Comcast Looking To Unload The Struggling 76ers

You could understand a booming company like Comcast which recently purchased NBCUniversal, doesn’t have time to be bothered with a struggling franchise, like the Sixers, in the NBA, which has also seen better days.

The Sixers played in front of virtually an empty building in 2009, 2010 and 2011. Although, they had the second pick in the 2010 NBA draft and used it to draft, Evan Turner, and he was a major disappointment. Bottomline is that the Sixers don’t have a big-time drawing card.

Do you think the Philadelphia 76ers have been making money or losing money during that time?

You don’t need to answer that question because Comcast let us know that there’s something about the Sixers that they don’t like, when they decided to sell the company. Forbes says the team lost $1.2 million dollars last year because of the poor attendance. The NBA is also headed for a bitter fight involving its CBA.

There have been numerous reports that New York-based leverage specialist and Wharton grad Joshua Harris and his group are in the process of working out a deal with Comcast Spectacor to purchase the Sixers.

Yesterday the report was confirmed by Comcast-Spectacor Chief Operating Officer Peter Luukko: “I can confirm that we are in discussions about the future of the team, but these discussions are confidential and we cannot talk about the details. At some point, we may have something more to say about these discussions, but we will not be making any comments at this point.”

It’s been obvious for a long time that the Sixers basketball club are Ed Snider’s step children. His heart is in the Flyers but he can’t convince anybody that he feels the same way about the 76ers. They need to find an owner who loves and believes in this organization like former Sixers President Pat Croce used to do.

How about a consortium of Dr J & Sonny Hill and other Philly area Businessmen and Sport Enthusiasts..
I have stated for many years now that since Current Owner Ed Snider never really gave a crap about the 76ers Team, that the lack of focus and a true sense of urgency abou winning and putting a good team stops from the Top and flows downhil.. It’s easy to blame Players and Coaches who have come and gone, but it’s been the lack of leadership from the Top (Snider and the Executive Group with the GM’s) that have run this proud franchise into the ground… Only with the tenacious Collins and current staff, have they bounced back to respectabilitiy.. Let’s get some winners Owning the 76ers not the “Has-been, Mobster wanna-be Ed Snider” ..

JOTT, Stefanski is cooked. The new Owners will want all their own peeps. He’s been weeded out by Thorn anyway. Has anyone seen or heard from him since Thorn came aboard? Put out an APB & missing persons report. Collins staff is safe, I think.

Runtheball09, John Wall had a solid year n may turn into a superstar player, id rathered them draft D cousins because that woulda solved our center void…
I think they drafted Evan Turmer to replace iggy in the first place the more i think about it… so if they trade him down the pike it wont suprise me…

Espn is now reporting that the 76ers are in discussions with the LA clippers to trade Andre Iguodala for Chris Kaman, evidently the clippers want to go with DeAndre Jordan long term…

Kaman is a nice player, always hurt and I don’t think he’s quite tough enough to play in the Eastern Conference.. The 76ers would have to get more for Iggy than Chris Kaman like 6-4″ Guard Randy Foye, then I would think about it..
How about Sixers tradre Iggy & Kapona (whose from Southern California) for
C Kaman and Guard Randy Foye… I would take this deal if 76ers..

The sixers did like foye coming out of college, he has a nice game. Yea i agree idt kaman would be enough in that deal… This is what our starting lineup would look like

PG Jrue Holiday
SG Randy Foye/ unless ET is ready
SF Thad Young
PF Elton Brand (Ugh)
C Chris Kaman

Not bad, I do prefer Thad Young coming off the bench instead of being a Starter.. I think the starting 5 needs to have defensive/rebounding force along
the Frontline and especially since Brandt/Kaman are more known for their Offense than their work at the Defensive end.. Then you have L Willams,J Meeks,E Turner, T Young and S Hawes make up the 2nd Unit
Maybe M Speights starts at PF and T Young still ends up playing 30-35 Minutes a game..
