Cutler Didn’t Take Elevator But Walked Up The Stairs After The Game

Everybody has been going after Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler. You know how all of his fellow players were firing verbal bullets at him on Twittter during the game.

On Monday Cutler was diagnosed with a Grade Two MCL sprain, which is no simple injury.  I think that Cutler’s body language on the sideline and the fact that the Bears took their time letting Joe Buck and Troy Aikman know why he wasn’t in the game, was probably the worst part.

If they had come out right away and said that Cutler had injured his knee and was taken out of the game, the criticism wouldn’t have been so loud.

The Chicago Tribune published a story on Monday which isn’t going to help Cutler put this story to bed. The paper went so far as to reveal where Cutler and his girlfriend went to eat after the game and how Cutler was treating his leg.

According to the Tribune, Cutler and his girlfriend, Kristin Cavallari, who starred in MTV reality shows, “Laguna Beach” and “The Hills,” ate dinner at Mastro’s Steakhouse on Sunday after sitting out the second half of the Bears loss to the Packers in the NFC Championship game.

The Tribune‘s source said Cutler  “limped a tiny bit,” when he came into the restaurant.  Cutler and Cavallari were joined by 11 other folks in the private dining room upstairs.

Of course they had to make it public that Cutler didn’t take the elevator upstairs, he decided to walk up the stairs.

To add more insult to Cutler, we’ve learned that Saints quarterback Drew Brees played six games in 2010 with the same injury.  His fullback Heath Evans was on ESPN earlier this week and he let the cat out of the bag when he talked about Brees playing with the same injury.

Now NewOrleans.com has done a story on Brees playing with the injury.  I know Cutler’s Bears teammates won’t like reading that.

I am not a Cutler fan at all however he was damned if he did damned if he didnt.

If he had gone back in and played and because of the injury taken another hit that ended his career by really busting his knee beyond repair Fans would be calling for his head, the coaches head and the medical staff’s head.

By not playing he is called weak by others not involved (big deal)

I agree they should have been quicker with the info but maybe they wanted to keep the packers thinking he was going to come back in. Who knows – Who really cares? EAGLES fans? Hahhahah.

As for the stairs and dinner -What ever- there is a huge difference between navigating stairs and going to dinner and playing quarterback in an NFL championship game. ( I think- I am not really qualified to comment as I have never played in an NFL championship game but if going up and down stairs is the measure of health and talent – I want a contract and a chance at lehigh- Hell I spent a ton of time running the stairs in high school and the Army so maybe I would be great:) )

The Easiset way for the the Coach, the Player and his teammates would have been to send him to the locker room and watch the remainder of the game from there… The lackadasical, who cares smirk that he has did him no favors and If I am the Coach and I know he’s out for the game, I put him in the
lockeroom for the duration just to not have this circus and distraction going on around my sidelines during a CHampionship game if I am the coach.. Ot at least put him in Street clothers and maybe he can assist the young QB in reading plays, the pixctures, but to sit there like he was looking completely disinterested is on him and the Coach for allowing that to happen….
