Amaro: ” We Have No Thoughts Of Trading Cole Hamels”

Hamels in windup Phillies GM Ruben Amaro made it very clear that he has no plans of trading young fireballing lefthanded  starter Cole Hamels.

He didn’t mince words.

“We have no thoughts of trading Cole Hamels,” Amaro said emphatically yesterday. “I don’t know where those rumors are coming from, but that’s exactly what they are. Cole Hamels is our pitcher and we’re keeping him, and I’m glad to have him.”

That should put an end to any other rumors of them trading the expressive young star, who struggled this year after having won the 2008 National League Championship Series MVP and the 2008 World Series MVP.

Hamels made some controversial statements about wishing the World Series was over after his disappointing performance in game 3.  He said he was tired and ready for it to be over.

It was met with a sharp reaction from Phillies fans, who thought it was ridiculous that hw was making such statements.  He tried to clean it up but the damage had been done.

Hamels in his wind up As far as I see it, Hamels needs to put a filter between his brain and his mouth.  You can’t say everything that comes to your mind.

You can go home and say things to your wife in the privacy of your home after a long, disappointing and frustrating season and tell your wife that you feel like quitting.

She’ll listen and baby you, but by the time the sun comes up the next day, you’re ready to tear somebody’s head off.  Sometimes that sympathy from the Mrs. can be real good and rejuvenating.
