Sbisa sent down to Syracuse

With Roy Halladay about to take the mound before Game 1 of the NLCS and the Eagles preparing to take on the 4-1 Atlanta Falcons, I’m sure you are all pondering the Chris Pronger trade. As such, I thought I’d pass along an update on one of the key pieces.

While I liked the idea of Pronger coming to the Flyers, I cringed a bit when I saw the young defensive prospect Luca Sbisa included in the deal. But, I’m feeling much better about the trade since Pronger led the Flyers to a Stanley Cup run, and Sbisa now can’t seem to crack the NHL.

The Anaheim Ducks today sent Sbisa down to the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL. He has appeared in just two games this year and is scoreless with two penalty minutes. It’s still early for the 20-year old, but so far he’s struggled. I’d rather him struggle out there than in Philly for a team with playoff aspirations.

In related news, the Syracuse Crunch probably just got a little better.
