Dallas WR Roy Williams Says He Won’t Let Dez Bryant Take His Job

A lot of Cowboys fans and onlookers had already given the starting wide receiver position opposite Miles Austin to first round draft pick Dez Bryant, but the most overpaid receiver in the league, Roy Williams, says wait a minute.

Williams says he has no plans of give up his starting position.

“This ain’t my first rodeo,” Williams said, according to Charean Williams of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “I got recruited [to Texas] with B.J. [Johnson] and Sloan Thomas, so those are two top-notch guys.¬† I came in and did my thing.¬† I was the third one on the totem pole in that deal, and I came out No. 1.¬† I don’t really see it as a competition thing.¬† I see it as us getting better.

“But I know in the back of my mind and the back of his mind, [Bryant] wants to play, the only way he’s going to play is to get No. 11 off the field, and that’s going to be tough to do.¬† But it’s going to make us better as a football team.”

Williams is reportedly working on his hands.¬† They say he’s catching hundreds of ball a day off the juggs machine.¬† The big wideout has developed a reputation for dropping the football.

Talk is cheap.¬† I’m sure Williams was running off at the mouth when number one draft pick Calvin Johnson arrived in Detroit a few years back.¬† His arrival is the reason that Williams is in Dallas now.

The former Detroit Lions receiver is a specimen of an athlete but he drops too many passes and doesn’t run good routes.

He might hang onto his job the first year while Bryant learns the offense, but it won’t be long until the Cowboys are shipping Bryant out of town.
