Eagles Defense Stays Ahead Of Offense As Mini Camp Concludes

Asante Samuel was as loud as usual today, as the Eagles defense got the best of the offense again. It’s not unusual for offenses to be out of sync around this time of year.

The Birds worked on their redzone offense today and it was another tough workout for the Eagles number one offense.

Numerous times during the period, quarterback Kevin Kolb had to pull the ball down and run with it because there was nobody open.

He had a number of passes to tight end Brent Celek broken up by middle linebacker Stewart Bradley, who is moving very well in his first team workouts after last year’s knee surgery.

Bradley put the blanket on Celek all afternoon as they were matched up one-on-one quite a few times in the red zone drills.

The one time Kolb’s pass did get through to Celek, he dropped it.

He was able to the ball to DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin on some short throws.

On another play, Kolb tried to throw a quick screen on the five yard line in their red zone work, but safety Quintin Mikell jumped in front of it, picked it off and took it back for a score.

Surprisingly the most successful quarterback in the drills today was probably rookie Mike Kafka, who hit rookie tight end Clay Harbor three times for scores. Harbor was taking advantage of the backup middle linebackers in the red zone drills.

Second team quarterback Michael Vick seems to be regaining his speed. He’s still have trouble scanning the entire field when operating the offense but we’re starting to see the old Michael Vick when he pulls the ball down.

It looks like he’s running at a different speed when he takes off.

Big rookie wide receiver Riley Cooper took a pass away from a defender in the end zone. This young man has great size for a wide out and I could them utilizing him in the red zone.

Smallish wide out Chad Hall from Air Force made an outstanding acrobatic catch in the endzone for a touchdown. Afterwards he said he’s picking up the offense quickly and working hard to get used to catch the ball again after years of inactivity.

It’s good to read that Bradley is moving well. He’s such a huge piece of the puzzle.

I love this team. 10 wins wouldn’t surprise me but neither would 6. Either way we win a super bowl in 3 years.

Im sure everyone knows this but that Clay Harbor kid was the strongest TE in the draft. He threw up 225 like 33 times or something nuts like that. Also selecting a QB in the 4th rd. is nothing to blow off. The Eagles musta liked this Kafka fella.

10 wins lol hahah thats a joke…hey stockroyal your boy kolb keeps throwing interceptions like this your looking at 6 wins! He does this all the time in practice. Same with last year. There is no way in HELL this team wins 10 games this season. Im willing to bet my 1k on it! Look at the schedule! Im am always very optimistic but lets be honest here

Kolb controls the ball: 10-6 or better
Kolb keeps throwing picks: terrible season

In his limited playing time he’s thrown a lot of picks. I’m worried about that but I hope it’s something he can learn to do better.
