Doug Collins Signs Contract With Sixers To Become Next Coach

According to Philly.com, the Philadelphia 76ers have agreed to terms with Doug Collins and he’ll be the new coach of the team.

He signed a four-year deal but I don’t think he’ll be here for the entire time.¬† Hopefully Collins will be able to get this team going in the right direction.

Collins has been working as an basketball analyst for television for the last number of years.   He was previously a player for the Sixers and has been a coach for a number of teams.

The former Sixer was the head coach of Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls before Phil Jackson took over and led that team to six NBA Championships.

He hasn’t coached since 2003 and was previously the coach of the Detroit Pistons and the Washington Wizards.

Good for the Sixers. Someone at least respectable and with a winning record. Hopefully, he can get the players to buy in. Would love to see them trade Abreu, I mean Iguadola, and roll with the young kids. Holliday, Turner, Young. Hopefully, Dalembert will go with Iggy too.

1st order of bsuiness,
Move, trade Dalembert and Iglouada (which will mean eating some $$$$$)
Draft E Turner with the #2 overall pick and go after C/F Chris Bosh

Then a potential Starting 5 line-up could be

PG – J Holliday
SG – E Turner
SF – T Young
PF – E Brand
C – C Bosh

Reserves to keep would be
Guard L Williams ,
Shooting Forward K Kapano
Forwards/Center J Smith, M Speights

Then draft or add 2-3 roles players (a rebounding Forward,a Defensive minded Guard) to add depth

I agree that they need to trade Iggy. They have to draft Turner to play the 2 guard period and say goodbye to the waste of athletic ability named Andre Iguodala.

collins along with gm are going to be the brain trust in the direction the sixers take at pick 2. keep in mind collins has coached and worked with talented players like scottie pippen and grant hill early in their careers. so, i think this would lead him to have input in taking turner.
