Eagles and NFL News Headlines

The NFL and it's union got exposed on Tuesday ,as the Congress found out that a business which brings in over $7 billion dollars in revenue on an annual basis, paid out only $20 million dollars in disability benefits .   One player accused the NFL of trying to be like the tobacco industry and distancing itself from the results of concussions, which has left many players in states of depression like the one that caused former Eagles Andre Waters to kill himself.

Yes a business as brutal as professional football which leaves many of its players hobbled, has turned it's back on thousands of people who were responsible for building it into the tremendous revenue stream which it has become.

A Federal Court ruled that pat-down searches at Tampa Bay Stadium for the Bucs games was legal .  A teacher at a local school sued the NFL and the Tampa Bay Buccanneers for patting her down on the way into a game. Do you see who we have teaching in our schools?  Nobody is trying to deny you your constitutional rights just because they want to make sure you don't bring something into a game that could do harm to thousands and thousands of people.

ESPN's Mark Mosley says he could see the Dallas Cowboys being interested in recently released Tank Johnson .  First of all, Jerry Jones was impressed with his combination of size and speed when he came out of college.  Also Johnson could probably play at each of the defensive line positions in Wade Phillips scheme. Who knows we'll see what happens.

A writer by the name of Mike Mulligan for the Chicago Sun-Times says it's no big deal that the Chicago Bears released big Tank Johnson .  Mulligan says Johnson was only going to play for half the season anyway, so it's no big deal.  I beg to differ because that half of the year is the part that really matters if you want to win a Super Bowl Championship.  Plus, you can't play that two-deep coverage without a safety up in run support, if you don't have outstanding defensive tackles.  Trust me the Bears will miss Tank.

Tom Cowlishaw of the Dallas Morning News says an extension for Tony Romo can wait.  Romo has only started about 10 games.  He started out like a ball of fire but he looked shakey down the stretch.  Tony would have to prove to me that he's capable of getting away from all the fumbles.  He tries to do too much back there.  We'll see what Jerry Jones does.

Former Washington Redskins middle linebacking great Sam Huff said it was a sure thing that he would return for his 35th yea r as the Redskins color analyst.  It the longest run any analyst has had for the Skins.

Patriots All-Pro cornerback Asante Samuels is trying to get a long term deal with the Pats but the fact that Bears star cornerback Nathan Vasher was willing to sign a five-year deal for $28 million dollars doesn't help Samuel s.  NFL teams are quick to throw other players contracts in your face.  Samuels who was designated the Pats "Franchise Player" wants the security of a long-term deal with New England.

It sounds like Grady Jackson got the best of the Atlanta Falcons.  Jackson sued the Falcons for releasing his medical forms and I'm sure he put some of their money in his pocket .  The Falcons did the low down snake in the grass move of releasing his medical records as a way of running off other teams who were interested in signing Jackson.  Rightfully so it seems like the Falcons had to pay for  it.
