So Far Buckley And Gibson Shine In Last Game
Written by Garry Cobb    Thursday, 03 September 2009 16:53

Eldra Buckley Fittingly in the last preseason game which means nothing from a win-loss perspective, begins with a pass interference drive for a touchdown.

Eldra Buckley is making money every time he touches the ball.

Michael Vick is pitching the ball too soon on those option plays.  He's acting like he doesn't want to get hit which is probably accurate.

Booker might as well go straight to the airport when he gets back to Philly.

Tony Curtis is doing a nice job catching the football for a guy who is supposed to be primarily a blocker.

Kevin Kolb was sacked two plays in a row.  On the first one it seemed like he held the ball too long.  On the second one, he wasn't given much of a chance by King Dunlap at the left tackle spot.

Nice hook up by Brandon Gibson and Kevin Kolb.  Kolb had enough confidence in him to put the ball up there for Gibson and he went up and pulled in down.

Kolb missed an open Jeremy Maclin on that last third down play.  He should have put some air underneath the ball when he threw it outside.

I saw a nice tackle by Joe Mays.  He dropped the running back on the spot.

Brandon Gibson continues to shine.

I will say it again that those option plays by Michael Vick aren't going to work because he's not pressuring the defensive end as a rusher.

Danny Amindola made a nice catch and run.  It's too bad he has no chance of making this football team.

Another play with Kevin Kolb and Tony Curtis hooking up.  This time the combined for a nice touchdown.

I hope you are right about Booker. We should definitely keep Brandon Gibson. I have to admit that I've been pleasantly surprised by the guy. I agree that it's a shame that we can't keep Amendola...he's a tough little dude.

Things so far from the game and not...Is Rocca sleep walking thru the game...I read on PFT that the Eagles may cut Kevin Curtis...LBs and safeties have not brought anything to the table today.

Buckley deserves to make to the team over Booker. Hes a hard nosed runner that we need. Booker is useless to us with Westbrook & McCoy. Vick looks like he should look after 2 yrs. off but its good he got knocked back to reality so he keeps working hard.

Gibson looks better than Maclin, I don't know but Maclin has shown me little to nothing so far. I hope that money was worth the wait cause he'll be waiting behind Gibson to make an impact in this offense

And Vick still sucks, what a waste of a roster spot he will be all year long. Say good bye to Andy Reid, he will be out the door with Vick by the end of the season.

AGREED. Like I posted last night regarding Vick. Much ado bout nothin'.

Assuming 5 doesn't go down long term, Vick will not have done enough to be worth all the hoopla this season. Everybody talks about him like he was nearly unstoppable. Come on, he wasn't that good of a QB people! Yeah, he's better than Kolb, he has years of NFL experience and Kolb can't get any. Especially now. Vick should've had no more than 2 or 3 plays in the 1st half and certainly not key plays. They should've gone to Kolb to get experience. We may never know if Kolb can do it.

By the way... nearly 50/50 run pass! Are you kidding me? Twice as many rushing yards than passing? Andy couldn't have seen the game plan before the game! WOW on the running game and jeez, with the WRs we have right now it really shows the struggles of the O Line.

:ooo: Vick true to form, more yards rushing than passing :ooo: Booker is gone. Buckley and Gibson and Curtis(TE) must stay :ooo: :ooo:

Last night had some nice surprise, namely Tony Curtis, Brandon Gibson and Eldra Buckley.
All should stick around because thet earned it.
What was not surprising was M. Vick. He looks the same he did for Atlanta, a tweener. He's not a good NFL QB. He is a good athelete.
I was hoping for more from Sean Jones too.
    M.Harris can play ball.

I agree with Eagleyez, based on performance Gibson should be kept. As for Vick, it's very obvious that he needs to be coached up. He's never had good fundamentals. The good thing is, I believe he's in the right place to be coached. It's possible that he could be a great QB after graduating QB School.

Sean Jones was really disappointing on those long pass plays. The only thing I can think of is the fact that Asante Samuel will be playing if Jones were to start and maybe it wouldn't matter much on the long pass plays Macho Harris definitely was looking pretty good on those short to medium yardage plays, but I think I saw him get toasted on one of those long bombs too. Definitely seemed to be the Jets weapon of choice.
