Mayock On This Year’s Offensive Talent

For some good reading check out Mike Mayock of NFL Network and his piece on the NFL Draft on Philly.com.

He breaks down some of the top offensive players in the upcoming draft.

I don't agree with him about Matt Ryan.  If somebody throws 19 interceptions it's not because of his receivers.  College defenses don't do a great job of locking down receivers.  Many times the quarterbacks are just throwing the ball against zone defenses.  There's no way Ryan should have thrown 19 picks against all those mediocre college defenses.

Flacco has bad feet and isn't a good athlete.  He could wind up being disappointing.

I agree with him  whole-heartedly about Rashard Mendenhall.  He's the best back in the draft.  Jonathan Stewart of Oregon doesn't have the explosion or the burst you've got  have in the NFL.  He's big and he's strong but he doesn't have the burst.

Darren McFadden isn't a franchise running back that you can build all of your running game on.  He's a guy who you're going to have to get out in open space. In the NFL you must have good vision and the ability to change direction in order to be a good back.  Those little legs of McFadden's bothers me and Mayock is right in that his legs go limp at the point of contact.  That won't work in the NFL.
