Eagles Interested In Injured Linebacker

The Eagles continue to pursue players who have had medical problems.  NFL.com reports that the Birds are interested in Bills linebacker Angelo Crowell.

Crowell didn't play at all during the 2008 season because of a knee injury.  He won't even be cleared to play football until after the draft.

The veteran linebacker had surprised the Bills a year ago by having arthroscopic knee surgery in August during training camp which forced the Bills to put him on injured reserve.

The Birds front office seems to like the medical discount where they are able to sign a player to a contract which is less than what they would have received had they not been recovering from an injury.

It's clear that the Eagles are aware of next year's salary cap uncertainty as they have signed a number of free agents to one year deals.  Crowell would be another candidate for that type of deal because of the uncertainty about his injury.

Detroit, Tampa Bay and St. Louis have also expressed interest in Crowell.
