Eagles Already Focusing On Skins, Giants, Cowboys & First Opponent, The Packers

When the Eagles first-team offense lined up against their second and third team defense yesterday, there were three defensive players wearing red jerseys with certain numbers on them.  You might ask yourself why were those players wearing those red jerseys with those numbers on them.

The players wearing those red jerseys with numbers on them are portraying certain Redskins defensive players, which will allow the Birds offense, defense and special teams to be mentally prepared for the plays, formation and schemes they’re going see when they battle the Redskins.

Kevin Kolb is getting chance to come to the line os scrimmage and see where Andy Reid and Marty Mornhinweg believe the Skins defensive players are going to be lined up.

When the Eagles number one defense took the field, backup quarterback Michael Vick lined up in the quarterback position for the Skins offense and did his best to imitate Washington quarterback Donovan McNabb.

Under Andy Reid the Eagles have always made it a point to start preparing for their NFC East opponents during the last week of OTA’s.¬† They put in some plays that they think might be successful against their division opponents, so they can see what those plays and defenses look like on video against those teams.

It’s helped the Birds have winning record against their opponents in the NFC East throughout most of Andy Reid’s tenure here in the city.

As the week continues they’ll get the chance to work against the New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys and probably the opponent in the season’s first game, the Green Bay Packers.

This time is especially important for young players like rookie safety Nate Allen, who is currently lining up as a starter.¬† He needs to have a good idea of how the Skins, Giants, Cowboys and Packers are going to attack him because you know they’re¬† drawing up plays right now to beat him.

Eagles 2010 Season will come down to Divisional play within the NFC East and other top NFC Playoff Contendors…
6 Games versus NFC East opponents which they need to split 3-3 at the minimum and preferbly go 4-2 ,then the 5 Games versus the Packers,Vikings,Bears,49ers and Falcons in which they need at least a 3-2 mark and preferbly a 4-1 record…
If they go 6-5 in these tough 11 games, then they will need victories over Lions,Texans,Jags,Titans
to reach 10 Wins at a shot at the playoffs which is very doable..
This makes the opening game versus the Packers a very important one out of the gate, which is at home and a must-win in my book, to set the tone for the remainder of the 2010 season..

I do try to post for all fans whether they are new to Football, the Eagles and to this web-site…
and by the way, the most obvious sentence/statement in the History of Mankind I believe was,

Not everyone has their 2010 schedule memorized like you and me do, Schiller….

I don’t have it memorized. But Paul, the only thing that determines the Eagles playoff hopes (and the same goes for all teams) is how man wins and losses they have in relation to the top teams in their division and conference at the end of the season. Are you suggesting that something else determines whether they get into the playoffs? Or are you just pretending you can predict the future again, if that’s the case, I’m sorry for letting myself get riled up over your usual antics.

i believe all Paul was trying to do was predict where the birds need to have success in order to stay on pace with what the NFC/NFC East. We have a competitive schedule this yr and we arent going to win every game so splitting within the division and against some formidable conference is a must. cant be tying teams like the Bengals this yr.

Let me give you another forecast/prediction my friend
Eagles just signed another linebacker… and Inside LB which tells me the S Bradley is hurt more than
they thought and that Gaither and Mays and some of the draft picks are not what they are looking for…

Schill, when the negative is pointed out with the eagles FO, you make it a point to say, “it’s the same with all teams”. Some teams actually make it a business to win Superbowls….Can you tell us what the Eagles are doing different that have them come up short compared to Superbowl winning organizations?

Some very bad news to pass on from a very reliable source..
My source at Jefferson Medical Center confirmed that MLB S Bradley probably tore his “Achilles”
as opposed to a minor “Calf Muscle” as reported.. Not only is this most likley a season ending injury but potenitally career ending …The guy and this Defense can’t catch a break …

I just finished posting that injuries are such a huge part of this game that Maclin’s comparison to the Greatest Show in Turf is a bit premature. If there’s any truth to the Bradley injury, that could be a huge setback. As much as I love him, Jeremiah Trotter certainly is not the answer. I wonder if Levon Kirkland is available.

Believe it or not silencer,
My sister works at Jefferson and has since the mid 70’s and runs the same-day-procedure unit there…
Now back to football,
The Packers line is not that bad with both Clifton and Tausher back and healthy..(remember that
Tausher was out the 1st half of last seasin and Clifton was recovering from off-season injury)
Bualaga will not be a starter in 2010 but will be groomed for 2011.
The biggest issue I see is in the Secondary, can they cover these big, physical and atlhetic WR’s of the Packers… in Jennings,Driver, Jones and Nelson who are all at 6′ and bigger, they also have
some good TE’s in Lee and Finley…
If Eagles D/Line doesn’t get consistent pressure on A Rodgers. It may be a long, hot afternoon at the Linc…

Ok first – as for Paulman – the LB they signed is a charity move – he’s a local guy – PLAYS OUTSIDE LB, is very small, and has no chance to make the team, you know that. You’re just trying to stir stuff up for your ego. IF your jefferson story were true (not saying I know where your sister works), then your sister would be breaking a FEDERAL LAW smart guy, and you by proliferating the info would be too. ALSO, your buddy out in Oakland would be revealing blatant illegal (by NFL rules) tampering that would negate a trade. So listen genius, stop calling me sarcastically ‘brilliant’ while you make up BS and claim to educate people. Some of your posts are your opinions about players and FO strategy – that’s great. But when you make stuff up for your ego or just for fun, it’s wrong because people take you seriously sometimes.

Songs, Vick is a mobile, strong armed QB – that’s McNabbs style. Kolb is a MUCH less mobile, pocket QB who get’s the ball out quick – completely different styles. That’s the difference you asked about. And the reason I say ‘same for the other 31 teams’ a lot is because it’s true. If someone said ‘i don’t like that person because they have to be unavailable for several hours every night and they make bad smells when they go to the bathroom’ – I’d tell them that all people do. You get it? The Eagles Organization, historically speaking, since the inception of the superbowl (which is a semantics thing, they did win the championship before the SB thing was invented you know) had some crappy coaching, bad luck, and when they go real good (Buddy Ryan era), they had a coach who didn’t really care much about offense – you gotta score to win the SB. Then more crappy coaches, some bad injury luck and when they got back to the superbowl, the other team was caught CHEATING. The saints took a while. Etc. I don’t see how you can blame Andy Reid or this FO for the lack of superbowls before they were with the team, but it sure sounds like you’re doing that. Look at Cowher with Steelers… Why does what the redskins’ history have anything to do with the NFL today (for example). They have sucked and been much worse than the Eagles for the Andy Reid era, but you view them as a better team because of something that happened almost 20 years ago.

Silencer, our o-line isn’t exactly full of studs right now right. Not sure why you would think we’d dominate them. It’s one thing to think we’ll win but to win easily. Be serious. Our o-line is questionable, defense is questionable and QB is questionable. I could easily see thi game being a high scoring game because both defenses may not be able to stop the other. The difference in the score may be a big INT or fumble. Something like 28-24 isn’t unlikely.

And to this….

“and if our pass rush is what the coaches rave about”

Well they rave about everything. If our team is what the coaches rave about them we might as well get ready for the Super Bowl. Don’t believe the hype until they actually play.

Pauly, sorry, but I don’t regret it. It had to happen. You cross the line when you make up stuff just for fun, that people take seriously. You’re starting to mobilize people against the Eagles over the DJax situation, which Djax and his agent have no problem with and understand. You’re starting to get people calling for DJax to leave the team. You’re starting to garner belief that Stew Bradley is seriously injured again, which will get the negativity rolling real strong. But they’re false, so you’re causing harm, albeit inadvertently, but just for the fun of it. That’s not cool man. My intention isn’t to talk about you as a person, but rather I have a problem with what you’re saying. Making up harmful rumors and treating them like credibly fact is problematic stuff man.

I’ve been searching for something to confirm Bradley’s injury for the past 3 hours. I hope the story is false. We need that guy, although he probably won’t be 100% this year.

I don’t have a take on the game against the Packers. Let’s get through camp, first. With certainty, some important player on one or both of the teams will be lost for the season.

drummer – paul made the whole thing up. His whole rumor starting with the Eagles signing a MLB – they didn’t. They signed a camp body who has only ever played outside LB, is quite small for an LB, and even the team website says it’s a longhill battle for him to make the team. Paulman saw it as an opportunity to stir the pot a bit, have some fun with us, but you can’t find any confirmation because it’s bullshit. Save yourself the time, and never believe anything paulman says. He’s a casual Eagles fan who is not that invested in the team doing well. He just finds the talk interesting.

Songs, our front office is flawed. You know who isn’t flawed – not a single person on the earth EVER. I’m willing to admit that now. Every SB winning front office was/is flawed. I NEVER said they’re perfect. But you tend to speak of them as horrible, and terrible, not flawed. If the Skins win the SB with McNabb (we only gave them one player so I don’t know why you said reject’s’), I will admit that it looks like they made a bad move.

songs, and how was that spuds worthy. I am also not a fan of Spuds, and not that your insult means much, but I don’t see how me saying paulman completely making something up has anything to do with spinning for the Eagles. You’re just throwing that around without meaning. I expect better out of you. Sometimes I do say things that debunk criticism of the team because I think the criticism may be BS or misled, but this certainly wasn’t one of them. You were caught ‘hating’ thoughtlessly redhanded.

truce agreed. Happy to see you saying that. I too wish Dawk, Donnie, Westy etc… could have one a superbowl, and to this day I say the main reason they didn’t is that the stinkin pats were dirty cheaters, and otherwise because the NFL is such hard league to win a championship in and there are so many factors, many of them injuries, that prevented it. That’s where you and I differ – you see the FO/coaching as what prevented us, and me as the cheaters, injuries, probability and complications. Still we’re both fans who want a Superbowl. Let’s see what Kolb and these weapons can do, hopefully the young D guys can put it together and at very least have a dominating pass rush. Should be fun for many years to come.

Do you enjoy it when the Eagles get a sack, interception, score a touchdown, beat dallas, win a game, make great plays? I do, and most eagles fans do too. Thats why the smile, cheer, toast, etc. You can see it happening during football games. You know what I mean? Same goes for the team making it deep in to the playoffs, like when they went to the superbowl. Whatever man, it was an expression. But if you truly believe in ‘superbowl or bust’ where bust – WHAT DA HELL DOES THAT MEAN in the expression. Does bust mean misery and torment to the point that you’re constantly unhappy? I sure hope not.
