Will That Same Eagles Team Which Beat The Falcons, Be Going To Tennessee?

This has been a strange season in the NFL.  It seems that teams change from week to week. There hasn’t been one team that has played good football throughout the first six games.

Every team has been up and down.  You can’t take any matchup as a sure thing.

One of last year’s doormats, the Kansas City Chiefs were the NFL’s last unbeaten team.  The St. Louis Rams have a legitimate chance to go to the playoffs.  If it weren’t for a couple of plays, the Detroit Lions could be at .500.

Parity is a part of the NFL, like never before.

Do you remember how bad David Gerrard and the Jacksonville Jaguars were against the Eagles?  The week after that embarrassing game, they beat Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts.

The Atlanta Falcons were supposed to be one of the best teams in football, but they surely didn’t look like it this past Sunday.

That brings us to the Eagles.   Are we going to see that same Birds team that dominated the Falcons this past Sunday again this weekend against the Titans?  Their dominating win over Atlanta was without question the best all around game the Eagles have played all season.

Both the offensive and defensive lines won their battles upfront.  They dominated the Falcons.  The defensive front had shut down San Francisco’s Frank Gore in a similar fashion but the offensive line hadn’t done as good of a job of pass blocking all season.

Even Bobby April and his special teams group was able to handle the Falcons.  The only player who didn’t have a good game was kicker David Akers, who we know will bounce back.

Taking nothing away from the players, kudos have to be given to offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg and offensive line coach Juan Castillo for the way they provided help for King Dunlap in his matchup with John Abraham.  Rarely was Dunlap left to block Abraham one-on-one.

Will the offensive line play on that level against this weekend?  Will the game plan be as good this weekend?  Probably not but they must find a way to win any way.

Chances are that they won’t be quite as dominant.  Quarterback Kevin Kolb must continue to keep his focus if he faces more pressure.  He must keep his eyes downfield and focus on reading the coverage and getting the ball out of there.

He had better refrain from getting distracted by anything else.  Starting or not starting will be taken care of as long as he plays well.

Andy Reid must tell running back LeSean McCoy, that he’s not auditioning for “Dancing With The Stars”.  There’s no shame in not gaining any yardage because the defense is blitzing the formation, but you can’t lose yardage by dancing in the backfield.  If nothing’s there, get what you can and get on the ground.

The defensive coaches also won’t be able to design as a good of a game plan this week.  They seemed to be in the Falcons huddle.  They were attacking the line of scrimmage on running plays and going after the quarterback on passing plays.

They must stop Chris Johnson and that means on every play because if somebody gets out of position on one play, he’s gone.

We just need that same Eagles team to show up this weekend in Tennessee.

The same Eagle team may show up, but the Titans are a better team across the line of scrimmage than the Falcons are.. Titans have always had physical, active O/Lines and D/Lines and it’s the same this year.. While the Falcons may have better SKill players, the Titans will knock you in the mouth..
heir Secondary will also try to get into the heads of WR/TE’s but late hits, pushing & shoving after the play, etc, etc, Eagles WR J Maclin needs to keep his cool for they will attempt to batter him around and bait him into stupid penalties and maybe even get him kicked out of the game if he’s not careful (especially with D-Jax out)
This game will be won/lost at the line of scrimmage, The Eagles D-Line is going to have to come up big again in limited a great RB in C Jonson from making the big runs, the LB’s & Safeties need to be active but very disciplined for Johnson’s biggest runs come his cutback runs that he makes..
Titans WR K Britt is developing into a big-play WR and has gotten better in each game, TE Bo Scaife is more of a blocking TE while 2nd Year TE J Cook is the pass receiver. Another up and coming player is back-up RB J Ringer who leads the NFL in Yards per carry.. He also is a threat to catch the ball out of the backfield and is a decent blocker on pass situations…
I hope V Young plays for I think he makes more mistakes than K Collins, though he is much more athletic, Collins, if given time can still throw the ball on a dime and be very accurate, if you get him on the move or sack him he is prone to fumble and make some poor throws…
This should be a great game and the Titans are a definite playoff type of team who are playing at home in front of a rowdy, packed house in Nashville…

G:
I love the way Tennessee plays the game. And if Big Red would’ve run the ball more over the past decade, I’d have loved the way the Eagles have played the game too. Tennessee will probably exploit the FB when they game plan against us on defense. And they’ll challenge our safeties and LB’s on offense. Our first rounder should be making more plays too from the DE position. Bo Scaife is very good TE as well. And Vince Young is responding to the fire that Jeff Fisher has built and stoked under him.
The Eagles’ LB’s, safeties and OL have to play well for the Eagles to prevail. And Kolb has to be protected.

The thing that worries me about the Titans is they are a physical team. We normally have trouble with physical teams because of our lack of size in some areas and the fact we don’t really have those “nasty” players that every team needs. I agree with Paulman, I’d rather see Vince Young that Collins because he’s more likely to make mistakes where Collins is a game manager and will look to just not turn the ball over and move the chains. Vince will throw the ball into double coverage. But the Titans are a physical team and their DBs are too. They will bump you after the play and grab you to get in your head. Maclin, right now seems to be the type of players you can get under his skin quickly. There will be no soft coverages this week without Jackson so Maclin has to step up to be press covered for much of the game with a CB that’s going to be physical all game. Everyone knows, that’s how you take our receivers out the game if you have the personnel to do so. So we will see. Celek will have to step up as well as Avant.

I would just like to highlight something from another article board, Songs and I no longer have beef:

Songs-
I’ll answer that Schill…If Kolb put up 350 yards passing 3 touchdowns and win this game against the Titans he should get the nod for the rest of the season and be the future for the Eagles

Schiller-
Songs, I have to respect your answer. Though you actually went further than I would – if Kolb plays a great game and the Eagles win, I’m personally not sure that he should get the nod for the rest of the season. And you are also equating playing a tough defense in week 7 with ‘winning the big one’ – those are two very different things. And you brought McNabb into this – McNabb is history, GONE. And he has nothing at all to do with Kevin Kolb, Mick Vick, and/or the future of the Eagles. We do not know that Vick can offer a victory against tough teams or winning a big game – he hasn’t done that but for some reason (maybe because he’s an incredible athlete and improved QB?) you are handing him freebies on those two criteria.

Again though, I have to give you credit for flip flopping on both of the things you guaranteed this offseason – that the Eagles would suck miserably and that Kolb would be a guaranteed bust. The mere fact that you’re giving him a chance to convince you he’s the franchise QB for the future in 1 game, show’s you’ve backtracked on both of those points. That was really all ever had against you – so I declare a moratorium on our feud.

I think Fisher is one the best Coaches in the NFL, though he’s never won the big one…
(it’s been tough to win that Division with the Colts and Peyton Manning in it)
Their philosophy is very similar to the Eagles which is they build thru the Draft, don’t spend big $$$ for big-name Free-Agents and don’t keep players around after they past their Prime years (Van Boshman,Keith Bullock,McNair & Eddie George are good examples)
They have had a stable Coaching Staff thru the years and not a lot of change in philosphies or schemes. The Big difference is their style on Offense. Titans prefer to run the ball and wear you down as the game goes into the 3rd/4th Quarters, They rely alot on the Play-Action after they establish a running game to make big plays, they use thier TE and RB’s out of the back-field alot and play a field position type of game. Their Special Teams have always been good as Coach Fisher made his name as a player on ST and his first Coaching opportunity came withcoaching Special Teams.
They always have had good kickers and punters. their Defense has had a lot of turnover since last year and is younger and more athletic than year past.. A couple of players to watch out for on their Defense are MLB S Tulloch and CB C Finnegan and Safety M Griffin who are all playing at a Pro-Bowl Level.. another thing to watch out for are De J Babin and LB W WItherspoon who will ikely have an extra chip on their shouders to play very well versus the Eagles, who did not even offer them a contract when they were Free-Agents after last season was over which was probably a slap at both of them since the Eagles had obvious needs at DE and OLB… So these guys who are playing well
will be pumped to make some big plays…

Rather see Young over Collins…that’s looney!!! As a defense yes I would rather see Collins, but Young the athleticism has to be respected. Just like Vick, he’s not one dimensional. Should be an interesting game..very physical. man whatever happened to TE Clay Harbor…Garrett Mills, he’s like 235, who is he.

one last thing,
Consistency & Stability wins in the NFL..
If the Eagles continue to be aggressive with their gameplans, have some balance between Rush/Pass
like the last coupld of games, avoid or at least limit the negative plays, penalties, turnovers, play good, solid Special teams, than they have a very good shot of winning games and getting to the playoffs.
I think the thing we all have learned about this NFL Season so far, is that no one team is really dominant (maybe the Steelers) and that no team is really bad (except the Panthers & Bills)
It is about the Coaching, the stability and steady hand as teams move from week to week and I admit that I have not been a big Coach AR fan or supporter, but so far, he has really kept this team focus, appears more engaged with the entire team (Defense and SPecial Teams) where years before, he just worried about the Offense. He has his players back and he’s even more personable during his Interviews, so maybe he has internally taken a step back to see how he can improve as a Coach, I don’t know, but I like the Coach AR I am seeing this year.. I do think all the changes in personnel and at QB, New GM, New Assistant Coaches and a lot of young talented players has re-energized him and has also shown him that he doesn’t need to do everything himself, Let his coaches game plan and coach, let his GM make roster moves and oversee the draft and most improtantly, let his young talenetd players play… This Team does have some very good upside and should be a factor in the NFC for the next 4-5-6 years easily..

Paul – I highly disagree – I think that scoring more points and holding the other team to less wins in the NFL. If you can win while being inconsistent, you win. You’re just blabbing a whole bunch of mumbo jumbo.

And who will be at top come the end of the Season Schiller,
That’s right the teams, that have Stability with Coaching,Consistent Schemes and a true Identity on who they are as a team, like the Steelers,Ravens,Patriots,Jets,Colts,Titans from the AFC and from the NFC,which is really hard to predict this year, but likely, the Saints,Giants,Vikings,Packers
Eagles and Falcons all seem at the most of these qualities than many of the other teams which is why I think it’s important for the Eagles coming out of the Bye week and annouce the #1 QB so the team, coaches, media and whoever else can remained focus on their oopponents and the task at hannd to win Football games..

No. Witherspoon and Babin were released for a reason. If I’m the Eagles’ coaches, I’m game-planning to exploit them precisely. And I don’t like Chuck Cecil. What I would really, really like to see is running the ball down the Titan’s throat. I do like Jeff Fisher a whole lot, but I would make Cecil use his other hand. That was George W. Bush league.

Kolb will constantly have someone in his face so we will see how he handles pressure and they will get hits on him so we will see how he handles being hit. Will Kolb go backwards or will he learn from the first week in Greenbay? Have they told him not to go head first and to slide feet first to keep from getting that big hit. The other question is Will Kolb last the whole game or will he get knocked out? Will we see Michael Vick come in and do what he did the first game. We are going to see Young run a lot so our positioning on Defense is key to keeping him contained. On Offense what will be the production of Avant and Maclin. Maclin is going to see a double team all day so it is up to the other guys to get open and show up. The TE and the FB will be a key on Offense. Looking forward to this game!!

Good afternoon Guys….Whats up? Another day, Another Dollar over here.

Schiller, regardless of what Kevin puts up on Sunday, I still don’t think he should get the nod. I mean, why would you want him going into the playoffs with no experience? Its a completely different atmosphere than the regular season. The last time I’m going to say this….What has Michael Vick done wrong to get his starting position taken away from him? The answer is nothing. Kevin got his spot taken from him due to injury and because of his early poor play in the game. If Mike starts performing horribly and not playing like the same player, where you can see his injury is taking a toll, then I think it would be fair for Kevin to start. But Mike can do everything Kevin can do and then some. Especially given proper blocking. Can you imagine what Mike would have done had he had the time to throw that Kevin had last week? But yeah, until Mike does something wrong/bad as far as his play is concerned, he should start…regardless if Kevin throws for 400 or whatever.

As far as the Titans are concerned, IF THEY BRING THE BLITZ, I think we will see the same ol’ Kevin Kolb in which he looked like a deer in headlights. The Kevin Kolb that would take off and run away as soon as the big bad monsters got loose. When pressure is on Kev, he has yet to do anything impressive in my eyes. So yes, I want to see Tennessee bring the blitz. Lets see what he is made of. Because yeah, last week Kevin balled his ass off! BUT….due to the great blocking he recieved. But you know as well as I do, if given proper protection, ANY QUARTERBACK IN THE LEAGUE will pick you apart. I give Kevin his credit, I’m just saying….

If this were Vick going into Tennessee, I would feel more confident about a victory. Because we would be talking about a different scenario here….”How the Titans Defense is More Scared Of the Michael Vick Experience than We are of CJ2K” Yeah….I can dig it.

I think King will have a great game despite the performance of Kevin Kolb. King is from Tennessee! So he will be in his neck of the woods for the first time as an Eagle. He told me he is looking forward to it and I know he is gonna show off lol. So I can count the left side as checked off. So if any pressure comes to Kevin, I think it will be linebackers and the defensive tackles giving McGlynn and Justice some problems. Just my opinion. We shall see.

Dizzy – Why are you talking playoffs in week 7? I’m not saying I want Kevin Kolb, I’m saying, I want whichever QB that’s in there, it’s Kevin this week, to play well. You admitted that you want that too, but you keep on saying otherwise. Why are you rooting against Kevin? Don’t you realize that you and I, and everyone can be for Kevin AND Mike? That way, we have 2 good or great Qbs, that’s better than only having one. It’s silly to root against a guy on your favorite team. It really is.

Dizzy – for the last time, Mike Vick has done nothing wrong to get his starting job taken away from him – and here’s the part you are missing – IT HASN’T been taken away from him, and nobody is saying it has. Mike CANNOT do everything Kevin can do and then some, Kevin is more accurate. You keep ignoring that to make your point.

You are defending Mike Vick as if he was benched and everyone is for Kolb. Neither is the case. He’s injured, Kolb gets the start this week, and there is no game the following week. All that matters right now is Mike getting healthy, Kevin playing well, and the Eagles beating the Titans. There is really no sense in worrying about what happens past that at this point.

Slow your roll Dizzy, you’re going to make yourself into your screenname….

Vick will probably not even suit up for this game..
He his struggling throwing the ball with any zip due to his injury and it’s taking a little longer to heal than orignally thought.. he’ll be ready though after the Bye Week versus the Colts
Kafka will be the back-up and Jason Avant the Emergency QB if all hell breaks loose
This being a game versus an AFC team has less impact about the NFC playoff race and with the BYE Week coming next week, I believe it will be very wise to rest up and allow players like
Vick,Peters,Bunkley and of course D-Jax to get another 10 days to 2 weeks of healing/rehab time twhich would go a long way of them being healithy and able to finish the Season strong..

schill, let me clear this up here,,,,I was being facetious……The point! If Kolb throw for 350 yards and 3 touchdowns against the Titans ….He should start and be the future. We all know he will not therefore the alternative is his friend the clipboard.

And to clear up your other misrepresentation of my qoutes…I predicted a horrible season and a 5 win maximum for the Eagles if Kolb was the starter for the whole season while you guy were willing to sacrifice a season just to see if he can play and obviously Reid shared my views by giving Vick the start to inject life into a team that Kolb sucked the life out of. Vick serves a very important role on this team and because of his presence Kolb must perform when given the shots. Lately he have been good but this weekend is the test. If Kolb beat the Titans by putting up the numbers in this comment I will gladly eat crow and admit I was wrong about him…Look at those numbers and tell me do you think he will throw for over 300 yards with a couple of touchdowns against the Titans in Tennesse? If he don’t we’ll have to introduce him to his familiar friend…”THE CLIPBOARD” – “TIME’S YOURS”

Okay 1st of all, I brung up playoffs because Schiller said if Kevin goes out there and throws for 350, he should get the nod. If he got the nod, that would mean he’d be the QB for the remainder of the season. So dont jump to conclusions. I was leading to my point based of your statement.

2nd, yeah there are alot of douches on here. Im glad everyone has their own opinion. I just happen to express mines stronger than others. Even if it means me repeating myself over and over repetitiously. Thats just how I express myself until I feel there is some understanding to the points I am making by people trying to criticize them.

Yes, I am rooting for Michael and Kevin. BUT I feel more comfortable with Mike running this team, OKAY? Got it? I dont feel comfortable with Kevin running this team. Thats MY opinion and a lot of others’ too. But Schiller, you make a lot of valid points man…But check this, you are wrong. Michael CAN do everything Kevin can do. PLEASE do not act like you didn’t see the accuracy and precision or Mike’s throws when he is playing. Kevin’s accuracy is up only because of his short passes and checkdowns. If he threw the Deep ball like Vick on a consistent basis and not just TWICE a game like he did Sunday….My best guess is his accuracy wouldnt be so high. But fuck that. I’d rather have a QB that is a double threat to scare the opposing defenses…That free’s up our recievers, McCoy, and Vick. The defenses dont know who to guard. See when he was in Atlanta, Mike didnt have effective weapons. So all you had to do was shut down Mike and Alge Crumpler. This is a different story. Vick, McCoy, Jackson, Maclin, Celek….Who do you place more emphasis on? It cant be all of them. So thats why I said Vick should be the starter. NOT Kevin OR Mike, Michael!

DizzyJ
DizzyJ
October 21, 2010 2:14 pm

Whereas if Kevin is the starter, the defenses can focus on the recievers and sacking Kevin in the pocket rather than him running for a 50 yard touchdown on them. If they run at Kevin, he freezes up and rushes his decision making. When they rush Michael Vick, he does what he does bet and kills the defense. This is really not an argument. Lol. So I wont even discuss it farther. This is just stupid to think Kolb should start over Vick. Like wtf lol

Big Boss…I disagree. This NFC is nothing to write home about and I can not think of a scenario in which this team get knocked out of the first round at this present time. We could beat a healthy Green Bay with Vick and the packers are walking wounded, the Cowboys are finished before they started, and the Eagles actually are getting better each game. The offensive line is settling in, Andy is actually commiting to the run game, and even the special teams are rounding out, and the biggest surprise is that we are relatively healthy. If this team continue it’s ascension with a Healthy Vick I believe the Eagles may surprise the league this year. And people please with this rust garbage you all are using to keep Vick on the sideline. He was rusty when he was rushed into action against Green Bay with no preparation …How did that work out? With the Bye week in place to help him mend this can only be positive..He’ll have fresh legs while the rest of the defenses have worn down in the latter part of the season. That’s a plus…You’re talking about one of the fastest players to ever play the game and one of the strongest arms in the game today. Dizzy, you’re the one who is overzealous in your comparison of the two qb’s. I think both have played well and both at this point deserve to start. i.e G. That said, (Songz) I think the rust of not playing in a game for four weeks is different the layover from playing in the last or second to last preseason game to the first regular season game. I guess what I should say is that Vick will need to be Michael Vick circa 2010 vs. Detroit Lions/Jaguars as opposed to circa 2006.(Assuming Kolb plays at a high level this week). With all our differences, the one thing most eagles fans have in common, is a lack of patience. A good to great game this week, means Vick will need to play at a high level in week 9 and 10. If Vick were to plan average or below average, people will be yelling for kolb on November 8th. If Vick plays poor or even average again the following week, people will be screaming.

Lakers lose Kobe Bryant for the Season with a torn ACL which happens in March
They are devasted as a team and get bounced right out of the 1st Round
Mavs are overrated and too old as is San Antonio, Jazz don’t have enough Offense and
Denver still does not play enough Defense.. So Oklahoma CIty makes it to the FInals…

Miami Heat’s Big 3 are gunned down at a night club in Miami Beach by an illegal Cuban who has no idea who they are or does he care..The Big 3 were caught in a crossfire while hiding out in the Women’s Restrooms between some rival Cuban gangs…Pat Riley officially annouces his retirement from th Heat
and the NBA
Doug Collins continues to have Headaches,Migraines, Dizziness and Nausea as he watches his new 76er team. Every specialists he see’s says the same thing, “Doug, you are physically fine and we cannot find anything out of the ordinary, “Maybe your baskterball team just sucks ”
I will talk about about some bad events for NHL at this Years New Years Classic game in Pittsburgh
this years.. Due to unusally warm Temps in the Northeast, there is a lot of puddling at the outside rink causing for some real sloppy conditions, Compounding this, is that the stage/platform to carry the NBC Video/Broadcasting equipment sinks into the ground and tips over onto the Ice Surface
which electrocutedsall 55 Players,Coaches,Refferes and the game is permanently cancelled….
Both Crosby and Ovechin lose their hair, voices and their will to play Hockey anymore..

Hey..How’s everyone today on this Thirsty Thursday? Sorry I couldn’t make the party earlier but someones gotta work right!

PM, World cup is played every 4 years..next one in 2014 brosiff

Dizz-nice to see you,
Schill, I didn’t think the truce would last either
Songs, why do you even post nemore, no1 cares, go hug your BigDon pillow

About this week. Contain CJ2K..IF we can do that we have a chance but I’m a little worried. The OLine needs another outstanding game if we’re going to move the ball. Run run run and then run some more. Keep Tenn’s O on the sideline and eat the clock up.

I’ll catch up with everyone later.

And a small future brightspot..Looks like we wont have to worry about Dallas Clark when we come back from the bye…out indefinetly.

Damn! There goes my buddy Paul predicting certain doom for my Eagles once again. Well Paul my friend you certainly have the right to make such a prediction, this is a wonderful site of freedom, I also have an equal right to say “Damn, there goes Paul my buddy predicting doom again for my Eagles.” So there I have said it. Hey are the titans undefeated Paul? Is Johnson having a banner year? Are they scoring more points than the lions? Fisher is a good coach were they in the playoffs last year?( Serious I don’t remember). Whaaaatever, here is a conter-thought “Lets go Eagles beat them damn Titans, How bout that brother eagles, how does that sound to you? I am down with that, any takers.

Again not complaining at all Paul, just that I am going to counter post you brother every chance I get, casue we both have a right to expresses. How about them dang gone division dominating Panthers :),
