Sprained MCL for Mikell

According to the Philadelphia Eagles’ official website, safety Quintin Mikell will miss time with a sprained MCL. They don’t explain how it happened, but they say he shouldn’t miss any of training camp.

“The starter opposite of [Nate] Allen, strong safety Quintin Mikell, suffered a sprained MCL during the OTAs but will be ready for the start of camp, per Reid,” Chris McPherson writes.

This isn’t a very big deal right now as there is still plenty of time, but if Mikell were to go down for a significant portion of time, the Eagles would be in trouble. As it is they are paper thin at safety and he’s really the only guy on the roster that we know can play the position (despite his down year last year, which can be mostly attributed to him playing with someone that had no clue what they were doing).

He’ll probably be fine, but we’ll keep an eye on it.

Wishing Q Mickell a speedy recovery.
I do think that this will be his final season with the Eagles and they will replace him with a
combo or M Harris/Q Demps for 2011 and beyond
I would go out and check out a free-agen S Clinton Hart as a back-up immediately and possibly sign him
if he looks good..

Wow Paul Clinton Hart? Normally I’m with ya and agree with most of the things you say, but I must respectfully disagree on this one. Clinton Hart is not only a sub-par player on the field, but he also has a host of problems off the field. Reid will usually steer clear of these types of players unless they happen to be very talented and provide an “upside” to the risk (ie Vick). Hart provides neither. I would personally feel better with Demps/harris than add ANOTHER sub par safety with off the field problems. Hart is not an upgrade over what we have here already IMO. Too bad Atogwe thinks hes gonna be the richest safety in the game or he could have a chance to improve this defense and have a chance to actually play for a contender. Too bad thats not the case and atogwe will be back with the Rams, or the Lions..

lol Songs, for bein such a negative, pessimistic “fan” you sure do comment A LOT on everything Eagles related. Im sure your just one of the Giants/Cowboys fans who spend more time on the Eagles website than the actual fans do. If your not one of those people, than get a girlfriend or a dog or something. You seem very lonely and angry and thats not a god thing for a Philly fan who normally has enough stress on their plate.

And we’re just as accurate as you haters and doubters that predict 4-12 records. Songs…that just means it’s time to wash the ‘stache bro. Paul, funny you should say Heart, he didn’t play for the Panthers does he? Jared, Songs has his blogger BFF PhillyWill to keep him warm…

I’ve been an eagles fan for over 25 years……I’m just beginning to understand what others been telling me for years….This organization will never do what it takes to get over the hump. They will crap on their franchise players, insult the intelligence of the fan base. They will no longer have me chasing the cheese on the string. As a fan, I’m taking a different approach and challenge this underachiieving organization until they finally become what they made us believe they were……. “THE GOLDEN STANDARD”.

Songs..that doesn’t make you a fan and I would then contest your “25 years of fanhood”. The FO owes us nothing and they don’t sit behind closed doors scheming ways to screw the fans, us real fans I mean, not the likes of your fake fan types, screw you guys anyway. And as far as your “challenge” how do you expect to “challenge” this organization huh? Gonna write some sternly worded letters to a PO box? Or blog angrily on fan sites? Geeze what exactly are you so jaded about? Quit your bitchin and change your pad already.

Clinton Hart played for the Chargers during his best years and then bounced around the last year or two. He has not played for the Panthers though I did suggest the Eagles to pursue their Safety at the time
(Chris Harris) who since was traded to the Bears and who I thought would have been a good fit for the Eagles for the short-term)
To Jared, i am not aware of off-the field issues with C Hart and of course, if there is a lot of baggage with him, then obviously he would be be a good fit.. What has he done.. I am usually on top of
players who have had off-the field issues but can’t recall any with Clinton Hart… thnx

but of course, I do not know everything, what has occured

**Correction**
Should have been, if C Hart has off-the-field baggage, then he would “not” be a good fit here for the
Eagles, maybe a Ken Hamlin or some other experienced Safety to help this young Eagle DB’s

SONGSRME2

challenge them by not accepting the way the eagles do business with stating the truth without giving a positive spin to anything. If they do right, I’ll applaud but if they continue the same cheap nickle and diming franchise players, I will stand on the side of the players. They put their bodies on the line everydy they strap up and this organization do not appreciate it. They did it to Reggie White, Seth Joyner, Keith Jackson, Clyde Simmons, Randall Cunningham, Now Dawk,Mcnabb, Westbrook, with the streak continuing with DJAX. This organization is broken and the championships begin when this FO follow in the winning ways of superbowl winning organizations. Keep the above average players until you win something. Stop cutting or trading players when you don’t have the talent to replace them. Stop thinking you have all the leverage. No Players! No Football! Period

Songs – totally out of curiosity here, no hostility, I swear. I’m curious what an acceptable or even good organization would be like in your mind? If the Eagles had 1 superbowl win in their history, would you be happy? Like if you were a Ravens fan, you have the SB win in your history, but the team hasn’t done much since. Would you be happy then? What about being a Cowboys, Giants or Redskins fan? Patriots? Any team? I suspect that you’d still be negative and complaining. I also think that the saints fans will be unhappy and fed up if the Saints don’t win it again this year, and we all know the odds there. Please share your thoughts on this.

Ok vr. I guess you’re that worried about losing Sheldon Brown, Darren Howard, Sean Jones, Will Witherspoon, Chris Clemmons, an injured Kevin Curtis, Alex Smith, and a gimpy Westbrook. You also don’t think that Riley Cooper, Brandon Graham, Nate Allen, Daniel Teo-Neshiem, Ricky Sapp, Keenan Clayton, Travard Lindley, Daryll Tapp, and Mike Bell will add anything to the team. You must think it all comes down to shipping out McNabb and going with Kolb. Thing is, neither of us knows what will happen. But you think you do. Like I said, we will see. But one of us foolishly thinks he knows what the future holds.

vr – sorry for the sarcasm. I realize now that your reasoning for the Eagles going from 11-5 to a bad team is the catastrophic loss of Chris Gocong. You also think that adding a defensive back guru and the best special teams coach in the league will not help.

Philly – When was the last time that Westbrook – payed or not – was healthy enough to play most of the football games in a season. Not last year. Not the year before. It’s not about money – the man couldn’t stay on the field anymore. When he came back from the (2nd I believe) concussion – he said himself ‘I’m afraid to take another hit’. And before the concussions his legs just could not hold up. I LOVE THE GUY. HAVE UNDYING LOYALTY to him, but I wouldn’t want the Eagles to sign Barry Sanders or Marshall Faulk for the same reason Westy isn’t on the team – HE’S DONE. DONE. If he does sign with a team this year, lets see how many games he plays in, how many total touches he gets. And you only hate McCoy because he’s new and represents the physical decline of your sentimental attachment – BWEST. McCoy broke the rookie rushing record for the Eagles – and that includes prior to Andy Reid (pass first) era, and the old days before this was a passing league. McCoy is a good RB, probably on the way to being a very good one. You gotta move with the times. You’re caught up in old players and emotions – we all can identify with that. But it’s the Not For Long league for a reason.

I hope #36 signs with the Redksins so he can sell Shannahan’s secrets to the Eagles…
