Did Eagles Complete Deal To Steal Phils’ Thunder?

There’s a conspiracy theory being floated about that the Eagles intentionally executed the Donovan McNabb trade on the night before the start of the Phillies¬† season.

The Philadelphia baseball team which is expected to contend for another World Series championship will begin its season this afternoon in Washington, D.C..

Quite a few Philadelphia sports fans believe the Eagles made sure the McNabb was completed in time to take the Phillies off of the back page of the Daily News and temporarily off the minds of Philadelphia sports fans.

The Eagles remain the most popular professional sports team in Philadelphia regardless of the success of the Phillies, but the baseball team has without a doubt closed the gap somewhat with the football team.

Yet, they still have a long way to go.¬† There’s a passion in this city with the football team that’s on an unbelievable level and it’s going to take awhile for it come down.

I do believe that the Eagles could take a major fall from popularity, if Kevin Kolb doesn’t prove to a good NFL quarterback.

I don’t think it was their main intention but I do believe they tried to make it happen when they saw the opportunity to steal the Phils’ thunder.

What do you think?  Is this matter of taking a far too sinister view of the Eagles?

Absolutely. They can’t stand the fact they weren’t the first ones to break the championship drought. My frustration in how the Eagles do business and how they want to be on front page. You mean to tell me that they couldn’t wait to make the deal.. You do it the day before the Phillies start their season.

Is anyone talking about Halladay starting today?? Not, its all Eagles talk.

They did it with Vick last year. Did that work out well.

Wow.. I guess Lurie really has dropped offf as an owner that wants to win.

9-11 was an inside job, Jack Ruby and Oswald were in on it together, Roosevelt actually had advance warning of the attack on Pearl HArbor, The US actually blew up the Maine to get public support for war agianst Spain, Bush knew Sadam did not have WMDs, Karl Rove leaked the CIA agents name, Vietnam was a secret war funded by the herion trade in… oh – I thought it was list your favorite conspiracy theory day. How about they wanted to stop the constant ‘he is, he isn’t, Ried flinched his left eyelid while talking about Vick nonsense and step up preps for a very imprtant draft

Absolutely No,
This plan was in motion since last off-season when the Eagles did not offer an Extension to McNabb,
Anyone who pays close attention to the Contract statuses of the Eagles Roster should know when the End of Road comes for playing in Philadelphia… McNAbb knows that as well as anyone and handled like the Professional he is.. He didn’t pout or whine about it last season, (the extra $$$$ he received last year was a thank you for playing here and bring the franchise back to competitive playing) . Too many of you get too emiotional about these players (for better or wrose) but bottome line is that Todays NFL is big-business run more and more by business people and not neccessarily football people, I am not saying I agree or disagree, but I am aware of how things are done in todays game of Sports (and it’s across the board) the Eagles are not the only franchise that does this…
Look at the consitent succesful teams in todays NFL and what do they have in common (Colts,Steelers,Patriots,Cowboys,Eagles,Chargers,Ravens,Vikings and soon to be Jets,Dolphins and Falcons) is that they are run like businesses and take emoitions outr of there decision-making process on who to acquire,trade,release,draft,etc,etc,etc,..
This is todays sports whether you like it not… Lets Go Eagles….

No doubt. It’s WAY too convenient that it miraculously happened within 24 hours of opening day. I am personally 100% certain it was calculated to happen today for that very reason.

This Eagles team is scared TO DEATH of the Phillies and are doing whatever they can to fend off their challenge as favorite team in the city. A battle that I happen to think they’re going to lose, considering it’s probably going to be AT LEAST two or three years until they could possibly contend for a Super Bowl again and from all appearances the Phillies are primed to seriously contend for at least the next three years.

Honstly, if Philadelphia fans think that is the case they are more deluded than usual. The eternal private complaining that the general does not listen to them. The Eagles made this deal because it was there and they wanted to get it done. Most of the Eagles FO is prepping for the draft, I doubt they know what day it is at all, just ow many days are left to til the draft.

@Paulman I agree. I killed Serpent10s and RegalEagle has arisen from his ashes. I know that while we don’t agree on everything you are indeed a real fan of the EAGLES.

Gentlemen it is the Logo on the Helmet not the name on the back that matters.

This team is going to get young and good and compete for the next 10 years. I am so excited to see if Reid will grab some of his old mojo with a new guy under center.

BTW has anyone heard from Navyeagle?

I want a vote. Now that 5 is gone….

How many of you want Vick out of town and maybe some other vet backing up 4?

I vote trade 7 for a bag of doughnuts (HE HAS NO HONOR and therefore no place on my team)
