One Jackson Is All Business And Another Jackson Takes Some Snaps With 1st Team

The little guy was walking around with his game face on today.  He knows it’s closing in on that time to step up.

You don’t hear as much talk around the Nova Care Complex as we heard earlier in the off season, about how great this team is going to be.  It’s closing in on the time when this young squad will be forced to go out and prove that they’re ready for prime time.

The quotes will soon give way to wins and losses that mean something.  Nobody cares any more about what you say unless you go out there and back it up.

Eagles talented wide receiver DeSean Jackson who has shined in the first two games of the preseason is intent of having this team ready to perform when the lights come on.

He was all business when he talked to the media today and wanted no part of talking about his contract or the departure of Donovan McNabb. “I’m just here to play football,” said the former Cal Bear. “All the other stuff I could care less about. I have a job to do … I’m here to do whatever and to play football and win games.”

He let everybody know that he’s more interested in victories as opposed to individual accomplishments.  “I’m not (making predictions) this year,” Jackson said after practice. “I could care less about that. I’m here to win games and to be a team player and to do everything I can to encourage my guys and for us to go out there and be successful. Win games, that’s all I care about.”

He did a good of signaling what this young offense and young team should be focused on with only one true dress rehearsal remaining before the season starts. “We just need to do what we need to do to win games and to put points on the board. As far as the number one offense, that’s what’s expected out of us. I feel we have a task to go out there and put up points. No matter if we haven’t scored, not one point, or scored 12, 14 – whatever it is, we just need to go out there and execute. We’re not going to make a big deal out of it. Just go out there and work hard.”

Jackson knows it’s time to start looking like a quality football team.  All of the assumptions about “we’ll be fine when we get everybody healthy” isn’t going to get the job done when the season starts.  This will be the last time the first string offense and defense get the chance to play together in a game situation before they play the Green Bay Packers at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday, September 12.

Center Jamaal Jackson took some snaps today with the first team.  It wasn’t full go or anything, because they were working inside in shorts.   It still was good to see.  “It was taking a little bit of time, you know, just adjusting to the speed and the tempo, Jackson commented last year. After that, like you said, it’s like riding a bike. Hopefully I can get out there and not have any major rust and just try to play football.”

Head Coach Andy Reid thinks his starting center is headed in the right direction.  “I like what I see. He’s moving around well. Strong for what we’ve asked him to do. We’re just taking it nice and slow, but the things we’ve asked him to do, I think he’s looked very well.”

Quarterback Kevin Kolb likes the fact that they’re getting the opportunity to travel out of town again this week.  They’re expecting noise in Kansas City, which is one of the noisiest places in the NFL.  He feels it’s going to be a good challenge for them with the regular season only a few of weeks away.

Kolb talked about how Jackson doesn’t get the credit he deserves for being a quality leader.

“The guy’s a leader. He really is,” Kolb said. “

With all the prognosticators on this site and in the Eagle World as we know it.
Thie Success of the 2010 Eagles will really simply come down to how both the Jackson’s play…
We know D-JAx is one of the most exciting, big play guys in the entire NFL..
Can he continue to improve on the #’s from last year, can he stay healthy,
can he dominate Special Teams as the Return guy.
Center J Jackson is the glue that holds the line togther and keeps them consistent, can he be 100%
all season, if so, this O/Line has a chance to be special (once Stacey is replaced)
I am betting that both Jackson’s play well this season which bodes very well for the entire team

Paulmandomis…your the only prognosticators on this site.So the defense not giving up 27 passing td’s isnt key. RB’S picking up the blitz? How about the coachs not f’n up the game plan and not adjusting. I agree there both keys …but one of several.

ArR & MM not F’n the game plan… that’s impossible, that’s like saying the Hot Dog Eating Contest in Coney Island every year is fixed (1 years it’s the White fella, the next year it’s the Japanese fella)
With Allen at Safety, Sheldon “Toast” Brown gone, Gogong “I don’t belong” gone, and the additions
of Graham,Teosunami, and a heathly Bradley back, this Defense will be much better.

You know as i sit here and think about my eagles i have watch over the years. I have realized that our teams ability to not run the ball is clear and always has been. Its starts from the top……reid! Reid is not an emotional guy dosent get fired up or yell or anything like that. Look at guys like bill cowher, jeff fisher, parcells, rex ryan. All those coaches bring a certain toughness to the game…and attitude or an emotion of some sort. Reid posses none of these things. Can you imagine him pumping up the line and gettin in guys faces and yelling at them? Those things toughen you up. At least thats the way that i feel!!! Even reaves cried!!! Show the love. What you think Mancini…philly will…erock…shriller???

Dawkplex.. You seriously are going to judge a head coach based upon his emotion? hows about looking at his record for the last 9 years and blah blah blah i love andy and blah blah blah eagles will be 16-0 blah blah blah no ones right but me.

Sorry Dawk, not buying it.locker room emotion lasts until the first hit, no farther. Discipline and professionalism win in the NFL. Reid hits an awful lot of the high points on Leadership 101. Do not castigate in public, always in private. Loyalty goes up the chain of command as well as down. He does not embarrass his players in public, but they know that when the rules get broken, there are consequences. Charlie does many of the same things, sat down a reigning MVP for being late, and his players really play hard for him. Reid gets the same respect from his players, that is why they tend to play so well late in the season, they do not quit on him. Emotion is completely overrated. Where is Navy? He should have a comment on this.

I agree100% with Dawkplexer,
You would think that AR (an ex O/Lineman) and a big guy would be the type of coach that would want his guys to line up and mano to mano and beat their opponents down by running the ball down their throat, but his offensive philosophy which stems from LAvell Edwarsds,BIll Walsh and Mike Holmgrem is to outsmart, outscheme and out finesse his opponents which worked pretty good 10 years ago when a lot of defenses didn”t see 3 & 4 WR sets, Double TE sets, lots of screens, motions and bunch packages and formations, not it’s the norm and Defensive Coaches and teams have adjusted with speed, bigger and more physical CB and more pressue on the QB’s.
Rushing the ball takes a disciplined mindset and patience which I don’t think are strong traits of
AR’s Coaching style or personality for better or for worse.

To Big E,
Thanks for the unabridged edition and meaning of Teosunami..but that’s my nickname for him and I am sticking to it…and I hope that doesn’t offend FanSInce1960..

Reid does show some fire and i think we’ve seen that. I’ve seen it at camp and at games and im sure you have too. But he’s a bring your lunch pale guy who hust works realhard and wants others around him too follow. The whole rah rah thing is good but it only goes so far. Bill Walsh’s Niners ran the rock enough and effectively. But he just told em line up and kick ass. I dont think he put in alot of expletives and punding his fists too do it.You make good point though…it needs to be more of an attitude and a mindset that when we want too we’ll punch you in the mouth. Word Dawkplex…good call.

On a serious not however, the success of our 2010 Eagles will come from how we play as a team, from Coach to couch. We can still lose if DJax has 8 catches for 150 yards and 3 TD’s.

Paulman’s overall rankings of WR & TE’s for NFC East for 2010 Season
At WR
#1) Giants – S Smith, H Nicks, M Manningham, V Cruz, R Barsden
#2) Cowboys- M Austin, R Williams,P Crayton,D Bryant, K Ogletree
#3) Eagles – D-Jax,Maclin,Avant,Cooper,Baskett
#4) Redskins – D Thomas,S Moss,M Kelley,T Austin, R Williams

At TE
#1) Redskins – C Cooley & F Davis
#2) Cowboys – J White and M Bennett
#3) Giants – K Boss and T Beckham
#4) Eagles – B Celek & ?

I know the truth hurts, but everyone going stating that the Eagles WR/TE’s are some of the best in the NFL is just not correct. In the WR category, I give the edge as a group to the Giants for their more depth and size and toughness, then to the Cowboys based on talent and size alone..
IN the TE category, the Eagles are in deep trouble if Celek were to get injured, Celek has taken a pounding the last 2 season and needs some quality help to give him a spell once in a while, or to be another red-zone target and help with blocking .. ( Harbor is not ready just yet, and I would not be surprised if Ingram is placed on IR for 2010 and maybe never even sees the field in any meaningful game for the Eagles)

Lots of teams teams have very good WR Corps in the NFC like the Packers,Falcons,Cardinals,Vikings when healthy and even the Seahawks WR look good on paper
And letsnot even talk about the stacked AFC WR Corps (Colts,Ravens,Patriots,Bengals,Jets,)

First off it’s your truth Paulmondomis…and htf do you rank the Giants recievers over the Birds when they haven’t one legit #1 on there squad. Smith is a fake #1 and its cause they have a great run scheme.Or had one. Cowboys!?GEt the he!! outta here dude. Roy Williams is better then noone on our roster. Is the dro that good down in N.C dude?Bryant is a punk and a sisy who will be ineffecticve when the bullet are flying cause he’s nursing a sore ankle. And TE RANKINGS? Hilarious!Who cares about TE’S . Celek is on Whittens tail. And he’s a better overall tight then Cooley. Cooley was hurt lastyear so he gets knocked down. Boss!!!? Better then Celek…he would probably tell you different.Dang Paulmondomis….A New Level of BULLSH!T and CONFIDENCE!

Got to wake some Eagles Fans up..
Everyone thinks this Eagles WR corp is tops in the NFL and I am here to tell you that it may be the
best in recent Eagle History, but still middle of the road as far as the NFL goes..
I am not convinced that Maclin has what it takes yet.. He still has a lot to prove to me,
Avant is a very good 3rd Down possesion receiver who lacks speed and a burst to run away from anyone, Baskett is the tallest player 6’4″ who plays the smallest and Riley is unproven as of yet..
D-Jax is a superstar and the best on the team but even he will disapear when playing against physical CB’s and Defenses.. (see the Cowboy games last year)
So in the end, how good is this Eagle WR corp… it’s good, no doubt, but I think many of the Eagle Fans and Local Media overstate their abilities as a group just as they do with many of their athletes…(D-Jax/Maclin are weak blockers and have not been effective in the Red-Zone due to lack of size, strength or the gonads to make the tough catches in traffic)
Eagles have no one proven behind Celek.. the other teams have 2 quality players at TE and more Depth which is why I have the Eagles ranked at the bottom in the TE category..

If anyone thinks they can truely gage this team after a chiefs game, you’re sadly mistken. Kolb toasted this high school team as most QB’s did last year and he’ll probbly get his first TD of the preseason against this pathetic team this preseason. The only certainty we can pull from this game is if we played the Chiefs every game of the year they could begin shaping Kolb’s bust in Canton and the Eagles would actually be the “GOLDEN STANDARD”. Chiefs? Give me a break “G”.
