Eagles Are Hopeful To Have Westbrook Back, Soon

Westbrook on the run The Eagles are hopeful to get Brian Westbrook back in the lineup this week but they’ll have to get back on the practice field first.

They’ve been monitoring his health since the concussion and have to make sure that the concussion symptoms such as an headache, don’t come back.

“He felt good during the exercise that he did this past weekend,” Reid said. “One of the days, he woke up with a slight headache. That was Saturday morning. It wasn’t anything to worry too much about. He’s feeling pretty good, and we’ll just see how he does here the closer we get to Wednesday.”

According to Reid, he was going to work out again on Monday and Tuesday, so I think the Birds will have a good chance of getting him back this weekend.

Last week trainer Rick Burkholder told us Westbrook would have to be able to workout without having the headaches return before he could start practicing again.  If he’s on the field practicing on Wednesday, we’ll know that the headaches have gone.

What is most remarkable about the Eagles dismantling of the Giants is the fact that they did it without Westbrook.  Leonard Weaver and LeSean McCoy both broke long touchdown workouts as they took Westbrook’s place in the lineup.

Westbrook on the run One good side of Westbrook missing the game is the fact that his ankle injury has been given more time to get well.  He had already recovered much of his speed and quickness when he sustained the concussion, so I expect him to be his old self when he gets back on the field.

Chances are he’ll be primed and ready to help them as they head deeper into the teeth of the schedule.

This week’s game against the Cowboys will be a battle between the top two teams in the NFC East and the Birds will need to have all of their weapons ready to fire.

Westbrook will be yet another weapon for the Cowboys to have to deal with.  I think the Birds are going to have to put some points on the board to beat a Dallas team which is starting to become very potent offensively.
