No surgery for Polanco?

With 2B Chase Utley and his thumb headed for the knife, it’s become very important that Placido Polanco gets well soon and returns to the infield. Polanco has been dealing with elbow issues and is currently on the DL.

While the Phillies won’t have an update on him until later today or tomorrow or so, a source tells ESPN’s Jayson Stark that surgery is unlikely.

If Polanco is going to miss extended time, this Phillies team could be in big trouble. The lineup had started to hit again and that’s huge right now because the bullpen is a joke. This team needs to score a lot of runs because I don’t see the bullpen holding many close leads.

Let’s hope Polanco gets back in there soon.
