Ellis Hobbs Is Done For The Year And Should Retire

Eagles cornerback and kick returner Ellis Hobbs is done for the season.  Andy Reid told everybody yesterday that he has some damage to a disc in his neck and back area.

There’s no way Hobbs should be out there playing.  This is the same area which he had problems in last year.

That was a vicious hit he took on Sunday night, which could wind up being the last play of his career.

This is solely my opinion, but if I had damage to a disc in my neck and back area, which has to involve the spinal column, I would retire immediately.  If he’s looking at things clearly, Hobbs should retire rather than risk being paralyzed.

Your spinal column has all the nerves to your upper and lower body which allow you to move.  If you damage those nerves you can’t move.  Hobbs needs to hang it up.

There’s not enough money to pay him to risk being paralyzed.

His agent, Kevin Omell told Philly.com that Hobbs is examining his options.

“He’s doing fine,” Omell said. “He’s walking around. He’s just going to take the next few days to rest and figure out what his future may be.”

Agrree 100%,
I thought it was risky when he came back this summer and was playing after having Neck Surgery in te off-season, he’s a tough guy and I give him credit for working, rehabbing hard to get back to the level of playing again, but now, with this new injury, I think he seriously needs to consder retiring so he can enjoy the rest of his life. I wish him and his family well, for he was a trooper, a good teammate, and always a pro and a man about things after the good games and bad .. Maybe he can assist in Coaching and work with the young players in the Secondary & Special teams to be around the team for the reaminder of the season..

I agree G, just as I believed that BWest should have retired last year after the multiple head injuries.

When you play a sport as a warrior it is very difficult, as I am sure you know firsthand G, to decide to move on, however after a serious injury occurs to the neck twice within a year someone close to him should step in and give him some longterm advice.

If anyone saw Brian Dawkins attempt to play Safety (Pass Cover and Tackle) in the NFL last evening,
He’s the next that needs to retire, he just can’t keep up as he’s gotten older.
He needs to get out whlie he still has his health and can enjoy his post-football life

The first thing I thought when they said Hobbs had a neck injury is that he should retire
I am with G on this

Another neck injury and being a complete paralysis is not worth it
