Eagles Set Dates For Start And Finish Of Training Camp

The Kevin Kolb era from a practice standpoint will begin Monday July 26 when the Philadelphia Eagles rookies and selected veterans will report to training camp at Lehigh University.  Kolb will be the guy answering all the questions and taking most of the snaps from quarterback position.

All of the quarterbacks will be reporting at that time, so backup quarterback Michael Vick will also be there for the early start of training camp.

Veterans who are coming off injuries will report at that date, so you can expect to see starting middle linebacker Stewart Bradley, safety/cornerback Marlin Jackson, defensive end Victor Abiamiri and second-year tight end Cornelius Ingram to name a few.

The remaining veterans will report to camp on Thursday, July 29.

The three-days of work prior to the veterans getting there will be vital for any rookies or free agents who want to get a shot at making the club.  Most of the time coaches will give a free agent three days to standout or they’re their chances of making the team are over for all intents and purposes.

If the coaches aren’t working certain free agents  into drills with the starters when everybody reports, then their chances of making the team are very close to nonexistent.

Kolb and Vick will be out there getting their timing down.  That will be the case with Bradley as well as any other veteran starter who will be there early.

Flight Night which is the Eagles Youth Partnership fundraiser will take place at the Linc, on Thursday, Aug. 5. Hopefully it won’t cost the Birds one of their most important players like it did last year when Stewart Bradley went down during the drills..

The first preseason game will take place at Lincoln Financial Field against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Friday, August 13.

The Birds will break camp on Wednesday, August 18 which is a couple of days prior to their second pre-season game against the Bengals in Cincinnati.
