DeSean Jackson on McNabb Trade: “very happy with the decision”

Why is the business arm of Fox Sports smiling?¬† They’re smiling because the¬† ratings for the first Washington Redskins vs. Philadelphia Eagles game just went through the roof.

Eagles Pro Bowl wide receiver DeSean Jackson came out shooting when asked about how he feels about former Eagles signal caller Donovan McNabb being traded.

Jackson will be on the cover of this week’s¬† Sporting News and in the issue¬† he says that he’s “very happy with the decision” to trade McNabb and hand the keys of the Eagles offense over to Kevin Kolb.

Jackson added to that by saying, “I don’t think we lost anything, even with McNabb being gone.”

This is the way he should feel but why start talking trash when all that’s going to really matter is how he plays when the Eagles play the Redskins.

You’ve got to be confident in yourself if you’re going to succeed in the National Football League, but you don’t have to talk openly with the media about that confidence.

I don’t have a problem that DeSean Jackson thinks the way he does but he didn’t gain anything by making it public.

He is very confident about himself and his young offensive teammates, “The sky’s the limit to me.¬† I think you can call us the Young Guns:¬† We’re all young, we’re all explosive.”

Jackson also doesn’t feel that this is a rebuilding year for the Birds, “We’re always in competition to be one of the best teams in the NFL,” he said.

A group of reporters caught up with McNabb after the Redskins finished the final practice of this weekend’s mini camp and the former Eagles quarterback responded by saying, “It’s so wild when people get to talking when you’re not there, but when you’re there everybody loves you,” McNabb said. “So I guess people will go deeper into it than I will. I’m a Redskin, no longer an Eagle. I had 11 great years and I’m moving on with my life, so whoever may say things when I’m gone, more power to them, but it’s not making you look like a bigger man.”

Jackson didn’t stop by insulting McNabb.¬† He also went after his former representives DeBartolo sports by saying, “My last agents, I was kind of like their biggest client,” Jackson said.¬† “They didn’t really know how to handle me as far as the things top athletes need.”

The speedster went on to say that he wanted to take advantage of his stardome and go on to become the face of companies like McDonalds.

I know this isn’t McDonalds’ saying but, “just do it, DeSean”.

It looks like DJax remembers his ex-QB throwing him and Maclin under the bus saying “our youth showed”. He shouldn’t say “I don’t think we lost anything”. He did lose the QB with a big arm who threw him big TD passes. But, confidence is good. I see McNabb is still whining. He bitched about TO throwing him under the bus and then did the same to DJax and Maclin. How long before his daddy issues a statement saying “this is black on black crime”?

All DJ did was answer questions truthfully and showed confidence in his new QB..what was he guna say…OMG we need u mcpoop..mcnabb threw ‘every’ young teammate under the bus. This proves how bitter he still is about being traded…DeSean. .ur my hero…LOL..

I mentioned this at another sports site, but the problem is that DeSean Jackson talks too much without actually knowing enough through experience. I’d like to say he’ll learn, but after the the whole webcam trash talk incident before the 2nd Cowboys loss where he was rendered completely ineffective he had comments like these…the young man seemingly doesn’t know how to keep his foot out of his mouth…what’s worse is that so far it seems like he generally gets diarrhea of the mouth when he’s concerned and the aftermath results are bad.

I don’t get this story. What’s Desean supposed to say? “I’m not happy, It’s a horrible decision and I don’t think we’re gonna win?” Of course he’s gonna say this stuff, what player wouldn’t?

I don’t have a problem what what Desean said but he just needs to be quiet. It’s nothing wrong with having that confidence. But just keep it to yourself and play ball, seriously. I love him on the field, but I’m tired of hearing him talk. First of all he doesn’t have a great command of the english language and he’s been in the league for 2 years. He doesn’t really know what he think he knows. He needs to just shut up and suit up. That’s it. His mouth will really be running this year when Maclin and Celek emerge as Kolb’s top targets.

How is McNabb whining here? A reporter asked him to comment on DeSean’s comments. There was no whining. If anything, ReidSucks is still whining about McNabb being a member of the Eagles for the last 11 years.

This is not being media savvy by Desean, he’ll be baited all year he has to learn how to answer these questions without saying anything. What are his responses going to be if Maclin indeed becomes the main target of KK. Let the new breed Eagles do there talking on the field and leave the other nonsense alone. Donovan is too classy to be involved in this nonsense anyway.

I bet u guys hating on 10 are mcnabb lovers too..what just because he’s gotta little ghetto in him..and for one I’m cool with the trash talk..he would have two TDS but mcnabb couldn’t seem to make an accurate throw…the one deep ball and the drag route..and mcnabb missed Maclin on the same drag route..but that’s here nor there..the point is, just because he switched agents all u haters are hating on him….so what if he switched. LeSean has rosenhaus..DeSean brings a swagger and everyone feeds off it..Even Andy..look at the relationship those guys have…Andy will get the kid money And the ball plenty…I can’t wait until he silences u stupid a$$’..its guna be great..

McNabb is a redskin. He’s our rival now. I love the trash talk, if that’s even what it is, it’s kinda like JRol and the Mets…. makes for a fun time, and we’re a better team so no harm, just fun.

This guy has a long way to go before he statrs talking trash again. The Cowboys shut his trash talking mouth. It is a sign of classlessness not confidence.

Who gave him a concussion by hitting him in the shoulder? Was it a Redskin? I can see Trotter trash talking but not this little guy.

@ E..just don’t talk no more..he has all the right..as a two position pro bowler. Amongst his peers he earned it..and in that game 10 was open for 2 tds n mcchoke over threw n under threw both..he was open in that game…it was a combination of poor oline play n someones inability to make accurate throws on a consistent basis. HATERS

BigE – those Dallas games featured us without our starting center, and the backup played at a consistent poor level. We’ll see about next year, but as silencer pointed out, way to once again pick one point and hate on it as you always do. Let me guess what you said to your mother today – “I hate you”.

Yeah well, McNabb was like a lil bitch when anybody on the team had a chance at stealing the spotlight and not just T.O. Remember these guys were behind the scenes. Nothing wrong with what DJax said.

The media is always saying a player shouldnt talk too much and then trash someone who does talk too much. The media loves this. I bet Gary Cobb couldnt wait to log on and type this up cause he now has something to talk about instead of the sixers or the phillies.

Desean is the best eagle as of now with out question I personally love these comments cause football is not a pansy sport its a smack talking trash talking game and if you want sweet sissy talk go watch golf.

First- Djax doesn’t fit well in a real west coast offense. He is a deep threat reciever Second- He should know by know Kolb doesn’t have the arm to throw over defenses like McNabb did. In my opinion his numbers will drop a lot this year. Maclin, Avant, And Celek will be better for this trade not DJax.

@ bleedgreen…u should put money where ur mouth is..I’m willing to make a bet that DeSean has better numbers…mcnabb through only 6 td passes to DJ. There would have been more if he would have hit him in stride..and only 4 were forty plus..hmm he had two 60 + with kolb..both wer west coast routes..(slant n crossing ft.)..so if two of DJs biggest plays are coming off west coast routes..ur basing ur judgment of his size..that’s pathetic n lacks the knowledge of what he can do..DJ..will be electric n light our once again..his stats will be better..HATER

McNabb gave us 11 great seasons, helped establish us as a consistently good team… but NO way NO how am i EVER going to side w/ a washington redskin over a Philadelphia Eagle… never. Desean has talked a big game before… and he’s backed it up time and time again.. if he was asked about it, i’d rather him tell the truth and have confidence in his qb, not the skins’ qb… so what, he’s happy with his current team? i haven’t read the article, but did he throw shots at McNabb? or is he happy about the current situation? there’s a difference.. you can like something and then like something else MORE.. what’s wrong w/ that.. you’re not saying the first thing is garbage.. bottom line, are y’all mcnabb fans or EAGLES fans? that’s really all there is to it.. every redskins qb can suck it.. same goes for the cowboys and giants.. period. when he retires, the fond memories can resume

McNabb did great things with the Eagles. If Reid and company had supplied quality receivers early in his career we would have won a Super Bowl.

Today is a new day, a new beginning with a younger team. The only thing that doesn’t change is change.
Hopefully these changes are for the better.

@Philly 22…if Andy supplied better recovers we would of won??..we wer good enough to win all 5..why wer we able to get to 4 straight championships?..if we wer able to get there with our talent, then we wer clearly able to win them all..what happened was, that mcnabbs td- into ratio in the regular season didn’t translate to the post season..24 tds..15 ints…12 fumbles…I know it wasn’t just all him..but we didn’t see the ball security QB from the regular season in the playoffs..
And when T.O. went down we still made it through the playoffs n to the Superbowl…the one person we never had in four straight playoff runs was Brain Westbrook…he to me was the answer but 5 was way too inconsistent with his passing 3 picks n a lot of goof balls.

Don’t forget that JJ’s Defense was pushed around and abused pretty badly in some of these big games
(Super Bowl vs Patirots, the last NFC Championship games vs Cardinals and the Bucs from what I recall)

Paulman makes a good point. The reason the Eagles have won a Superbowl is because they have not gone into a single of those games with balance. Balance on Offense and Balance on defense. McNabb is gone, move on. Stop being emotionally driven little babies and be realistic. They lost those games because the coaches were ill prepared and lacked the ability to adapt when the game required it. Former players, now retired of those same losing teams have said as much. If you can’t see pass you bias, then take it from those who were in the trenches at the time of battle.

Funny how those same strategies applied all year n the worked good..then 5 gets a little pressure on his back island it brakes.
