Current Redskins quarterback Donovan McNabb has been on ESPN today in a featured package talking about his time here in Philadelphia and his seasons with the Eagles. McNabb is questioned by ESPN football reporter Adam Schefter.
McNabb’s parents must have emphasized saying the right thing as compared to saying what you really feel.
The much talked about quarterback said this year’s first Washington Redskins versus Philadelphia Eagles game won’t be any big deal to him, but just another game.¬† The former Eagles signal caller tells Schefter with a straight face that it’ll be just like any other game and all he’ll be trying to do is help his team win.
I find that very hard, in fact impossible to believe.¬† There’s no way in the world it’s going to be just another game for McNabb.¬† I think he’ll be trying to treat it like another game, but his emotions will be going crazy when he comes up here to play against the Birds.
You and I know McNabb wants to kill the Eagles.  Any player who is traded wants to kill the team that traded to prove to them that they made a mistake.
The interview begins with him explaining that he can understand why people were so surprised that he was traded within the division because he had been in Philadelphia so long.
He makes it a point to show appreciation for Andy Reid’s decision to draft him and give him a chance to play here.¬† Throughout the interview, he expresses thanks again and again to Reid.
When asked whether he was appreciated in the City of Brotherly Love, McNabb responds by saying, “I was loved in Philadelphia”. I think there were a lot of people in Philadelphia who loved McNabb but the haters were louder and I don’t think he’s being honest by saying he feels he was loved when he was here.
I don’t think a guy like McNabb can talk about the city as if it’s one person.¬† There were people who loved him and people who hated him.¬† There’s no question he let the criticism bother him while he was here.
When asked how he will remember Philadelphia he says he’ll remember, “Hugging the Big Fella.¬† The big fella with the black coat.¬† He took a chance on me in 1999”.
Keep’in it real just like his former bosses.

I hated seeing the way Dawk was treated, hated seeing him go, but never did I consider being a Bronco fan or openly rooting for the birds to lose to the Broncos. Why is it different for you and 5?
