Its not as bad as I thought it would be. The away games arent that bad. There isnt many elite teams only the Colts and Vikings. They could get to double digit wins depending on how they fill out this defense.

Remember the days when it was a given we would win at least 10 games and go to playoffs no matter who we played. Looking at this schedule I can’t even consider Detroit a win. We better have an all-time draft and pray the young guys exceed expectations. Too many ?s on this eagles team. Kolb .. McCoy … O line ..secondary .. Whole defense …mcdermott…Not too mention Andy without mcnabb will he win more or lose more w/o mcnabb

Have some faith guys. The best part of this young team is that the anticipation to see what they will look like through 16 games starts the minute the draft ends. Lets go birds get some talent in the draft and school em right!!!

Truth:
I agree about Kolb and McCoy needing to be good. But if Kolb is as good as alot of people on this website say he is (im not convinced) the offense should be fine. My biggest concern is the defense lets hope they can pull of some trades or great picks this weekend. To sure up this defense.

Looking at this schedule I see 3 definite wins but that’s it. I’m also expecting the Eagles to trade Assante Samuel during the draft…maybe to Detroit with the #24 and a late round pick for the 2nd overall pick and a conditional pick next…or something like that. (Detroit, Jacksonville, Chicago are the only games where I can say they are games the Eagles shouldn’t lose)

Green Bay- Win. First game of the year a surprise win for the birds
Detroit- Win. Stop Calvin and slow down Suh and we win easy
Jacksonville- Loss. Close game but Jones-Drew has a monster game.
Washington- Loss. Mcnabb gives away all of the eagles plays and the defense shuts down Kolb
San Francisco-Win. Kolb rebounds and has a 300+ yard passing game
Atalnta- Loss- Atlanta starts the season 6-0
Tennessee- Win- Sean Mcdermott puts together a good plan to stop Chris Johnson
Indy- Loss- Eagles can never seem to beat the Colts
Washington- Win- Close game with a David Akers feild goal in the 4th to win it.
New York- Loss- Kolb looks like a rookie as he throws for 6 picks.
Chicago- Loss- Offensive line get dominated
Houston- Loss- Eagles lose in a shoot out
Dallas- Win- Eagles play this game with a chip on their shoulders
New York- Win- Eagles build some momentum late in the season.
Minnesota- Loss- Farve exposes the eagles secondary.
Dallas- Loss- Dallas wins the NFC east with a win.

Eagles record 7-9

Welp, Once again the NFL gives the Eagles a nod of respect. Tied for the most Prime Time games. Say what you want but the Eagles organization and F.O. ( yes Lurie, Banner and Reid) get the money slots by the networks because they know our fan base kicks ass. If only our teams represented half as tough as the fan base we’d have one for the thumb as well!

Philly will have to bring its “A” game for 15 of the 16 games without a doubt! I think we get a W against Detroit and we can’t even take them lightly. And the last 5 are just brutal.

I love to think about last year when the sked came out – we were doomed then too. I remember my good friend Pman calling us 8-8 at best, most were predicting the end of the world, no chence of the playoffs, no weapons, bemoaning Ried about to draft O Lineman – Dawkins gone, McNabb can’t throw, Westbrook about to be done. Then after the season when we – in which we won 11 games, I had the chance to read, and then be pounced on for pointing out we won 11 games, that all the teams we beat were ‘sub 500’. So here we go again – looking at the draft, everyone all concerned. Looking at schedule, everyone all concerned. Looking at all the other moves by all the other teams – everyone all concerned. The Eagles will be fine (16-0 and win the SB). They will have a draft, they will have mini camps, they will have a pre-season and they will win a bunch of games, they will go to the playoffs. The Cowboys will go back to being everyones darlings for a few weeks – good for them. I like when everyone overlooks the eagles – makes it more fun when we kick the snot out of them.

6-10 nor 10-6 would surprise me. Hopefully it will change with the new players, but there were always games where we thought was a lock and we’d lose and games we thought we’d probably lose where we would win. So some of these games will most likely be surprise wins while others will be ugly losses. But based on last years results, this schedule is brutal. The division games will be tight. We all know that. We can’t beat the Colts to save our lives. Vikings could be one of those surprise games that we would win but of course it depends on Favre. Jacksonville and Houston will be interesting games. And every year, games with Chicago and San Fran are close can go either way. Will be tough but the NFL is very unpredictable.

By the time we play Dallas, the law of averages and old age on their oline will have caught up with them and they will be playing back-ups. Seriously, check out Dallas’s depth. Unless they have another injury free season, I see a season like the Giants had last year. The WINNER of the NFC EAST will be the team that is the HEALTHIEST! Unless you know who is going to be lost for the season, guessing records is really silly!

To Davy in the Navy,
The end of the world comes in 2012 (at least that’s what my Almanac says)
I will hold off on predictions until after the draft to see how the Eagles address their Defense and get some stability/depth along the O/line. But after a quick look, a good start (3-1 out of the gate is possible
and out of their 1st 7 games they probably need to be 5-2) for their last 4-5 games are going to be tough
coming down to the end.

Watched the movie 2012 – just before easter weekend – then sat thru a major earthquake and about 8 aftershocks – actually had to walk outside during easter dinner – but on a good note – the weather was fantastic!

Draft is important – also need to see how BRadley and Ingraham come back from injuries – me – don’t need to wait – 16-0 and the SB – I would never, ever predict a team to beat the eagles – I do however think Dixie Fan makes a point, that while it seems obvious, seems to be forgotten or when brought up inthe case of the eagles ‘used as an excuse’. The teams that can stay healthy – one of the reasons I think they changed the Strength and Conditioning coaches

My friend says to me today……. The eagles are going to be 10-6 after the season is over. I started laughing. The reason i did is because he is one of the most negative eagles fans i know! lol And all of a sudden we are going to be 10-6 this year when our schedule is harder then last years lol. Makes no sense we are at best 8-8 and i belive we will be 7-9. Its good to be positive but lets be honest
I only see 1 game on this schedule that should be definate win. All the wrest are up in the air. Our defense has not gotton any better (ernie sims is not god like all of you make him out to be)…our offense has not gotton any better…our special teams is the same. So 2 phases of our team offense and defense have esstially gotton worse. So where does my friend see us winning 10 games…..makes no sense

Disagree – we are better in all phases – better coaching (D Backs and Special teams) our O will be better after a record setting year (Mcoy and McClin a year mature- understand how to use Weaver better – Ingraham should be back, and the O Line will hopefully not have 5 different lineup the first 5 weeks and then lose its center at the end), and the D will be better because we will fix the LB issue with Bradley and Jordan from injuries, Hall and Sims to add depth and competition, Foikiou (the dude that got penalties) a year further a long and I am sure we will draft and LB (or two), We fix the FS posiiton, and we will shore up the DE position – the Eagles will be fine, they will have another great year, go to the playoffs, compete for the Sb and hopefully will avoid the injury bug, get a couple calls to go our way – life will be good – I’ll bet we are sitting here a year from now – griping about how the FO ‘only wants to be competitive, happy with the playoffs and naming that special player that would have ensured the SB win – and talking about ‘no way we win more then 8 games’

I think the Defense (with a healthy return Bradley, and the additions of Sims,Tapp will defintely make
the front 7 a better group… Now the Seconday play is another story with some new faces, young players and a new Secondary coach, it may take a good 1/2 of season to gel and play well…but I do think that
Coach Jauron is a quality coach who will get this Secondary playing better by seasons end and for the future.. The Specail Teams will also be upgraded by having a better coach in B April and more younger athletic players..The key will be the efficiency of the Offense and QB kolbs play, if they can be more ball-control,run the ball, sustain drives and eat some clock and help keep the defenses
more fresh for end of games and end of season

traderpaul, would agree with most except the thought that Tapp is going to make a difference. I am more convinced that Sims will be effective in this scheme, but Tapp looks like more of our smallish journeyman type of DE that we have rotated through here for too many years

navyeaglefan…. ok so your telling me our defense and offense have gotton better….. our offense lots a key compenent witch is donovan mcnabb….Regardless weather you love or hate mcnabb you cannot say kolb is a better quarterback…period!! Quarterback play is very hard to find in this league and as you see from last years superbowl its a quarterbacks leauge currently. Kolb may be good (and i like him) but dont gimme that the offense is better now lol. The offense was better with mcnabb at the helm..period!
Now lets talk defense… Tour telling me adding daryl tapp is making our front four better? Were you one of those people that also thought chris clemos was the answer?? Nothing against tapp but he has done much. Hes not bad but nore has he done much. So at this point he dosent make anything better. Same goes for sims. Just cause he has some talent dosent make him anything. I keep hearing how this guy is a tackling machine… Well thats great cause the year omar gaither started he had over 120 tackles that season…just cause you can tackle dosent mean anything! So once again adding him means nothing. We lost sheldon no matter how you look at it is a pro bowl player. Hes always been solid. So we add 2 question marks and get rid of a pro bowler? And your telling me our defense is better. Dude your crazy!! I hope all these guys pan out but chris clemons is a prime example of how they may be garbage!

Dplex – I don’t stutter when I am writing or speaking – yes – I think our offense and our defense are better – I did not say QB play, nor did I mention Kolb or McNabb – so i don’t know why you would write ‘ you cannot say’ as I maide no comment to the QB, I said better OLine, Ingraham (so OL and TE) the RBs (Mccoy and Weaver) and MacClin being further along. I would much rather have Mcnabb – but he is gone so I will not speak of him – Kolb will be a great NFL QB – been saying it for years. He has a great arm, accurate, fast release, nice touch. He moves in the pocket well, he is going to have a good year. I base this on 1) I’ve coached QBs and I love his throwing motion – especially on the move – which is different then on the ‘run’ run is when protection breaks down, on the move is like a planned rollout or bootleg. I many ways, Kolb is better suited then mcNabb for this type of offense – just needs reps and experince – after watching Flacco and Ryan (yes, I know primary run teams) -I think he will be fine – he threw 40+ times a game in college, so he can handle the load .. But, better OL, better #2 TE (with Ingraham, more experince in the skill positions (and how to use Weaver better) – yes, IMO – better on O.

On D – notice I wrote ‘we will’ which implies I do not think the Eagles are done at the DE position. I never mentioned Trapp or Clemmons nor for that matter in any way discussed the front 4. To me the front 4 is the same – so it at this point has not gone up or down – but by logic – if Trapp is better then Clemmons, then the DL did in fact get better – I think your looking for the ‘answer’ and I don’t know that – I’ll wait for the draft. I happen to think Bunkley and Patterson are a fine pair of DTs FOR WHAT THE EAGLES ASK THEM TO DO – which is a key part of the phrase. Cole is fine – I would not mind a 6-3 335lb DT to challenege Laws and Dixon. The Eagles rotate like heck anyway – so you need multiple players.

But again – notice – I mostly focused on a better D Backs coach and I think we will do some draftin at DB. Hobbs was no slouch up in New England. Most importanly I think our LB situation will go from being a huge weakness to a strength – please -re-read what I wrote –

So to summarize – you wrote ‘our offense hasn’t gotten better’ I disagree – i think we are better by more experince at skill positions, getting Ingraham as #2 TE and a solid O Line

you wrote ” our defense hasn’t gotten any better’ and i disagree – i think the new D Backs coach and the what I think will be a huge improvement at LB (plus the draft is going to focus on D so maybe I’m leaning forward)

You wrote ‘our special teams are the same” I think we have probably THE best special teams coach in the country – and hopefully we will get our KO return runners back from injury

So please – feel free to have a different view. I agree McNabb IS a great QB – Kolb WILL BE a great QB – but just like Brees/Rivers, Bledsoe/Brady, Farve/Rogers Jaworski/Cunningham evetually players move on.

Unfortantley i dont have time to type everything i want to because i have an emergency call from a patient. But i will highlight a couple of things…You say the offense is better….but when you talk about offense that consists of the quarterback also! So offense as a whole….. we get ingrahm back who we dont know about. The o Line is still basically the same as last years. Sure maclin gets better but that does not warrant us losing a pro bowl qb. When comparing to last year the offense was far superior. Hense setting offensive records!! I still disagree when you say the offense is better this year then last years. o-line-same starters, recivers maclin should be better this year, RBs- we add bell, witch is an upgrade… Quaterback- we have disgressed there. So where is the overall improvement lol?? its not there. I like kolb and i hope he does well but 4td and 7int. Everyone talks about his accuraccy. Seems to me so far hes been accurate to the other teams. G would also write consistant articles about how he throws nothing but ints in practice. Im not downing the guy but in the argument of offense better this year… your theory is not supported there.
Defense again….all this hype on bradley, do we even know how good he is yet. All i keep hearing is how he was SUPPOSE to take the next step. Well sh^t he never did. So how do we know what we are getting. His first season he played…ok look at the stats. The next he got hurt. So who knows. Ernie sims is no better then akeem the dream jordan in my opinion. Seems to me your predicating your belifes on all these guys stepping up and being amazing. Im saying all these guys have done nothing yet! So there is no reason for me to belive they are going to be better! All these guys are unproven. 7-9 i stand by my prediction

Dp1221 – fair enough, valid points. I hope you are dead wrong. I readily admit I am an unabashed optimist. I happen to like Jordan and thought he was having a decent year until he bent his knee the wrong way.

Don’t stress with Kolb and his numbers – look at 1) what he did in college and 2) during his two starts. Give him a whole camp, preseason and he will be fine. I argued on the site about busting on Kolb for thrwoing INTs in practice. If I am the D coord and you are the QB for the scout O – I tell you where to throw and you throw it there – I’m not interested in the QBs stats or development – I am interested in what I want my defense to do – instead read some of the commetns Harbaugh used to say about Kolb.

(between you and me – I was a huge McNabb fan)

Hope everything turned out all right with patient
