Andy Reid says he's going to take easy on Donovan McNabb for the first few days of practice. McNabb, a number of other veterans who were injured last year and this year's crop of rookies arrived at Lehigh this afternoon.
The first guy that Reid talked about wasn't McNabb, it was his tight end L.J. Smith. Smith is recovering from surgery for a sports hernia. Reid says he'll keep him out of contact for the first few practices before being gradually worked into action.
Reid also said he's going to be patient with Donovan. The Eagles head coach said that McNabb would workout with a brace on that right leg which is his plant leg when throwing. I've heard that the Birds plan on giving Donovan some live game action in the second and third games. Reid said he's not going into the season expecting McNabb to be hurt.
