DeSean Jackson Tells Fans Don’t Sweat The Lockout, It Will Get Worked Out

DeSean Jackson was on the NFL Network last night and he didn’t disappoint. You might not like Jackson, but you have to admit that he’s got charisma and can’t do anything without attracting attention.

He sat down with NFL Network show host Fran Charles and addressed the lockout.

Before speaking his mind, Jackson knew Eagles fans were watching or would hear about his appearance, so he acknowledged all of them, and spoke to the fans and talked about how much he was missing them. I doubt he was missing Philly when he was walking around in the 70 degree weather in Los Angeles, while it was 30 degrees back here. I understand him saying that because he had to say it.

He brushed off the lockout and instructed Eagles fans not to worry about it too much because he feels it will get worked out.

“Don’t get too worried” about the lockout”, the wide receiver instructed. “Hopefully, a plan will be put together real soon, in a hurry, for us to be back at work . . . the best I can say right now is, I’m definitely missing my Philadelphia Eagles fans, not being in Philadelphia and not doing the offseason workouts and things like that. I just want to say, Eagles fans, we’ll be back to work real soon, in a hurry, hopefully. Everything will work out, in my eyes; I think so.”

DeSean says he’s eager and ready to get back to the business of playing football as soon as he can.

“I’m ready to get back to work. I know my teammates, I know the rest of the guys in the NFL are,” Jackson said. “This is important to us. This is our livelihood, this is what we do, this is what pays our bills, and it’s only fair to let us get back out there and to agree to something, so we can just keep getting better, and progressing as athletes.”

Jackson was trying to play the humble role but every time Charles, former Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner, or NFL Network reporter Steve Wyche gave him a compliment, he couldn’t help but agree with them.

You could tell that the little guy was happy to be there and had been looking forward to this moment when he would get his respect on national television in front of the entire league. Jackson did a demonstration with Charles, Warner and Wyche on the turf field. The speedy wideout explained what goes through his mind when he lines up at the line of scrimmage.

In a roundabout way, DeSean let everybody know that he didn’t think anybody could cover him. Jackson described how he felt playing in the NFL at only 5’9″ and weighing on 169 pounds. Jackson is confident in his abilities and it doesn’t matter how hard he tries, he can’t play the humble role.

I thought he had some good wisdom to share with the rookies about how they should make their decisions about whether to accept an invite to the draft in New York.

“The biggest advice I think I would give them is, that’s an experience you only get one time. Don’t let that experience go by.”

When asked whether we have seen the best of DeSean Jackson, the wide receiver said the best is yet to come with regards to his performance on the football field. “I just see myself getting smarter and more intelligent, just getting more comfortable every year.”
