Injuries To Key Players Continue To Take Their Toll On The Birds

Hobbs catching the ball Injuries have taken their toll on the Birds this season and it’s not getting better.

The kickoff returns of Ellis Hobbs had been a plus for the Eagles but we’ve seen the last of his kickoff returns this season.

Hobbs was placed on injured reserve because he has a neck injury that will require surgery.

Star running back Brian Westbrook will be held out of practice today because his ankle problems.  The weather has forced the Birds inside so they’ll have to practice on the artificial turf which is hard on the ankles.

Westbrook missed the Cowboys game because of his concussion symptoms, now he’s still having health problems because of his ankles.

Left tackle Jason Peters won’t practice today because he’s still recovering from an ankle sprain he suffered against Dallas.

I thought he played very well in blocking DeMarcus Ware, but one of the plays that he missed would have probably been a touchdown if he had been on the field.

Hobbs returns kickoff Todd Herremans had replaced him at left tackle when Jeremy Maclin beat the Cowboys deep, but Ware was able to hit McNabb before he could get rid of the ball and he stopped Donovan from getting the ball to the rookie receiver.

Looking back at it.  It’s another reason they lost the football game.

The Birds continue to be hit extremely hard by injuries at the linebacker position.  We all know that they lost middle linebacker Stewart Bradley at the start of the season.

Will linebacker Akeem Jordan won’t practice today because he hyperextended knee in the Cowboys game.

Rookie linebacker Moise Fokou who started on Sunday night in place of Chris Gocong won’t practice today either because of the flu.

I’m happy to report that Gocong is back in action.
