Eagles Must Move Jackson Around Before The Snap

Jackson after scoring touchdown I want to see DeSean Jackson in motion before the snap on Sunday in Dallas.  I would like them to line him up in the stands on a play if the rules would allow it.

I’m not talking about him getting a penalty for illegal motion but I’m talking about sending him in motion behind the line and shifting him over the place.

That’s what Bill Walsh used to do when I was with the Eagles and we tried to employ the “Double 80” defense against Jerry Rice when he was playing for the 49ers.  They made it nearly impossible to double team Rice all the time because they kept him in motion and moved him around all over the place.

He was in the backfield sometime, he would be motioning to either side and lining up at nearly every position.

Moving him around created communication problems for our defense and we wound up leaving other guys open.  This is what happened last Sunday when tight end Brent Celek was wide open after four Denver Broncos defenders started chasing him across the field.

Celek scores a touchdown They left Celek open for an easy 47 yard touchdown.  The Birds will have the same thing happen this week if they move Jackson around and keep the Cowboys guessing about where he’s going to line up.

Eagles offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg is running Walsh’s system so he must know how much ttrouble it creates when you move a guy you’re trying to double team around like that.

I want to also see Jason Avant or Celek or somebody to set some picks for Jackson to free him from Cowboys cornerbacks Terrence Newman or Mike Jenkins.

Picks are illegal in the NFL but everybody’s running them.  They call it a “brush” but it’s the same thing.

They could move Jackson around so much that the Cowboys would get tired of keeping track of where he’s lining up at.

The focus on stopping Jackson is going to put pressure on the other coverage guys to be perfect.
