Colts are banged up pretty good

One thing the Eagles have going for them this week as they prepare to take on a team and quarterback who have traditionally had their number, is the fact that they won’t be getting the Colts’ best shot. They are banged up to bejesus and back and will be missing a bunch of guys.

Not having Dallas Clark certainly hurts, but it’s even worse when you have to turn 324-pound guard Jacques McClendon into a tight end for the week. Yep, that’s what they are doing. Could this finally be a tight end that the Eagles can cover?

Also, one of the tougher guys in the NFL, Clint Session, won’t be playing either. This linebacker played last week with a dislocated elbow and broken forearm. But, it looks like it will stop there as he’ll need about two weeks off.

Also missing for the Colts will be Anthony Gonzalez (shocker), Joseph Addai, RB Mike Hart (getting thin at RB), Jerraud Powers and safety Bob Sanders (obviously).

The Colts are getting paper thin at a lot of positions, but unfortunately for the Eagles, Peyton Manning is the great equalizer. Just having him gives them a chance to win every game.

Old news Michah,
I repsorted this last week.. Also add a gimpy DE R Mathis, MLB G Brackett, WR P Garcon, WR A Collie and players that are out DT A Johnson, Safeties Bob Sanders & M Bullitt, who are on IR and out for the Season.. If the Eagles don’t beat them this week, they many never beat them.
My Call is Eagles 31- Colts 23

Eagles 11-0 after the bye.. Andy Reid has never beaten the colts so one or the other record will be broken this week. Colts 44 eagles 10

If I was the O/C for just this game..
I would put 2 WR’s in, have them split out wide and Rush the ball the first 12-15 plays right between the Tackles and pound this Small Colt Front 7 into oblivion…

I have a theory on why Manning and the Colts always beat the Eagles so badly. Manning is basically in charge of the offense when he’s out there, and he’s an incredibly savvy player, so “on the fly” adjustments are easier for the Colts than any other team in the league. Andy Reid, on the other hand, wouldn’t be able to adjust for unexpected rain if someone handed him an umbrella. A good game plan is worthless when your opponent figures out how to defeat your plan and you can never compensate.

Haratio I agree. I think the colts are just a smart football team. Imagine learning all those plays when they audible? they are just extremely intelligent. I would run the ball in this game 70% of the time. Keep manning off the field. but if we’re playing behind you can forget a come back cause it aint gonna happen

TO Hortaiom,
I agree wth your assesment, but most of the blame would have to fall on the Def/Coord(JJ & McDermott) for they are the ones putting together the Def/Game plans and the ones who need to be able to make agjustments, changes, etc, etc adjust to what Manning and the Colt Offense is doing…

I’ll take whatever edge we can get to go to 5-3! BTW, to whom it may concern…Is anybody gonna even try and challenge my greatness in Scorp’s fantasy league? It’s getting boring just laying waste to all you scrubs every wknd.

Colts 3rd WR A Gonzales just placed on Season Ending IR list Sat morning and is out for the Season (Torn MCL in his Knee) in last Monday’s Night Game.
Colts are down to a healthy R Wayne, a 85% P Garcon (hamstrings), A COllie who just had surgery 2 weeks ago on his hand for torn ligaments and Rookie WR Blair White who has 6 career catches , at TE, Colts have J Thamme and G Robnison (with Dallas Clark Out and and back-up B Eldridge also out) and at RB, Addia and Hart did not practice all week and D Brown is coming off his own hamstring issues and has had leg issues all season long..Colts will probably have to play rookie
Javarris James who has 3 career carries and was just brought up from the practice squad after brign the with club for 3 weeks..
I know Peyton Manning is the 2nd Coming, but If Eagles can get pressure and control R Wayne
and not let Garcon get deep, the rest of their skill players are not game breakers at all…

Trotter once said that Jimmy Johnson’s halftime adjustments was to simply say “Play Harder”. McDermott has shown the ability to make adjustments. Ernie Sims finally shows up. Knocks Peyton out of the game with a clean hit. Shady McCoy dominates.

Eagles win 31 – 24.

I’m not to proud to be pleased they are coming here understrength. Peyton getting a touch of food poisoning might be helpful as well. It would even be okay with me in Mathis’ knee gets sore on the flight and they make him an inactive prior to the game. Then the Birds can gang up on Freeney, use a TE on that side, McCoy can chip at him, too. Nate Allen needs to avoid even looking at Manning, sort of like the way you avert your eyes from staring directly into the sun. Play your responsibility, do not let him look you off and out of position. Discipline, discipline, discipline.
