Double Standard Used By Media With Favre

Favre getting sacked If you’ve been reading this website for a while, you know that I’m disgusted by double standards.  The biggest difference between America and the rest of the world is that were are against double standards.

We believe in equality under the law and at the voting booth but a lot of people in the sports media believe in double standards if you’re a popular franchise quarterback.

Brett Favre happens to be one of the untouchables in the NFL.

Favre challenged Brad Childress’ authority to remove him from a game against the Carolina Panthers in which the Vikings were winning by a 7-6 score.  Childress was concerned that Favre was getting beaten around and that he and the offense weren’t playing well.

Favre resisted his coach and refused to come out of the game and was characterized as being a battler and warrior because he stood up to the coach.

Favre getting sacked His defenders on WIP and ESPN said he had a right to stand up to his coach because he helped the Vikings to a great record.  His defenders said he was right because he’s a certain Hall of Famer.

They said you can’t bench Favre because the rest of the guys on the team believe in him.

Of course you could have said many of the same things about guys whom they have shredded in the past like Allen Iverson and Terrell Owens.

I’ve listened to and read about how it was wrong for Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant to use their authority to have a coach fired even though they went on win championships.

Now we find out that not only did Favre challenge Childress in the Carolina game, this has happened a number of times this year but the coverup was in action until it became so blatant, that it had to be reported and discussed.

This is total hypocrisy from people who preach about how the players should be role models and respect the coaches who lead them.
