Redskins have contacted Flozell Adams’ agent

Well, the good news for Donovan McNabb is that the Washington Redskins already seem to realize how important it is to protect him. GM Bruce Allen went on Sirius Satellite radio Tuesday and said that the team has already reached out to former Dallas Cowboys left tackle Flozell Adams.

Adams is getting up there in age (he’ll be 35-years old in May) and is a bit of a horse’s rear end, but he can play. And right now, the Redskins have no true left tackle on the team with the retirement of Chris Samuels. Adams was cut by the Cowboys on Friday and I can’t imagine he’ll be on the market too long.

As far as I’m concerned, this would have no impact on what they do with the #4-overall selection later this month. Many people think they’ll grab Russell Okung and I can still see them doing that even if they land Adams. They could certainly move these guys around to help build the offensive line.

But let’s be clear that they really need to upgrade this o-line if McNabb is to have any success. I know they were really banged up last year, but there were starting some guys (Stephon Heyer comes to mind) that just aren’t major league level.
