Fans Happy With Organization?

According to Rich Hofmann of the Philly.com, the Eagles took a poll of their fans and found most of them very supportive of the owner, GM, head coach and quarterback.

I know you might disagree with that but from what I can tell the people I talk to outside of the sports world, the average Eagles fan is positve about the team, head coach and quarterback.

I think Hofmann makes a good point in his Philly.com article about the fact that there are lot of people who don't make a lot of noise but are in support of Lurie, Banner, Reid and  McNabb.

Looking at the Eagles from a distance, I can't help but admit that they're a successful, well run company.

I said all of that to point out there are few teams who have won as much as the Eagles yet have not won a championship.

To me that says the Eagles are doing something very right and doing something else very wrong.

They are smart ot unload veteran players when they get old and past their prime, even if they're popular.  We've seen time and time again that they have made good decisions in that area.

They do things organizationally that are as good or better than anybody in the league.  They are a well run company but they haven't been willing to put more great skill position players on the field.

A team that relies on its passing game, must have quality receivers if they want to win a championship.  In big games, they're going to have to get open against the best talent in the league.

This is McNabb's 11th season and it's the most speed the Eagles have ever had on the team.  One other year they had this type of downfield pass receivers and it was 2004.

These have been flaws which has crippled this team in big games.

That 2004 team was fortunate to be playing a mediocre Falcons team because the Eagles played without those playoff games without Terrell Owens.  They weren't as good of a team without him.  You saw what happened when he left.

Reid's game planning and McNabb's big plays can only take you so far.   It's much like shopping for a good restaurant, automobile or home, you get what you pay for at the tight end and wide receiver positions.

On another note, the defense needs to be able to get to the passer without relying solely on the bltiz.  In championship games you play against good to great teams.  Good to great teams have good quarterbacks who take advantage of and pick up the blitz.

You can't rely solely on the blitz.

I know it's taken a decade but I think they may have seen the light.
