Right now, Taylor Mays seems to be the guy for which everyone in Philly is clamoring. Everyone wants that "Dawkins clone" and is completely forgetting that free safety is about third on the list of problem areas for the Eagles' defense.
Cornelius Ingram may have had the highest expectations of any fifth round pick ever taken by this team -- or any team for that fact.
Like last week, this is absolutely a must-win game for the Birds. In fact, every game from now on is a "must-win" game because teams like the Packers and Falcons are just waiting for the Eagles to lose and gain more of a foothold in the NFC wildcard race.
The Eagles are heading into their second game of a three-game stretch that many, myself included, believe will tell the story of the Eagles' entire 2009 season.
There's no doubt that a win over a division opponent after the putrid game against the Raiders would certainly help this team to rebound.
Apart from Saints game, doesn't it seem like the Eagles are still in the preseason?
There was a lot working in favor of the Eagles today. First off, Andy Reid and his teams do not lose after the bye week.
Coming off an embarrassing Week Two loss to Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints, the Eagles are looking to rebound against a Kansas City team in shambles.
Getting a win in Week 1 is vital, but getting a win in Week 2 can start a roll that can last deep into the season. Every season at least one team does it, and both of these teams are prime candidates to get on such a roll.
Week One can be the most important game of the entire
year for a football team. For example, Eagles fans will remember Week One of the
2007 season as the game that doomed the Eagles for the year but sent the Green
Bay Packers to the NFC Championship Game.
Both teams know it, but no one will say it yet at this point. A.J.
