker on the left side have a chance of doing the job, but they also believe in taking the best football player on the board.

That’s why we have them selecting Sergio Kindle of Texas because he could help them both as a linebacker and put his hand down on third down and go get the quarterback.

His versatility would give defensive coordinator the ability to show offenses all types of looks.

The Eagles still believe that you should try to address your needs on the offensive and defensive lines first if you can.  After that they will deal with need elsewhere.

Realistically, we think the Eagles are going to move up and grab one of the top rated defensive backs in this draft.¬†¬† We think it will either be one of the two corners or one of the top two safeties, but we don’t get into trades in these mock drafts.

Join the GCobb.com crew at 7pm on Monday night at P.J. Whelihan’s on Rte. 70 in Cherry Hill.¬† We’ll be talking about the Eagles draft decisiions and giving away prizes as well as giving you a chance to tell us what you think the Eagles will do or should do.

GCobb.com Mock Draft #11
1.    St. Louis Rams – Sam Bradford, QB
РBradford will be the guy, but Rams could trade down.  Teams rave about his accuracy and poise.
2.    Detroit Lions – Ndamukong Suh, DT РI don’t think you can lose with Suh or McCoy.  He reminds some of Minnesota defensive tackle Kevin Williams.
3.¬†¬† ¬†Tampa Bay Buccaneers ‚Äì Gerald McCoy, DT – Bucs want shot at one of the DT‚Äôs.¬† He’s a perfect fit the Bucs three technique defensive tackle.
4.¬†¬† ¬†Washington Redskins ‚Äì Russell Okung, OT – Skins must replace Samuels.¬† Okung is the best offensive tackle in the draft and he’s ready to play right now.
5.    Kansas City Chiefs – Eric Berry, S – He’s a special player with whole package.  Berry can play near the line or in deep centerfield and still make plays.
6.¬†¬† ¬†Seattle Seahawks ‚Äì Trent Williams, OT ‚Äì Replacement for Pro Bowl OT Walter Jones.¬† Williams is the most athletic of this year’s offensive tackles.
7.    Cleveland Browns – Joe Haden, CB – He’s the best corner in the draft who will step in and play immediately.  Haden will cover and tackle.
8.¬†¬† ¬†Oakland Raiders ‚Äì Bruce Campbell, OT ‚Äì A mistake but he was a combine sensation.¬† He’s an athletic marvel but is not a good offensive tackle. He could develop but it will take time.
9.    Buffalo Bills – Jimmy Clausen, QB – Chan Gailey doesn’t trust Trent Edwards.  Clausen has the arm and the intelligence to go there and play right now.
10.¬†¬† ¬†Jacksonville Jaguars ‚Äì Jason Pierre-Paul, DE ‚Äì Must improve worst pass rush in NFL.¬† He’s raw but his motor is great and he’s got the tools to be great.
11.    Denver Broncos – Dez Bryant, WR – Replacement for Pro Bowl WR Brandon Marshall.  He will dominate but like Marshall, he may have problems off the field.
12.¬†¬† ¬†Miami Dolphins ‚Äì Dan Williams, NT ‚Äì Jason Ferguson suspended for first 8 games.¬† He’s an ideal replacement for Ferguson, who may not get his job back.
13.    San Francisco 49ers – C.J. Spiller, RB – Success of Chris Johnson will make him go higher. Spiller will help them immediately by causing matchup problems when he runs routes out of the backfield.
14.    Seattle Seahawks – Kyle Wilson, CB – He will greatly improve their secondary. Wilson is a complete player who will cover and tackle.
15.¬†¬† ¬†New York Giants ‚Äì Rolando McClain, MLB ‚Äì He‚Äôll replace Antonio Pierce in the middle.¬† He’ll be a great one because he plays the pass so well.
16.    San Francisco 49ers – Bryan Bulaga, OT – They’ll get an anchor on the O line.  This young man is ready to play right now.
17.    Tennessee Titans – Derrick Morgan, DE – They lost Jevon Kearse and Kyle Vanden Bosch. Morgan has a great motor and plays the run as well as the pass.
18.    Pittsburgh Steelers – Mike Iupati, OG – He’s another Alan Faneca on the O-line.  Iupati is a mauler and battler who will fit in great with the Steelers return to the ground game.
19.    Atlanta Falcons – Earl Thomas, FS – They’ll utilizing his playmaking ability.  Thomas will play right away and get his hands on the football.
20.¬†¬† ¬†Houston Texans ‚Äì Devin McCourty, CB ‚Äì Brought in replace Dunta Robinson.¬† McCourty will get the chance to play right away.¬† We’ll see if he’s up to it.
21.    Cincinnati Bengals – Arrelius Benn, WR РThey need some deep speed at WR.  I think it will take some time for him to adjust to the pro style passing game, but he has the ability to excel.
22.¬†¬† ¬†New England Patriots ‚Äì Brandon Graham, DE/LB ‚Äì Their pass rush needs help. Graham doesn’t have the burst around the corner that you would like, but he plays as hard as anybody in this draft.
23.¬†¬† ¬†Green Bay Packers ‚Äì Jared Odrick, DE ‚Äì He will improve their ¬æ defense.¬† He’s a perfect five technique end for the 3-4 defense.
24.¬†¬† ¬†Philadelphia Eagles ‚Äì Sergio Kindle, DE/LB ‚Äì He’s an outstanding pass¬† rusher with versatility.¬† They can line this kid up all over the place.¬† He can beat the best offensive tackle in the league on a pass rush and run with any tight end in the league as well.
25.    Baltimore Ravens – Jermaine Gresham, TE – They improved the WR’s, now a young TE.  Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome who was a Hall of Fame tight end, will appreciate what this young man brings to the table.
26.    Arizona Cardinals – Taylor Mays, S – Replacement for safety Antrel Rolle.  Mays is intent on proving he can do it all and I think they can move him around because of his amazing combination of size and speed.
27.    Dallas Cowboys – Sean Weatherspoon, LB – Heir apparent to Keith Brookings.  Weatherspoon is a gifted football player with ability to excel in run and pass defense as well as deliver violent hits.  He will make the Dallas front seven even better.
28.¬†¬† ¬†San Diego Chargers ‚Äì Brian Price, NT ‚Äì He will replace Pro Bowl NT Jamal Williams.¬† Price will step in and their defense won’t miss a beat. He’ll do a great job against double teams with his strength and quickness.
29.    New York Jets –Jerry Hughes, DE/LB – He’ll greatly improve their pass rush.  Hughes has great motor and displays outstanding quickness and speed coming around the corner.  His ability to stand up or put his hand down will give Rex Ryan the option of playing him all over.
30.    Minnesota Vikings – Patrick Robinson, CB – Viking CB’s have trouble against speed.  Robinson will help them right away because he has the speed to turn and run with the faster wide receivers in the league.  This young man is also willing to support against the run.
31.    Indianapolis Colts – Anthony Davis, OT – They need better protection for Manning.  His stock has been falling because of off the field issues but this kid is one of the better offensive tackles in this draft.  The structure in Indy will help him mature quickly.
32.    New Orleans Saints – Everson Griffen, DE – He will improve their pass rush.  New Orleans cut Charles Grant so they need a pass rushing end opposite Will Smith.  Griffen is the guy.

I do not believe we will take Kindle, too similiar of an experiment as Gocong. We do not play a 3-4 system, which Kindle would truly excel as OLB/DE. I’d like to see Iupati at Guard or Earl Thomas or one of the many CBs. However, i believe we will have to trade up in order to grab these guys. No reason not to think that we couldnt trade our original 2nd rd pick and first rd and move up in the top 15. We’ll see what happens these mock drafts are almost worthless bc nobody can predict but so addicting as well.

Kindle is not on the Eagles list unless the corners and safeties the eagles have ranked higher are gone. Kindle is fit for a 3-4 scheme. Maybe the Eagles should switch to a 3-4. Most teams use it and seem to be more successful than a 4-3. I want Taylor Mays, I think he will be the next big thing. He can cover Tightends and also knock some people’s heads off. He may turn into a Linebacker but thats alright, then he can play outside somewhere and run like the wind

If he is so outstanding, why would he last to 24?

I will guarantee you that the Kansas City Cheifs will not take Eric Berry at number 5.

No chance the team pays top 5 money to a safety. I love Berry as much as the next guy but I think he is going to fall to #7 (browns) or #10 (jax)

I think a lot of top 5-6 teams in the Draft would love to trade down this year ,but probably won’t find many suitors to trade with..
The players talent level from picks #20-#100 are still very good that the it makes sense to have as many picks in this range as possible which the Eagles,Browns & Patriots all do and I am sure will take advantage of.. I would rather the Eagles use all of their picks (8 out of the top# 137 players) and select 6 on the Defense side at CB/S/LB/DL and use the other 2 picks on OL/QB instead of trying to move up for that 1 player or 2 and cost them 2-3 additional picks..The Defense needs many players so I say draft in volume and get them in here…

Paul Mancini I agree with your break down. I would also try and move vets and a future pick or two to move up or down. Heck if they were really adventurous maybe move next years 1 and 3 for another 1 this year. Imagine getting Pouncey and Thomas/Griffen in this years draft. Besides if this year is so deep because of all the juniors next years draft figures to be quite a bit lighter on talent right.

This site has really gone down hill. It seems like all G does is mock drafts anymore, where are the scoops like how the Eagles were working on a long term contract with Kolb even though the 30% rule hinders a real extension. I used to get mad when Eskin would rip G but I can now see why he does it.

Just thinking how the recent trades this week with the Jets picking up WR S Holmes and Dolphins getting WR B Marshall and just today the 49ers obtaining WR/KR T Ginn Jr on how this impacts the Early rounds…
Lots of Draft-Geeks were thinking the 49ers of selecting RB/KR CJ Spiller or the Jets selecting
WR G Tate and the Dolphins possibly selecting WR D Bryant .. Now this players may fall and be selected by a team who may hav egrabbed someone strongly liked by the Eagles so now maybe
a Iuapati, D Morgan,E Thomas start to fall back towards the Eagles choice at #24

Im going on record the sleeper pick of the draft is Todd Tompkins! He would look good in Eagle Green.
