Vick Says He’s Confident, About 75% Healthy And Improving

Michael Vick was encountered at the Eagles Nova Care Complex by a group of media persons and he’s looking ahead confidently regarding the contest with the Green Bay Packers.  It seemed that he was letting everybody know that “he’s got this” in some of his remarks.

“He’s got this” means he’s confident that he and his teammates can make the adjustments needed to be productive against the blitzes they’re going to see.

Vick was interviewed on his weekly radio show in Virginia Beach, Virginia and talked about his injured and improving  thigh. Vick told the radio audience that he improved from 50% to 75% in one day.

According to Profootballtalk.com, he said he’s about 75% right now and continues to improve.  As for whether there’s any way he misses this game the quarterback responded with certainty.

“That’ll never happen,” Vick said.  “Regardless of what the situation is, I’m gonna make sure I’m there for my team. . . . I’m pretty confident that I’ll be able to go out there and play.”

Let’s examine close what Vick said when he was approached by a group of media persons yesterday at the Nova Care Complex and according to PhillySportsDaily.com, he talked about his thigh injury.

“I feel a lot better just having the opportunity to rehab, and just focus on getting my leg better and taking it one day at a time,” said Vick. “The time off has been great for me, and I took full advantage of it.”

Vick was asked if he is at 100 percent.

“I’m getting there,” he said.

He’s not concerned that he and the offense have struggled the last couple of games.  He was deviant when talking to the media.

“I don’t have to do nothing, I’m still going to be me,” according to PhillySportsDaily.com Vick said.  “I’m still going to play my game.  Still play with confidence, still try to rally the guys around me and make sure they are in tune with what we are trying to do and what we are trying to accomplish.  That’s what’s important:  You can’t change your game this time in the season. . . .  You just go out and play your best football now that it’s the playoffs.”

He does need to change back to what he was doing earlier in the season.  He must think throw first and run second.  He must read blitz then get rid of the football.  If he reads the blitz early and often it will force the Packers to abandon it.

His job won’t be easy because he’ll be going against, Dom Capers, the creator of the zone blitz.  Vick can’t anticipate what coverages he will see when he reads blitz.  He’s got to be smart with the football.

Vick admitted that he needs to do a better job of getting the ball out of his hands and to the team’s playmakers.

“It’s not an issue, it’s just things we need to work on,” Vick said.  “A couple games I didn’t get the ball out as quick as I wanted to, waiting on the downfield throws. That’s why you play the game — you play the game to get better and that’s what I’m doing.”

Getting the ball out of his hands isn’t just about Vick.  The wide receivers have to make a point to read the blitz and be ready for it when they see blitz.  It wasn’t an accident that Vick said everybody on the team should be motivated to step up at this time of the season.

“Win or go home, and that should motivate everybody. Do your job or you won’t be playing next week.”

I didn’t know Vick was a Math Major at Virgina Tech..
50% to 75% better in 1 Day… C’Mon Man…. Must be that Songs/PW/Jroc Math Class he took
Anything less than a 100% Healthy Vick, and the the Eagles have very little chance in Winning..

Not to over simplify but in many ways it’s pretty straight forward. Manage QB pressure and they win the game. Like many have said, a veteran QB and offense, which the Eagles have, should know how and be able to manage QB pressure. Blitzing opens opportunities if your well prepared for it and they should be since what the Packers like to do on defense is no surprise to anyone. Yes, the Packers are good but they are, after all, 10-6 and beatable. If the Eagles put the game on the QB’s shoulders, like they’ve done in the past with McNabb, they’ll lose. Like nearly every playoff game, it will take a total team effort to win. We’ll see if Reid’s put his players in a position to succeed or not

Why even play the game P-man….I mean really, what is the guys supposed to say? If you have deemed that “we have very little chance of winning”, why even play the game? Better yet, since you are so certain in your proclaimation, why don’t you bet your mortgage on the Packers, if you are that certain??

Yeah, I would agree that there are things with this team that have concerned me the entire year. Areas that were never addressed, and areas where I have been suprised.

But we are in the playoff’s, why spend this week acting like a scared little girl? You can do that the entire off-season. I heard similar things before the Colts game about how there was no way our defense was going to stop Peyton….I heard that Andre Johnson and Matt Schaub were going to destroy our defense.

Well guys, how many before the season thought we would be the #3 seed in the NFC playoff’s? I was here, and there weren’t many that truthfully believed we would even make the playoffs. Why start to cower now, crying that we have no chance?

We have a home game on Sunday. The Packers have had their issues over the year too. They are a good team, but so are the Eagles. Sure, there are issues with our gameplans, our play-calling and some personel, but why quit now.

We have a dynamic new leader that has amazed much of the league with his play. I say we focus on what we do to beat the Packers this week and if Paulman is correct, and things don’t go well, then we have the entire off-seaon to bitch and complain, but for now, WE ARE IN THE PLAYOFF’S…GO BIRDS!!!

Look I like this guy Michael Vick….. No matter what 75-85%…. THis guy is doing and saying all the right things……. He has been very confident when he speaks and his play on the field speaks for its self…. The Eagles have been pretty good on adjusting defensive schemes thus far this season…… I think they will execute and MM will put up a outstanding resume for him to coach elsewhere! (Cleveland) to be exact!!

@Greenfan…… I with you 100% (NO HOMO)……. Look there were a lot of so-call Eagle Fans on this site and I am not going to name any names…… But were saying this team will be 6-10 if better 8-8 missing the playoffs……. We beat the odds and shut up alot of these speakers or analyst they say they are…….. And made the 3rd seed and could have gotten a 1rd. bye but thats another story…… We made it in….. 0-0…. New start….. We need to execute on both ends of the ball….. No Jermichael Finley who killed us on key catches first game of the season…….. GO EAGLES

Rex Ryan is the most confident coach no matter what the circumstances are……. I like his attitude and how he carries him self…… He speaks highly of his players and his coaching staff around him….. Its all about your A game……. We shall bring it……. A very banged up GB team who is still dangerous…… It seems to me we should look at alot of the Det. Lions defensive footage……. They seem to have a good scheme against GB…… And with Joe Webb LOL…… I still cant believe that loss….. JOE WEBB????

Another thing is that……. Ndamukong Suh….. DT…… Who is a beast and maybe the best DT in the league for years to come…… We all see that Arron Rodgers struggles against a good front four…… The eagles focused in so so much on our front four and less production from them on the pass rush…… This all comes down to Rory Seagress not getting the job done on getting these guys prepared to get the job done……. Except for Trent Cole who goes hard on every down……

Is this a tough matchup with GB? Yes, but it is the playoffs, what do expect?

It isn’t every playoff team that gets to play the Seahawks in the 1st round, of course this is a tough matchup, but it doesn’t mean that we should fold our tent and go home.

If you are too afraid of losing go play T-ball where they don’t keep score and “everybody wins”.

To Jroc757
The Lions Def Front 4 is better than the Eagles.
Their Head Coach Jim Schwartz Specializes in Defensive Lines and DT N Suh is better player than any Eagle D-lineman
Whose banged up on the Packers, they are actually as healthy as they’ve been all season…
I told you all about J Webb, that he is the 2nd coming of Randall Cunningham and you guys didn’t beleive me…

Come on Paulman J Webb second coming of Randall Cunningham…… Are you serious??? He’ll be a WR soon…… Trust me a Antwone Randel El gadget guy very soon….. The Vikings are not going to build there franchise around this guy…… I’m black and I know that Fraizer isnt going to risk his job on Joe Webb LMAO……… Look Fraizer will learn from coaches such as Romeo Crenell and Art Shell and Mike Singletary to not risk your job!!!!!

Fraizier leanrned from Buddy Ryan too and he says “strap em on boys, and lets go kick some ass”..
Webb has a chance in 2 years time with the proper coaching to be a legitimate NFL QB just like
Randall was when he came out of the College..
I don’t think any young aspiring coach will be searching for any advice from Mike SIngletary, who could not win or even be competitive with the most talented team by far in the NFC West, that only produce 5 wins and a 3rd place finish in the very weak NFC West and alienated so many players on his team…

Just like Randall CUnningham did in his early days G, who was very inconsistent if we all remember..
Anyone watching that Lions game knew the Vikings were spent after playing the Eagles with just
4 days rest and were going to be flat.. The kid (Webb) was in his 2nd NFL start going against a much better defensive Front 4 in the Lions than what the Eagles have
You want to know what the real sad part is G– the fans at the Lions game were more into their team and games than at the Eagles final 2 home games… This LInc field is not intimidating at all and teams don’t think twice about coming into Philly anymore to play the Eagles

GarryCobb you are right about that one……. He cut up defensive end Juqua Parker Ginzu Knife style…… He looked like Cam Newton against us LOL……. Joe Webb and the other no name guys seem to get a good 15mins. of fame against the Eagles….. We shut down the good ones like Brett Favre through the years but a guy like Joe Webb has a career game under his belt……. LOL…. The Lions brought him back to reality quick fast in a hurry LOL!!

Eagles are similar the Phillies in the respect,
Phils always came thru against the top pitchers and have had great success against the likes of
N Ryan, R Clemens, R Johnson, M MAddux and then they can only get 2 hits against some no-name PItcher making his 1st Start in the big leagues…
Eagles have made Shaun HIll,K Collins, J Cutler, Webb, all look like All-Pros this season while
containing Top QB’s in Rodgers,Mannings,Schaub in check…
It’s a Good thing they faced McNabb twice so they didn’t have to make Rex Grossman lool like the 2nd coming of J Elway..
It’s amazing that castaway Rex Grossman playing QB, after not taking a NFL snap in over 2 + years has had more success with these same crappy Redskins with their crappy O/L, Crappy WR’s and Coaches than McNabb did all season long… talk about a fraud, I am officially changing his name to “D McFraud”

Webb to Cunningham? lol.. a better comparison would be to Culpepper…Lets be real, its hard to believe that Vick has been playing 100% healthy the last 6 games…Vick does not have to be 100% for the team to win! Paulman, give it a rest! Possibly the coaching staff put Grossman in a better position to win than McNabb…the track record doesn’t seem to be that supportive of 5. However, you do make a good point, we’ll be facing the leagues top QB’s in the playoffs, so if that trend continues it will be very positive for the Eagles….

Ok so he’s not 100% but mentally he sounds like he is focused and ready to play and thats half the battle. The other half for him will be going out and actually playing. I do agree with G though, he needs to read the blitz and get rid of the ball otherwise its going to be a long game for him.
