Why Does Trot Get Free Pass?

Jeremiah Trotter has been a great player for the Eagles during his time here in Philly but has he accomplished so much that he is above criticism.  The guy called out his D-line last year and said they were too small.  Then he admits he played poorly and was out of shape. Yet he doesn't face once ounce of criticism from local media.

If he had accomplished what Ray Lewis had, then I wouldn't ever question him.   Unfortunately, he's never been NFL MVP and led his team to a Super Bowl victory while being named MVP of the game.I think at times some of the media here in Philly have him mixed up with Lewis.   Does it make sense that all the local media view Trot as this great leader, even though he threw his D-line under the bus while admitting to being out of shape last year?

Why does Trot get a free pass here in Philadelphia? I think Trot gets Hall Of Famer treatment because of the great relationships he has with WIP, Comcast Sportsnet (where he does shows) and the Inquirer and Daily News. He's done a great job of cultivating those relationships and has shielded himself from nearly all criticism.

Don't get me wrong, I think he's been an outstanding linebacker here in Philly during his time with the Birds, but should he be above criticism.  The guy admittedly showed up to training camp overweight and out of shape last year and he's never called on it.  Not one article I read about his Tuesday news conference offered any criticism of him.  Last year the run defense which he's supposed to be in charge of, was awful. Why doesnt' such a great leader motivate his guys to playing better?  How could such a great leader not get his guys to fight harder in those awful games last year against the Colts and the Saints? Could it be that Trot's really not that good of a leader.
