I see that about 20 of the Arizona Cardinals got in a workout today as a team. It’s about time the Eagles started working out. Birds quarterback Michal Vick said they’re going to put together some team workouts in South Jersey. It’s time for the team leaders to assert themselves and get in some work.
They’ll be able to find out if all the guys who around here are getting in some work and staying in shape. Unfortunately they can’t do much with the guys who are out of town.
Getting away from the game for a month or two is one thing, but once it’s starts getting into three and four months, it’s going to take awhile of work before the quarterbacks and receivers are able to start getting a true benefit out of making passes and running routes.
The quarterbacks and receivers, along with everybody that’s involved in executing or stopping the passing game should start getting in some work together. Timing is vital to operating a passing game. It doesn’t take long to get out of sync, especially when you have quarterbacks and receivers who haven’t worked together for a long time.
Michael Vick needs to start going through the three-step routes, as well as the five-step routes and the seven-step routes. In the west coast offense, all of the patterns and plays are connected to the depth of the quarterback’s drop from center. It would be good if Vick were able to start working with the receivers that are still here in town.
I know DeSean Jackson is in L.A., but Vick can throw to Jeremy Maclin, Jason Avant and the other receivers.
This is a time when Brent Celek and Vick could get in some extra work with each other and some defenders.
I want to see Vick develop the same chemistry with Celek, which he has with the other top receivers, Jackson, Maclin and Avant. If they want to destroy teams that try to blitz them, one of his key targets will be Celek. The one-on-one chemistry is created with extra work. Both the receiver and the quarterback must be on the same page and the timing has to get to where it’s muscle memory.
Use of the tight end position is one of the easiest ways get the football out of the quarterback’s hands. They can improvise as they read the same defense, then attack it by going downfield or finding open route short.
The teams that get in consistent work could give themselves an advantage if the lockout continues for most if not all of the off season.
Maybe get Kafka, R Cooper, Harbor and some of these young WR’s that are on the Practice Squad together too.
Somebody’s agent will advise his client not to particpate..
I think if they want to wina ring than they better get there butts in here an get as much work as they need its time to stop acting like kids an start putting it together or we will be at the same place we were last year an that home
Why would it matter if Desean was in California? If the TEAM is working our or the WIDE RECEIVERS are working out, why shouldn’t he be there? Isn’t he part of the TEAM or the WIDE RECEIVERS? I cannot imagine all 20 of those Cardinals live nearby….they came back to work out with team mates. Desean should be expected to do the same!!!

when all he does is run 2-3 Passing Routes, the Deep Post , Fly Route and the Deep Crossing Route…He can practice that with his buddies out on the Beach in Southern California and even have former USC/Raiders QB Todd Mariniovich toss him some balls… Also I think Tom Brady lives out there too along the beaches
