Vick: “I’m not coming out of the game this week regardless”

Michael Vick practiced with the team today and was full participant in the workout. He’s eager to play and said he was pleased with his practice and he’s sure he will play on Sunday.

“The only way I’m coming off the field is if they cart me off”, Vick said. He considered the concussion he suffered against Atlanta and the hand injury which occurred against the Giants are both one in a lifetime incidents. The quarterback doesn’t plan on spending any more time on the sideline than he has to.

“I’m telling you, I’m not coming out of the game”, Vick said today after practice. “You’ll have to cart me off the field.”

He was wearing a glove on his right hand during practice but we don’t know if he had extra padding on it, today, but that will be the case on this weekend. The Eagles quarterback will wear special padding around his right hand on Sunday when the Eagles take on the 49ers. “We’ll have it protected. Unequal, baby.”

The Unequal comment was a way of getting some exposure for Unequal Technologies, which is a company that Vick endorses and that make padding which is supposed to lessen the impact and effect of hits.

Does Vick have the ability to call the blocking schemes, find the open receiver, and get the ball off in a short period of time or is all this too much for him. Andy Reid and Marty don’t seem to help him at all with their play calling and the offensive line can’t punch out one yard except for the left side. Vick doesn’t protect the ball well with two good hands. How will he do with a frigin oven mit on his right hand.

It just hit me, This entire Season is a charade and a conspiracy all arranged
by the Powers to Bee at Unequal (A Chinese Company who secretly is negoitiating to purchase the Eagles from Lurie and relocate it to Los Angeles,Ca)
Lurie and Banner are involved, The Mayor of Philly, The NFL Commish, Agents and Marketing firm who Represent Vick, City Leaders of Los Angeles, Corporate Officers of Unequal, The Chinese Government and of course, Schiller..
I knew something was going on, this Season just hasn’t felt right to me for some reason…

Paulman who do you think will be the head coach for the Los Angelos Chopsticks?

Brian Baldinger just broke down Desean Jackson. He said he has looked at film and said he doesnt know what Mary Morningweg is doing. He looked at all the top recievers in the NFL stats and DJax 47 catches. He said do you really think DJax cant get 80-100 catches? Of course he could but for some reason Marty has him running 30 yard routes every damn play. He said you could line DJax up in the slot or move him around like Welker and nobody on earth could cover him 5-15 yard routes. He could do exactly what Welker does but more explosive. But Marty insist on running him on the outside exclusively on 20-30 yard patterns. He said they arent designing nothing for him. Take it for what its worth. I dont have access to coaches film just like the rest of you.

Problem with that Daggolden is that Desean Jackson only seems to have hands when he runs deep routes. He dropped many balls between the 5-15 yard line from scrimage because his reflexes are not that good.

This team wins off of the big play. They are not a ground and pound they are not a move the chains offense. Its big plays for them or end up in the loss column.

It dont take a genius to see how this coaching staff thinks. They dont look at it as a whole meaning “oh I have desean as my big play guy and I have Maclin as my route runner and I have Steve Smith and Jason Avant as my 3rd down guy” New England does not have that problem. Although Wes Welker is good in the slot he also goes deep as well. The eagles dont have that versitle player at wide out just a bunch of WR’s that are really good at one thing.

Biggest game of the Year , Jimmy Mac (Until the following week anyways)
1-3 is not the end of the world but 2-2 is so much better and I am afraid of what will hapeen to this teams pshyche if they fall to 1-3 for I am not sure they have enough veteran leadership on the Defensive side of the ball to keep things together… Maybe C Jenkins is that player since T Cole/M Patterson are kind of the quiet type, Q Mikell will be missed more for his lockeroom leadersip then most of us realize…
But at 1-3 start would mean 49ers would be 3-1 and with other improrved teams in the NFC (Lions,TB Bucs,Redskins, etc, etc) , to have 3 NFC Confernce losses after the first 4 games would be very hard to overcome
and would require a major winning streak and winning all 5 remaining NFC East Games for theEagles would have to win the NFC East most likley to even make the playoffs due to the strength of the North and South Divisions this year..

We have a powerful team on all fronts, it is the coaches that have us in a bind. Look let Vick be Vick, take some of those open lane runs (Wear down the D), hand off more to McCoy (wear down the D), let Brown do the power runs more (Bruise the D), look for avant and smith in the blitz (defend the D), get to Maclin on intermeds (Panic the D), when the D is confused and adjusting the wrong way at the wrong time, then go Jax (Destroy the D), then my friend to steal a horrifying military term to pinned infantry “ROUNDS ON TARGET, FIRE FOR EFFECT”

From here the Defense will “Close with and destroy the Enemy with close combat.

As always ‘LONG LIVE THE EAGLES’

I am critical of Andy right now, but I still like the dude, just use your weapons you mook.

If they don’t make it at least to the NFC Championship game, does Andy,Marty and Juan lose his job?

paulman

September 29, 2011 10:36 am

The Answer is no,
AR is signed thru the 2013 Season, all the top Assistants (Mudd,Washburn,Lynne) are signed thru 2012.. This Staff will have thru 2012 Season to get to the SUperbowl… If they don’t turn it around this SUnday versus the 49ers, the Eagles won’t even make the Playoffs and will have 3 NFC Conference losses already before they even get into their hard part of their schedule.. This game Sunday is the most importatnt game of the Season, a loss here and this Season is lost I am afraid…
Also remember that Vick has signed a long-term deal and Coach AR,MM and Vick are all tied to the hip in this thing… So the Eagles have committed a lot of $$$ to Vick who is the Face of the Franchise for the next few Seasons, What HC and Offensive Coordinator do you bring in that will utilize and like the way Vick plays “QB” …

I think Gruden fits the Eagles style! And it wouldn’t take him long to make an impact! I just feel and I’m sure most of the fans feel that it takes a GREAT coach to win the SB, not just a “good coach.” I don’t think Reid is Ferocious enough! And he looks confused against Great coaches. Nor does he do the common sense things like, “Using Ronnie Brown in the red zone last week”, NOT starting Matthews…. I’m sure I sound like a broken record, but damn! Then the move with Juan as DC….Juan is super hyper and that’s it! The D has to rely on their personal game wisdom and talent….cause Juan is a lost puppie out there!

navyeaglefan
navyeaglefan
September 29, 2011 11:25 am

Still – really – do you have an original thought in your head – even one – Gruden does not in any way shape or form fit the Eagles style – he is a short dink and dunk horizontal passing game kind of coach – umm……. our Offense is built around a vertical passing game and McCoy….

thoughts from his own TB players when he won the SB – Despite the Super Bowl win, there were many, including players on the Buccaneers like Warren Sapp, who attributed Gruden’s win primarily to the defense that coach Tony Dungy and defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin had created during Dungy’s tenure with the Bucs.

The Bucs won the SB in 2002 – you know what they refer to the period 2003-2008 in Tampa – the period of struggle – they went from 12-4 and SB champs to being fired after 2008 – this is the Gruden that brouight you Chris Sims – the younger Griese, with 3 losing seasons and 2 9-7 season following – leading many of the original SB champs to leave – remmeber Keyshawn Johnson actually was canned for insulting Gruden about the SB not being about Gruden.

Dungy was canned becuase his O could never get it done – he goes to Indy and wins one becuase they had a great O and needed a little D –

Ried looks confused? Really – you think that up by yourself – to me he has two looks, hungry and hungrier (get in my belly…….. one for the Austin Powers fans) Use Ronnie Brown in the RZ – have you watched Ronnie Brown run lately??? Really – he has I think I am McCoy dancing feet –

navyeaglefan
navyeaglefan
September 29, 2011 11:30 am

Now I am in no way shape or form syaing Ried should be fired – I think all of you that post that should put the crack pipe down and step back, your teeth are going to fall out……..

But – have an original thought – Take a look at two outstanding College coaches – Brady Hoke of Michagin and P Johnson of G Tech. Both coaches have done nothing but build winning programs and when they move up they make the next level program better.. give him some time but Rocky Long from SDSU….

Want a pro coordinator – Look at the DC for the Cowboys – the other Ryan Brother. We have a lot of weapons on O and having a HC after 13 years that focus on D…….

(see original thoughts – not rehashed garbage – find anywhere else other then from me that listed these three as possible replacements for Ried)

September 29, 2011 11:39 am

@ navyeaglefan: Gruden has the ability to adjust. He did it with TB and he tried to adjust to the Raiders despite (Al Davis). Something Reid does not do. And who wants to hear a Head coach say 2 weeks in a row, this early “we thought that was the best decision at the time but….um…..um……um, it um wasn’t” LOLOL And if Brown touched the ball more in the RZ and 3 and shorts, or 4th and 1s…..he’d be more effective when he’s called on. The Giants and Cowgirlz use their RBs throughout the game!! by the way the “Austin Powers” comment, awesome. But the point is…..enough of the corny trick plays, and hiding your mouth with that whack azz, predictable play sheet. Get Great or Get gone!!

navyeaglefan
navyeaglefan
September 29, 2011 11:53 am

Still – I just ain’t feeling you on Gruden – – he did OK with the Raiders and Rich Gannon – was traded to the Bucs – won a Sb and then ran them into the ground – his ‘adjustments’ did not win. He went from 12-4 SB champ his first year to losing record second year, and during the next few years he had 3 losing season two 9-7 season and one good year but got beat 1st rd of playoffs and was fired –

I have posted my 3 favorites for potential future Eagle HC – though I think it will most liekly be for AR health issues then him being fired – I will stick with my choices

As for RB – possible but I actually want to see more of this Lewis from Pitt – I like Wannstad products (he is not on my list but I think would do well in Philly as a coach – damn – I gotta stop thinkin like some of you)

What’s up with ‘the Vick’?…First, he breaks his hand; then, wait, it’s just a ‘contusion’…Then the refs are getting him killed…Last time I looked, just about every NFL QB gets his ass whipped pretty good on Sunday…

And what did DeShaun Jackson say?…Something like ‘if Vick is hurt, we’re done!…’…Something like that?

Like all major sports, it’s a team game…When a guy goes down, the other guys step in to pick up the slack…’We’re done’?

Castillo is looking a bit shaky in some of his sets, but we expected that…No stud LB…Reid, he always confuses me with his decision making.

The Eagles thought they could just show up, and the Giants were done…No.

frankdialogue
September 29, 2011 1:40 pm

Oh yeah, one more thing: Now, we have a nice set of backs: McCoy, Brown, Schmidt and that rookie scat back from Pitt…He’s damn good.

BUT ANDY REID CANNOT DESIGN A SERIES OR A VARIETY OF RUNNING PLAYS THAT WILL BE EFFECTIVE…Or he either will not allow or will hire an assistant who will get the running situation straightened out.

had you asked before this year I would have said Harbough now with San Fran – I knew him when he was HC at U of Sn Diego –

also like the new coach at SDSU Rocky Long……..

throw in a dark horse that I might be the only one that likes him – Dave Wanstadt former HC at Pitt I guess is now being a coach I think in Buffalo?!?!? maybe – his players coming from Pitt always seemd NFL ready (my own subjective opinion)

Frank d – you do realize that the eagles are now the #2 rushing team in the NFL – averagin over 180 a game – more then the viking and only 3 yards behind the raiders…….. and the # 6 ranked O in the NFL………

You do realize McCoy is the leading rusher in the NFC – and #2 behind only MCFadden in the NFL –

Damn son – if Ried could EVER have effective running plays…. and McCoy is in the top 10 in rushing attempts and is avergaing 20 carries a week – the leaue lead is 22………………………

Damn Frank D – if ONLY (again someone, anyone with an original thought that isn’t some regurgitated mash of gripes from past years….)

Anyone know where I can find the stats for third and short and 4rth and short to see percentages for those stats –

P Johnson (Though a outstanding Program builder and teacher) still runs the Wing T and the Option Offense which wourks in COllege but does not translate in the NFL.. His QB’s at Georgia Tech and Navy throw about 10-14 Passes a game off of the fake Options.. He a great guy and character builder but not an NFL Coach..
I am not too familiar with Hoke at Michigan
Rob Ryan has been an DC For 3 Teams in the lat 5 years and all the teams were not winners or playoff teams.. (Raiders/Browns/ and let’s see with the Cowboys)

A couple of College Coaches who I think can be successful at the NFL Level in the right situations would be the following

#1) Bob Stoops – Oklahoma
#2) Al Golden – Miami and formerly Temple (in 2-3 years time)
#3) Urban Meyer – Retired right now
#4) Les Miles – LSU
#5) SKip Holtz – Central Florida (in 2-3 years time)

A couple of Assistants or Former Coaches in the NFL who could be NFL Coaches again and are not too old or removed from the game like Dungy,Cowher and Gruden are beginning to be

Jeff Fisher,Mike Tice, Eric Mangini, O/Coordinator Chudzinski, O/Coordinator Shottenheimer, Mke SIngletary, Mike Martz , D/Coordinato
P Jewell, D/Coordinator D Capers, LB Coach M Trgovac, Butch Davis, and I am sure countless others…

Wannstadt was a good recruiter and many of his players transition to the NFL game for he ran NFL Schemes and formations similar to Butch Davis in North Carolina and Coach Saban down at ALabama .. So these players coming out are familir with terminologies, formations, repsonsibilities, etc,etc a lot more than let say PAul Johnson’s players from an OPtion Offense at Georgia Tech or the Coach frmo Oregon who runs the SPread, no huddle offense at Oregon…
As far a Game Coach, Wannstadt was horrible while coaching the Miami Dolphins and at Pitt.. The Pitt Panthers should have been a Top 15-20 Team with all the talent they have had the last 5-7 Years.. He is terrible sideline coach in my opinion but would make probably a very good Defensive Coordinator is it’s sometihing he wanted to do.. I really thought he would be the Coach at Pitt for the next 10-15 years but let too many games get away every seasons .

paulman
paulman
September 29, 2011 2:36 pm

I like both Harbaughs very much too and would like to see Jim from the Ravens land in Philadlephia at some point but that’s unlikely to happen..

As far as the big names that are always mentioned Gruden,Dungy,Cowher, etc, etc these guys after 2-3 years removed are just not the same , I think that Coaching in the NFL is such a time consuming, almost an addictive type of occupation that once your out of it for a while, it’s tough to have that enerfy and that passion that Coaching in the NFL requirs, the old school guys have more of a problem readjustisting to the young players, the media and all the distractions that go along with Coaching a Team.. Just like the NFL has become a young mans game, it’s Coaches I believe ,also reflect this and once in your late 40’s and 50’s with growing Children and a lot of family demands, it becomes a toll.. Lot’s of these older Coaches like to coach and teach which is there passion, but all the other requirements of the media, the fans, the players off the field issues and the travel and image to uphold is not something they like one bit..

The running game isn’t the problem guys! They actually have a good running game with a great back! It’s the idiocy of this coaching staff & the play calling! They run at the wrong time, they pass at the wrong time, use the personnel wrong, draft the wrong personnel, ignore/ undervalue positions of need, change players positions that they can’t play, in game adjustments, challenging play’s(last in the NFL since Reid era; documented fact), stubbornness, arrogance, etc., etc. IT WILL NOT CHANGE, NOR GET BETTER, UNTIL REID & HIS MORONIC CRONIES ARE GONE! DCar – “challenging play’s(last in the NFL since Reid era; documented fact) —— REALLY? Wait, that’s in direct contradiction to what Navy posted twice – that Reid is above league average (he posted that average too) and that Billicheat is the League worst. NOW – if you’re talking about a stat you saw that refers to since the initiation of challenging in the NFL (because the Reid era started BEFORE that – a sign that you’re just talking out of your ass) – that would be one thing because it’s possible Navy’s stats only pertain to this season or something. BUT if you’re just making shit up and saying “documented fact) – THEN I POINT OUT WHAT A TOOL YOU ARE.

Actually DCar you jackass – the comments made during those interviews were the Ried threw the flag the LEAST – The LEAST not that he had a bad percentage – here you go – from

PHILADELPHIA – Andy Reid hangs onto that red challenge flag more than any coach in the NFL, so it’s no surprise he didn’t throw it following a questionable interception during the Eagles’ 35-31 loss at Atlanta last Sunday night.

The Eagles have had fewer challenges than any other team since Reid became head coach in 1999.

you do understand the difference between the percentage of calls overturned and the number of times throwong the flag – right –

navyeaglefan
navyeaglefan
September 30, 2011 12:08 pm

When it comes to throwing the red flag, some coaches are more careful than others. New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick is the most inefficient challengers. He ranks 32nd among all coaches with a 24 percent success rate.

For perspective, the NFL average is 39.3 percent.

Again – if you have ever wtached Belicheck speak on this topic – he clearly states he doesn’t care about the timeout –
