Cutler Trade = Losing For Dawk

Which team got the best of the Cutler trade?  Honestly, we probably won't know for many years to come.  But I know one person who came out an immediate loser…Brian Dawkins.

With Dawkins we instantly think passionate leader, warrior, and winner.  Thankfully we will always have our memories of Dawkins in Eagles' green to keep that winning association alive.  And I could be wrong, but with Cutler now in Chicago the Broncos will be an average team at best next season.

Dawkins may still have some good football left in him, but at this point what true impact can he have on a Defense that ranked in the leagues' bottom third in points allowed, yards allowed, passing yards allowed, and rushing yards allowed.

Face it, if the Broncos were going to be successful in 2009 they were going to follow Cutler and his prolific offense.

With Orton or a rookie QB leading the offense the Broncos will be lucky to match last seasons' 8-8 record.  Sure the future of the Broncos may be promising with their stock pile of draft picks, but Dawkins will be gone before that success is seen.

It's always easy to play "Monday Morning QB" after the fact, but one wonders if in the end Dawkins would have been better off taking less money for the chance to remain with a contender such as the Eagles.  If we Eagles' fans know Dawkins losing this season will kill the guy.

And as painful as it may be to say, Banner and the FO will most likely come out the ultimate winners in this Dawkins mess.
