Pete Prisco of CBSsportsline.com has Brian Dawkins on the bubble when it comes to getting in the Hall Of Fame
and he has Doonovan McNabb in the needs more work category . I agree with him.
Dawk needs the Eagles to do something big,like win a Super Bowl or have a special defense. He needs the Birds to have a dominant season with a 13-3 type record and a highly regarded defense. If people are talking about the Eagles defense they'll be talking about Dawk. He can't afford them to have that weak run defense and be the butt of jokes. Every national telecast he has while playing on a dominant defense, will help him in his pursuit of the Hall Of Fame.
The Hall Of Fame doesn't allow a lot of safeties into its ranks. Dawkins has been more than a safety in that he's been asked to walk and cover wide receivers man to man. His versatility is very rare. Dawk can walk up to the line and help shut down the run or make a big play by blitzing off the corner. He can play deep and run down deep throws from sideline to sideline. Brian stands out as a tackler and run defenders, but also set himself apart as a pass defender.
McNabb needs to stay healthy and keep putting up big numbers. If he stays healthy he'll probably register some 4000 yard and 30 touchdown pass seasons. He was headed that way the last two years but got hurt. If he can bang out some big numbers, it will asure him of a spot in the hall later on. McNabb has one of the highest winning percentages in the NFL today. His touchdown/interception ratio is second in NFL history of any quarterback who has thrown at least 100 touchdowns.
Of course a Super Bowl win would speed things up and allow him to go in with lesser numbers. If he honestly wants to play into his 40's, the key to his success will be staying healthy and continuing to win.
