Devin Thomas Is Flying Up Draft Boards

The guy that is exploding up draft boards is Michigan State's WR Devin Thomas.  He has the combination of size speed and athleticism of the marque receivers in the league.  He tested very well at the NFL combine and his status has continued to rise.

The major problem on his resume is the fact that he only had one productive year at Michigan State.  Is he a late bloomer or fraud?  I tend to think he's a late bloomer because he caught my eye at the combines.

This past year he caught 79 passes for 1260 yards with eight touchdowns.  The guy stands 6'2" and wight 216 pounds with 4.35 speed.  He's got a good pair of hands and has shown the toughness to catch the ball in a crowd and go up and take it away from a defender.

If you're thinking about him for the Eagles the question would be how soon can he help you.  Is he going to take a long time adjusting to the NFL, like he did in college.  The Eagles need somebody who can give them something next year.

Thomas is somebody they'll have to consider, but his intangibles will be the key.  Learning the system would be the most important of those intangibles.
