Schefter: At least three teams mulling deal for Kolb

The Philadelphia Eagles will be hurt as much or more than any team in the NFL if a new CBA isn’t done by draft day. Absent a CBA, they can’t move Kevin Kolb and if they can’t do it for draft picks this year, then they might as well keep him around another year.

However, if a new agreement is in place, it seems that there won’t be a shortage of suitors for the former second-round draft pick. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, “at least three teams” are considering making a deal for Kolb.

“Teams still can discuss deals, just can’t complete them (like NBA in June). At least three teams debating deals for Eagles QB Kevin Kolb,” Schefter tweets.

Rotoworld thinks that the 49ers, Titans, Cardinals and Redskins should be in the hunt. Really? The Redskins? Fool me twice, shame on me? Whatever.

Either way, this is good news for the Eagles, who could be looking at quite a haul for a guy that hasn’t proven he can be a good NFL quarterback on a consistent basis. Now, they just need to get that CBA done. Kolb could go a long way towards fixing holes on this roster.

CALL ME WRONG:
????? The Titans would want Kolb after what they saw last season against him???????
Maybe a different system can help him prevail…… What ever the titans offer for him…….. It is what it is…… Just hope the CBA can reach a deal!!!

Stop with the exaggeration that the Eagles would be hurt more than any other team. All teams would be hurt and the Eagles wouldn’t be hurt just because of Kolb. For one that assumes they actually won’t be stubborn and overprice Kolb and trade him anyway. I think they have to move him even if they can’t until after the draft because holding on to him does nothing for you next year but him walking for free. So if anything they may have to let him go for cheaper OR not see the draft picks until next year. I don’t have any faith they could do anything good with the draft picks to help (especially the defense) this year anyway.

Back door deal

Im not sure why this is not being talked about more but….. if a deal is not done by draft day look for the birds to make a deal AFTER the draft. It would be very very easy to do and im not sure at this point of it would be against the rules in any way.

I will say this again….. Kevin Kolb will be out of here by the start of the reg season. The FO is not going to let a player with this much stock sit on the bench for a year only to walk away with no strings at all.

I think the Eagles keep (Kolb) in 2010

For those that think all doors would be closed off and noone will be talking to eachother just look at what weve learned as of late….

1) Playerss like Vick and Brady are organizing team workouts and such.
2) qb’s are getting playbooks and working with coaches even now.

Things to consider…… Coaches are stuck in the middle on this one. I bet they side both ways. So…. they are still thinking about being better next year… not trying to stick it to the man.

My biggest point- A coach who is also the GM may have a bit more power here because they can strike backdoor deals almost entirely on their own.

Paulman; the eagles did keep Kolb in 2010. In 2011 they will trade him if there is a CBA before the draft. My guess is they could land: Patrick Peterson, Von Miller, or Nick Fairly (assuming that Bowers and Darius plus the 2 QBs go in the top 4).

A deal will be reached…. Kolb will be gone and we will continue to rebuild this D and this Oline. I expect the birds to upgrade several spots this off season and for them to win 10 or 11 games, win the Div and go deep into the playoffs. But this only happens IF….. they get NEW starters in these areas from FA or Draft

CB (on the right side)
CB( nickle to compete with TL in camp)
RG or RT

lso look foor the birds to add depth in the draft for SS, and LB spots.

Shefter says the Eagles could wind up with a top 10 pick….meaning after Newton and Gabbert go top 5, the Cardinals, Titans and 49ers will want a QB to win now, not a project in round 2 or 3… if that happens, then WOW! I would hope for Peterson, Fairley or Quinn to be there

Micah that was a cheap shot. “fool me twice”? I could have told the Redskins Mcnabb sucks but why are you hating on Kolb? If you give Kolb the opportunity Mcnabb had, and I say he gets us a superbowl win. I think he’s the next Aaron Rodgers.

I don’t see the Titans or Cardinals giving up their 1st Round Draft Selections,
maybe their 2nd Round Selection and another pick (3rd or 4th rounder for 2012).
The 49ers have 10 total selections in the 2011 Draft and would be the only team I could possibly see trading away a high 1st Round pick for Kolb.

I could see the 49ers trading thier 1st (#7th Overall), their 3rd (#70 Overall)
and their 2nd 4th Round Pick (#125 Overall) to the Eagles for Kolb and the Eagles 1st pick (#23rd overall) which basically means the Eagles move up a 1/2 a round in the 1st and get a 3rd & 4th for Kolb and the 49ers get their QB and still get a 1st Rd Pick (#23 Rd) so it’s a win-win for everyone

Id be suprised if kolb gets moved. The birds need him as an insurance policy if vick goes down. Unless and this is a huge unless, kafka is ready to be a backup and ready to start and I doubt that he is but I could be wrong.

Hey i d like to see kolb go for some high picks too but I don’t see it happening unless 1.kafka is ready 2. they can sign a vet qb that is servicable and knows the west coast offense 3. They get blown away with a deal by someone desperate for a qb

Can’t teams make deals and give the players to respective teams once free agency begins if there’s no immediate CBA deal?

Example….If San Fran want Kolb and is willing to swap picks with the Eagles and give up a 3rd rounder..Can’t they just swap picks and do the rest once the CBA deal is done.

paulman

No player movement until a new “CBA” is in place SOngs as far as I understand.. Now whether there are conversations behind closed doors or not, I am sure that there is, but the NFL has clealry stated that there will be no trades, no free-agency signings or player movement until a CBA is in place..
Bottom line is that unless a CBA is in place by the Draft (end of April) then
Kolb is most likely stuck in Philly for the 2011 Season and his Value would have Peaked and Dropped by the Summer time since teams in need of a QB have already addressed thir QB with the Draft. If Kolb is traded let’s say in the Summer, than any draft picks the Eagles would get in return won’t be until the the 2012 Draft, so if they aren’t going to get help this year by trading him this year, then they may as well keep him is probably the Eagles logic based on his relatively cheap Salary and in case Vick were to get a major injury…

Kolb the next Aaron Rodgers? LOL some people are complete dumb asses!

There are some FA QB’s that should be available…
Dennis Dixon
Matt Leinert
Tavaris Jackson
Alex Smith
list is a lot longer…

Trade Kolb and pick up a free agent QB as backup!

**Trade Alert**

Eagles Trade QB K KOlb and DT M Patterson to the Seattle Seahawks
for their 2nd Round pick in 2011 (#49th Overall) & 4th Rd Pick in 2012 Draft along with Starting OLB Aaron Curry (6-2 255lbs) who was the 4th Overall pick in the 1st Round in the 2009 Draft. Curry came on mid-late season last year after a slow start in Seattle and finally started playing up to his potential
Seahawks needs DT’s and Patterson was recruited by and played for HC Pete Carroll when they were both at USC.. A win, win for everyone..

RTB – you answered your own question – the plurality of individuals that post on this site are in fact football illiterat They have no understanding or comprehension of the game. They know two simple facts, that the eagles haven’t won a super bowl and that Andy Ried is overweight. Kolb will be an excellent QB in this league. When given a chance, he has proven he can perform as an effective QB in this league. Kolb has more offensive player of the week awards then Ryan Leif, Jamarcus Russell, Matt Leinhart, Brady Quinn, Carson Palmer, Jimmy Clausen and countless other 1st rd pick ‘franchise QBs’ combined. But becuase he hasn’t been an All-Pro or threatened the elite status of Tom Brady or Peyton Manning, he must be a low life bum that was a wasted draft pick. As for comparisons to Aaron Rodgers – remember the first year he started the packers went 6-10 but that would require people to know football – it was his second year as a full time starter they made the playoffs….

RuntheBall and NavyEagle

Would you bet your life that Kolb is going to be an All Pro QB? would you bet your life that Kolb is going to be as good as Aaron Rodgers? Kolb is overrated and never deserved being given the keys to the franchise. Just because Aaoron Rodgers had a 6 -10 record then made the playoffs the next, that means squat for Kolb. You two are either in love with Kolb or dont know a damn thing about football. Kolb isn’t terrible but there are alot of FA QB’s that can be just as productive on the Eagles with the weapons we have!
