Phillip Hunt Will Get A Chance To Show His Skills On Sunday

The Eagles signed Canadian Football League free agent Phillip Hunt during this past off season and they were hoping he would follow the path of former Canadian Football defensive end Cameron Wake, who has become a Pro Bowler with the Dolphins.

Hunt is thrilled to be getting the chance to play this weekend. Darryl Tapp is down with a pectoral strain, so Hunt will get his first chance to play for the Birds in a regular season game. It’s not the way he would have wanted it to come, but he’s got to make the best of the situation.

“The opportunity has presented itself and I have to make the most of it and make plays and do what I have to do to be a legitimate guy in this league”, Hunt said yesterday.

Hunt is a speed rusher and he made quite an impression on the Eagles coaching staff. Defensive line coach Jim Washburn wants the fells to fly off the ball and get upfield on the way to the quarterback. The undersized, speedy defensive end fits into this system.

“You know, they want us to get up field and attack and I can do that. I have a good get off and I’m good at doing what they want us to do, and that’s hitting the quarterback.”

We will see if he can make an impact tomorrow like the guy he’s replacing did last weeken.

No more experiments. Note Andy reid had Vick in the game late in the fourth quarter throwing the ball on 4th down while he was being rushed by eight guys and he was hit pretty hard. The game was well in hand and with over two dozen coach types what a stupid move on Reids part. Could it be that his hunger for food at the end of the game overrides his common sense. Why didn’t they call a running play to protect Vick. Dumb Dumb Dumb

agree with larrwd. I would have like to seen Gocong given more of a chance at defensive end. He was certainly a waste of space at linbebacker. I think Hunt will have a big game

BigE I took note of that as well. For the life of me, I can’t figure the guy (Reid) out. What’s up with passing with the game under control? Is he deliberately trying to screw Vick? If so, for who, for what? What in hell is the trying to prove? I just don’t get it.

Hunt is a Down lineman and not a Stand out LB Vricchini,
Let him do what he does best.. Hunt reminds me of a young T Cole.. Hunt can add 10-15 lbs of strngth and work on his lower body and core and I think he can delvelop into a solid rotational pass-rusher (let him play 15-20 snaps a game and he can get you 6-8-10 sacks over the course of a season)
