Eagles Finish This Week’s OTA’s With Two-Minute Drill

I know all of the veterans attending this week’s rookie OTA’s are happy it’s over.¬† On Tuesday things will get more serious when the entire team is on site and working out at the Nova Care Complex.

The Eagles ran a two-minute drill yesterday to finish up the rookie camp that’s been going on for the last couple of weeks.¬†¬† The top three quarterbacks got the chance to lead the offense down the field for the score.

Kevin Kolb started things out with Chad Hall at the flanker position and Riley Cooper as his split end.  He got the ball to Cooper for a short gain, then he   completed a couple of passes to the running backs over the middle.

The drive had started at the 50-yard line and was now near the 35-yard line going in.  Kolb took the snap and rolled to his right.  He was looking downfield to a receiver by the sideline but his throw was tipped then intercepted.

Next up was Michael Vick, who lined up in the shotgun and started barking a cadence as he began a drive from the 50-yard line.  He completed three or four passes underneath to the running backs and tight ends.

Vick stayed in the pocket rather than using his speed to get outside to buy time.  They were on or near the thirty yard line.

Surprisingly he didn’t use his speed to take off and create a big play downfield.¬† Vick stayed in the pocket and surveyed the field.¬† He took the snap and looked for a second or two downfield.

Vick then let a pass go deep down the right sideline to rookie wide out Dobson Collins, who went up and took the ball from cornerback David Pender.

“It was a double go, I had an outside release, I just told him to throw it up and I went up and got it”, Collins told me after practice.

Collins is starting to standout among the rookies¬† in the workouts.¬† He has good size,¬† good speed, good hands and he’s making plays.

Next up in the two-minute drill was rookie Mike Kafka.  First he looked downfield and threw a check down route to one of the running backs.  Next up the former Northwestern quarterback completed an out route to rookie receiver Kevin Jurovich.

Kafka got the ball to big rookie receiver Riley Cooper on a ten-yard hook route and he turned it upfield.  Finally on a fourth down with the ball at the twenty yard line, Kafka had Cooper open a seam route in the end zone but rookie cornerback Trevard Lindley recovered on the play and knocked the ball down.

Just waiting for PW to say “itsn’t it amazing the only QB to score was black?” or maybe he’s holding on to his race cards today for something else…

I just heard, thru a pretty shaky source, that the Eagles traded QB M Kafka & S Q Demps to the Chicao Bears for S Daniel Manning and a 4th Rd Draft choice in 2011…

Paulman, I want to commend you on at least changing up your presentation format for your silly trade fantasies. Nate Allen/Marlin Jackson will play the Saftey position next to Mikell.

I’m sure hearing a lot about Kolb tipped balls resulting in interceptions. Is Kolb doing anything to really separate himself from the other quarterbacks on the team? At least when Mcnabb was here, he was clearly the best quarterback in practice.

Last year, it was the same thing for Kolb…tipped balls, interceptions.

Boy, that accuracy and leadership is paying dividends.

This Kolb guy is a disaster waiting to happen and when it happen these same guys here will be talking about the route running or the offensive line before you admit this guys just another guy. Mcnabb had to be superman, but they’ll settle if this kolb guy is servicable. Vick get ready

song – would garry really post about a completion from kolb to a rookie or practice squad type WR in OTAs? Probably not. It would be boring. If you really think garry’s posts about camp so far is an accurate and comprehensive overview of Kolb’s current performance at QB, you’re being pretty silly. If you’re just joking around, well then enjoy yourself – go to town.

shitler and poleman – you guys deflect, almost as much as a defender tipping kolbs accurate passes for interceptions.

Have kolb done anything on the field when live bullets are flying that translate into him being the best quarterback on this team? Real games

If so………..what?

wow, gotta admit that I’m offended by you casually comparing me to one of the world’s worst people in history. That aside, which Quaterback on the current Eagles roster has thrown for the most yards and touchdowns in the NFL in the past few years? That would be Kevin Kolb – you’ll come back at that with the interceptions, ok. But fact of the matter is, when Donovan was starting out, Doug Peterson had ‘done (anything) on the filed when live bullets are flying…..), but eventually they put Donovan in anyway. We get it – everyone know’s your opinion of Kolb. Now you just have to sit and wait, cause you can whine all you want, but Kolb is the starting QB.

Attention COOLAID DRINKERS:
Schein: Kind Words For Eagles
Adam Schein ranks the NFL franchises one through 32 on FoxSports.com and he has the Eagles ranked sixth in the league. Here is what Schein has to say about the Eagles’ organization …

“Arguably, the number is too low, with my conservative yet fair grade for Kevin Kolb. But make no mistake, Philly’s organization is among the best in all of sports. Andy Reid wins every single year. Owner Jeff Lurie has a great model in place. Team president Joe Banner is sharp doing contracts, and new GM Howie Roseman has been ready for this promotion for years.”

Schein ranks the Patriots first, followed by Indianapolis, New Orleans, Baltimore, Green Bay and then the Eagles.

Just for the record Dobson Collins is not a rookie. He is a free agent who signed a contract with SF in 09

“Vick then let a pass go deep down the right sideline to rookie wide out Dobson Collins,”

it seems kolb’s accuratcy does not extend itself to practice. if kolb is making mistakes in the ota’s with no pressure on him then what will he do when the bullets starting flying for real in the season. kind of funny to me how vick is suposed to be the guy throwing picks and kolb it was said runs the offense the right way.
