DJack, McCoy Excelling, Maclin Not

The Eagles got in another day of work, this time it was on the wet grass.

Jeremy Maclin is working on his ABC's with regard to running routes in this offense. The former Missouri Tiger only ran a few diferent routes in college.

They ran the spread in college which required them to run the routes based on the feel of the defense.  The west coast offense is a completely new thing for Maclin.

He's got raw ability but it's not translating into production as of yet because he hasn't digested the offense yet.

Let me repeat, in college Maclin didn't run NFL type pass routes.  The Eagles knew that he would be starting from step one, but they fell in love with the upside of having a receiver with his size and speed along with DeSean.

The process of teaching him the offense has begun and thankfully Maclin is a smart kid so he should be able to pick it up fast..

Right now he's thinking on his routes and not getting much seperation.  Still whatever hits his hands seems to stick.

LeSean McCoy is continuing his progress.  He's way ahead of the number one pick.  Both of these guys spend their every moment during this camp thinking about football and mastering the playbook.

I think DeSean Jackson has widened the gap between himself and every other wide receiver on this football team.  His routes are sharp and crisp.  He catches everything that hits his hands and he's got that burst.

Offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg said Jackson walked over to him during practice and said, "I'm getting better today and everyday".

I said it yesterday but I will say it again today, Jackson is going to have a big year.
