Sixers Make Move At Bibby

Philly.com reported that a source told them that the Sixers contacted the agent of free agent Atlanta Hawks guard Mike Bibby.   It made sense to reach out to him.

The Sixers have no idea what point guard Andre Miller is going to do yet.  They want to keep him here, but that's not their call and they have to protect their interests.

Bibby's agent let the Sixers know he wants no part of playing for them.  He told them he wants to remain with the Atlanta Hawks.

I don't blame Bibby for wanting to stay with a team that has a better chance than the Sixers of advancing in the playoffs once they get there.

They don't know what's going to happen to Miller, so it makes sense that would go after a guard is very close to being the same age, makes about the same amount of money and is relatively close in terms of productivity on the court.

Miller makes $10 million a year and Bibby makes $15.   Miller is 33 and Bibby is 31.

Bibby averaged 14.9 points a game and dished out 5.0 assists.  He's a better outside shooter than Miller.  He drops threes at a 39% rate.

Miller works inside better than Bibby and averaged 16.3 points along with a better assist average of 6.5 a game.  His three point shooting is nothing to write home about at 28.3.
