Booker Acquisition Was A Good One

I like the acquisition of Lorenzo Booker to backup Brian Westbrook.

I thought he fit in  the Eagles scheme last year when he was drafted, Reid saw the same thing.

He's somebody we really liked in the draft last year and we couldn't pull it off where we were able to get him last year, but he's somebody we've had our eyes on," Reid said.

"He does some of the same things Brian Westbrook does," Reid said. "You can flex him out and throw him the football. I think that the combination of he and Brian on the field will really be a nice combination for our offense."

I like the fact that Reid was visualizing how he was going to use him rather than selecting a guy like Ryan Moats who had never caught a pass in his life.

Booker has a feel for the passing game.  He's a guy who makes you miss.  The fact that they were able to get him in the fourth round is a good thing. This quote shows you he's a west coast offense back.

"I love catching the ball just as much as I love running it," he said. "I got a chance to play a lot at the end of the year and . . . that was one of the things I excelled in. I wanted to line up a little more in the slot to show that I could do that, too. Hopefully that will be something I get a chance to do in Philly."

You can tell from the following quote that the Dude doesn't realize that there's a big difference between the west coast offense and the spread offense he played at Florida State.

"I can't say that I'm the least bit upset," he said. "It's a spread offense and any time you can get a chance to play in an offense like that, you have to be excited."

Bill Parcells like big physical backs as opposed to backs like Booker who are speedy and quick slashers.
