Mornhinweg: “You can’t play scared, man, you gotta go”

Eagles offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg was tredding softly this morning when talking about what he expects to see on Sunday from his offense. With the limited time to prepare and an offensive line that’s never played together before, Mornhinweg wasn’t predicting fire works.

He was coming across very humbly until he was asked something about being afraid. That when he came out and refused to show any signs of fear.

“You can’t play scared, man, you gotta go, he said.” You and I know how Reid and Mornhinweg love to go for the jugular on the offensive side of the ball from the first play on, but St. Louis has got some good pass rushers and they like to blitz, so every time the Birds ask Michael Vick to look deep for a big play, they’re taking a chance.

I think we’re going to see a lot of maximum protection when the Birds ask Vick to look downfield.

Mornhinweg knows what to expect from Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo because he learned how to coach defense from a guy Mornhinweg battled in practiced for years. The defensive scheme that Spags will use “looks and smells like Jim Johnson’s”, according to Marty.

I heard Spagnuolo talking about the Eagles offense and he talked about Vick and those receivers. I expect Spagnuolo to come after Vick, so we’ll see who wins the battle because Mornhinweg and Reid are going to attack the St. Louis defense first and foremost.

He was non-committal about who was starting at right guard, but it’s a sure thing that Kyle DaVan will be the starter. “Kyle DeVan is still adjusting to the terminology but has looked sharp in practice”, Marty said.

Mornhinweg had nothing but superlatives to describe the play of wide receiver Steve Smith, but he wouldn’t guarantee that he will play.

Morhinweg versus Spagnuolo will be a very interesting battle.

Why is everyone so upset. We have Andrew Walter Reid as our HC. Greatest Coach in Eagles history. We will be sure to make the playoffs like we do all the time. Andrew just can’t figure out how to win the big one!

“You can’t play scared.” Translated, “We are going to throw the ball 80% of the game, & we don’t give a crap if the O-line blows & if people have a problem with it.” Go F#@k, Marty & take your meat jockey, Andy Reid with you!!!! Rush the ball down their throats & short pass them to death with Celek, Shady & the WR’s, you foolish dopes!!!!
