Vick dealing with bruised thigh

Per Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Andy Reid revealed today that Michael Vick has been getting treatment for a bruised thigh.

“Reid also said that Michael Vick has been receiving treatment for a bruised quadricps [sic], but that the QB is also good to go,” McLane tweets.

I don’t know that anyone is really concerned about this injury, but I do worry about more of them. At 6′ and about 215 lbs., Vick isn’t a giant. And it’s not just me being a part of the loud chorus for him to slide. This offensive line still worries me and he takes some big hits back there while running for his life.

Let’s hope he can hang in there for a little while longer and stay upright long enough for a deep playoff run.

He took that big hit to the thigh as he was running out of bounds I believe..
I think It’s time for QB Kolb to loosen that arm up and refresh himself with the playbook for he may get some snaps versus the Cowboys/Giants, who will be coming after VIck with the kitchen sink and Vick may have a very difficult time finishing either game if Coach AR keep’s calling pass plays 65% of the time or calls to use Vick on a QB Sneak when it’s 3rd and Short or down by the Goal Line..
Can’t the Eagles gain a yard with a normal running play.. .

Paul man, you better pray for Vick’s health for Kolb will be toast against the fronts we play against going forward. Did you see that stiff Manning against the Dallas rush last weak? He had no problem throwing them the flying pigs to get them off of his back, so what you think would happen with Kolb?

Refs need to do their damn jobs and call late hits for Vick as they do for every other freaking quarterback. Hitting a player out of bounds is a penalty, hitting a player in the head while he’s already on the ground is a penalty, hitting a quarterback after the ball is clearly out of his hands is a penalty if the player have space to pull up.

Now, when Vick runs he should be treated like a running back, but if the Refs at least call the penalties they usually call ….that should be enough to keep him healthy. I can’t think what Kevin Kolb we do to this team at this point.. That would be totally deflating and we may not win another game.

Paulman you are correct.

Andy Reids predictable play calling is the biggest problem. It’s not even the lack of talent on the offensive line. No team can keep protection play after play when the other team knows what you are going to do. Dallas killed us last year with draws, quick wr screens and slants to the blitzing side. They kept the defense off balance for both entire games. A few years ago the Rams opened the game and ran everyplay and stuffed the ball down the eagles throat. It caught the eagle defense off guard because they were expecting the greatest show on turf and they got 3 yards and a cloud of dust. It infuriated jimmy johnson and andy reid and they responded with a running drive of their own. both teams scored because the defense was not prepared for the run. that’s the game we lost a fullback(forgot his name).

Mccoy and his back up are the real deal. running wears any defense out and rest your defense. of course I am preaching to the choir. all of philly knows this including BYU Lavelle edwards disciple andrew reid. dallas is dangerous. those guys are playing and coaching for jobs. its a tough economy and I recently had a meeting with a former eagles defensive back who is selling insurance. believe me, he’d rather be playing football.

PS – I asked him how in the ____ was Macho Harris starting and he said it was politics. It’s at every work place. Even the NFL. That’s what I like about this years team. The organization is pulling trigger faster on bums who should not be starting. Up next, Ernie “I have not made one big play this entire year” Sims.

A linebacker that makes plays. That’s what I want for Christmas.

On a side note. I’ve always said Peyton Manning was overrated. Now that he has to deal with what Donovan McNabb had most of his career (lack of talent around him). He looks quite normal.

Brady is the best QB in the NFL. That guy has fire inside of him, and the best coach in the league. Even if he is a cheater.(belichek) Hey even mark zuckerberg pulled a fast one to get facebook started. Business is dog eat dog, and the eagles are wearing milk bone underwear until they understand that. It’s nice to have a team of choirboys but you need a few McNastys on both sides of the ball. After all it is simulated war.

I thought I was reading one of posts. LOL!

I’ve been saying it since the Titans game. Play calling is an issue. That’s what kept McNabb injured it’s doing the same to Vick, and it will do the same to Kolb. Predictable passing at as much as 88% will get any QB killed.

I thought you’re second post was mine as well.

That’s all you hear; Peyton doesn’t have any help. Isn’t Reggie Wayne having one of his best seasons?

McNabb played with garbage, and on top of that, Reid’s play-calling left him unprotected.

If Reid called plays 65% of the time, we’d probably be fine. But during the “meat of the game,” he’s always around 75%-85%.

drummer, good point. Peton is actually operating at a high completion rate this year (66%), but his interceptions have been killing him. He is on course to have his highest interception number since 2001. They have had injuries, but from his completion rate, he still has people to catch the ball. It is his poor decisions that lead to turnovers at the WORST time that has people questioning him.

I think QB T Brady got a big leg up on the MVP running. He was flawless last night

Paulman’s Rankings for NFL MVP Award

#1) Patriots QB T Brady
#2) Packers QB A Rodgers
#3) EAGLES QB M Vick
#4) Falcons QB M Ryan
#5) Saints QB D Brees

I think all other QB’s from good/decent teams have played their way out of the running
like Rivers,Mannings,Sanchez,Flacco are not in the conversation anymore and then there are some surprises QB’s who are having very good seasons like J Cutler,J Freeman,M Cassell and may garner some support as they have had success as their teams have

Paulman..I noticed Brady or Rodgers was not in your top 3 a few weeks ago and by the way…where did Philip Rivers go?

and since you are talking about lights out…where does Brady performance last night falls in comparison to Vick’s performance against the Redskins in Washington DC?

What’s funny is based on your inconsistent ratings a player is 2 weeks from being added or not mentoned at all, so regardless of your inconsistencies we can agree that Vick is always mentioned..2 weeks from now we’ll see you juggling again by adding and subtrating others but you’ll never give the one constant MVP candidate week in and week out his true position.

I believe with Belichick as coach that team would win with or without Brady and we can not say the same for the Eagles.

Michael Vick is heading the MVP talk all over the nation….Rodgers over Vick?

Songs,
Don’t you think putting 45 points versus the NY Jets D is impressive too.
The Redskins Defense is pretty poor and in a free-fall, I think the Giants just put 31 Points on them with basically no WR’s and a make-shift O/L, but that’s another story for another time.
VIck’s perfomance vs the Redskins was one for the ages as one of the best all around games by a QB in the history of the NFL, but 1 great game does not make a MVP in my book,
Patriots are 10-2 with average weapons and Eagles are 8-4 with the young guns, so let’s see where they are after week #16.. It’s now between QB’s Brady,Rodgers,Vick and Ryan, I believe…
Rodgers case is that he’s played in every game and has gotten better and better as the Season has gone along so he is in the running ..Ryans case is that he’s potentially led the Falcons to a 1st ever #1 Seed in the NFC.
Personally, I don’t really care about the Individual Awards or Pro-Bowl Selections for they are nothing but popularity contests for the most part, but you are the one who keeps bringing it up Songs

Brady is the league MVP right now. He’s doing what he did when they were winning championships. And this time not with a great defense. That dismantling last night was ridiculous. He has the leg up because his team is 10-2, the stats he is putting up and he’s played more games than Vick. No way Vick is ahead of him at this point in a MVP race. Having said that, Vick isn’t that far behind. Rodgers probably gets the nod slightly ahead because he’s played all year. Of course that’s not Vick’s fault, but it is what it is. But again, at the end of the day I don’t care. As long as Vick is playing like an MVP candidate that’s all that matters. Brady is just surgical out there though.

In my opinion, I am not devoting a whole week to the stinkin cowgirls. No more “Dallas week” for me. I’m tired of acting like playing the cowboys is the Super Bowl. It’s not. Let’s just go out there and take care of business like we’ve been doing and not make it any bigger than it has to be. Now when we play the Giants (our #1 rivals) for the division then I’ll devote a week. Right now, them cockroaches are just a small obstacle and don’t deserve anymore hype than it already is. Just my thoughts.

I don’t agree with all of Paulman’s rankings or lists, but I do agree with him in the fact that player rankings change from week to week. 3 weeks ago everyone was talking about Rivers as the MVP. Not he’s probably not even top 5 on most of those people’s lists. It changes just like power rankings. And right now, Brady is playing like a man. Vick is also doing the same. In my opinion, Brady gets the edge because he stats because he’s played all season. It’s hard to argue against what’s Brady is doing against teams like Baltimore, Chargers, Jets, Steelers, and Colts with a bad defense and no real superstar offensive weapons while being 10-2. Just hard to argue that. And come on, we know how the NFL and writers look at Brady, the golden child.

I don’t think it’s a doubt in anyone’s mind that Vick is playing at an MVP better but that doesn’t mean that someone isn’t playing better. I think what Vick is doing is tremendous but I just think it’s too hard to put him over the Brady when Brady has been doing it all season and against the level of talent that’s he’s playing. Not saying we are playing slouches because we aren’t but to give a little perspective.

Brady has a higher QB rating, completion percentage, 7 more TDs passes but only 2 more INTs (because of playing more games), team has more wins (even though Vick has only lost 1 game).

Now I think if Vick would not have missed any games and started from the jump he would have similar stats or possibly better. But unfortunately we cannot deal with woulda shoulda couldas. But the good thing is, we still have 4 more games. And who knows Vick can probably play out of his mind a couple more times and get his stats more comparable even with less games played. Now if he does that then there should be no question at all.

I think the one thing that’s a big factor that people probably don’t consider is the amount of drives Vick keeps alive with his legs. This kind of thing doesn’t get factored into QB rating so it does a disservice to guys like Vick who run 8 yards for a TD instead of dumping off to a RB who gets the first. So the QB who dumped the ball off gets a completion while the one who runs doesn’t even though both plays extended the drive. I think these are the things that would hurt Vick. I don’t think it should but I think it will because of the bias towards Brady and the number of people who still doesn’t want to see Vick succeed. At worst he should be NFL offensive player of the year.

Things Change which is a greeat thing about the NFL,Sports, this web-site and life in general which is what keeps us fans interested..(or at least me interested)
Vick having his Jersey to the HOF for a record-breaking performance on MNF is a great honor and achievement..but again, 1 great game in front of a Natioanl Audience in mid-Novemeber does not
crown an MVP
Vick is running 3rd/4th per my sources behind Brady,Rodgers & Ryan who have a larger body of work this season (All 3 have played in every game) and all 3 teams they play for have better records
than the Eagles at this point (actually the Packers are 8-4 like the Eagles)
Let’s worry about the games and if successful, then the other stuff will follow

December 7, 2010 11:24 am

jroc, I don’t think it’s “not-pulling” for Vick. Well I’m not sure about Paulman, he always has his own bias. But that’s the problem with some people, just because a person thinks another person is doing better doesn’t mean we aren’t “pulling” for Vick. I want Vick to win every award possible but that doesn’t mean he is the most qualified because that’s what I want. Just looking at a realistic view and not because Vick is our QB doesn’t mean you don’t want him to win it. Personally, I could care less about all that. I rather him continue to play like he’s doing and win games.

When was the last time a league MVP won the Super Bowl? How often does the the MVP win the Super Bowl?

Back in the 90s a lot of the time the MVP at least always appeared in the Super Bowl but in the 2000s. So do I want him to win? Yes. But the team’s success is much more important right now. Like I said, he should win Offensive player of the year at the least. Now that’s without question.

Have Vick had one performance like Ryan had against the Eagles? He was pathetic.

I think they focused too much on making big plays and getting Moss involved. Yeah it worked for one year but that’s really not who the Patriots are. I am pulling for Vick for the better Vick does then that means the better the Eagles are doing,
but that doesn’t mean I can’t acknowledge all the other players ann teams who are playing well and even better than the Eagles or Vick too..
Take a look at Falcon WR R White’s #’s , he’s having a unbelievable season and almost Jerry Rice like..well who is throwing him the ball in Atlanta.. They are 10-2 and will possibly go on and be the #1 Seed in the NFC with home field advantage where they have won all their games and have only lost to good teams like the Steelers and Eagles on the Road this season which is pretty darn good accomplishment, If you asked most NFL Observors and regualr posters on here , most would have
