McNabb’s Deal Isn’t As Good As Originally Thought

Last night had to be extremely painful for Donovan McNabb despite the contract extension he signed yesterday.  He watched his former teammates wipe the floor with his football team.  McNabb threw three costly interceptions which put he Eagles in position to score three times.

His performance was no match for Michael Vick.  The three and outs which the Redskins had early in the game, set the table for the Birds offense to keep scoring and  blow them out of their own stadium.  It was total annihilation.

McNabb threw three interceptions and one of them was returned for a touchdown, while Vick threw none.  McNabb threw a couple of touchdowns while Vick threw four and ran for another two.

McNabb’s day at supposedly started out very well, but now after more information has surfaced, McNabb had lost the game and the negotiation.

Originally the report on his contract had him being guaranteed $40 million dollars of a possible $88 million dollar contract.  Now ESPN is reporting that the Redskins would only be on the hook for $3.75 million dollars if they were to release McNabb.

Guess what, he could be put on the street by the Redskins this off season.

Here’s what his deal looks like according to ESPN.

2010: $3.5 million signing bonus/$250,000 if active eight games

2011: $10 million option bonus/$2.5 million salary/$750,000 if active 16 games/$250,000 workout/$2 million possible playoff incentives

2012: $12.75 million salary/$750,000 if active 16 games/$250,000 workout/$2 million possible playoff incentives

2013: $13 million salary/$1.5 million if active 16 games/$250,000 workout/$2 million possible playoff incentives

2014: $13.75 million salary/$3 million if active 16 games/$250,000 workout/$2 million possible playoff incentives

2015: $13.55 million salary/$2.25 million if active 16 games/$250,000 workout/$2 million possible playoff incentives

Thnaks for the update G,
I had a hard time believing what was reported yesterday afernoon (even when it was the Redskins FO)
There is just no way that McNabb is going to get Brady/Manning type of $$$, at this stage of his career, and especially with a team like the current Redskins who have so many needs across the roster to become a legitimate Playoff /Super Bowl Contendor (O/L,WR,RB,DL,LB are old and not very talented)
They will need 2-3 Years of Good solid drafts and a few Free-agents (who are not busts) to be able to compete with the better teams in the NFL..
Depending how they and McNabb finish the Season, I think the Redskins will possible look to trade him (to get back some draft picks) and or even possibly release him for it doesn’t appear that there is a quick fix with him at QB in the near term for the Redskins..

How about the Eagles trade Kolb to Washington for Mcnabb and some draft picks so McNabb can come back here and backup Vick? Haaaaaa! Just had to amuse myself with that, I know there’s no way that could happen. Sounds like McNabb will be dealt or released by the Redskins next year. And I have to imagine the Eagles will find some trade partner for Kolb.

G, looks like the report from yesterday was just bad reporting all around. How do you go from 40 million guaranteed to 3.25 million. Just more “reporters” who want to be the first to break a story. Anyhow, his bodes well for the Eagles in negotiations with Vick because even though he will get a lot of money, you no longer have any comparison with a QB’s contract that you are playing light years better than.

His contract (McNabb’s) isn’t the only thing that isn’t as good as originally thought either….
