Shady McCoy Down With The Flu, Still Wait And See On Graham

The guy everybody’s talking about today at the Nova Care Complex, LeSean “Shady” McCoy was sent home by the Birds training staff because he’s got the flu. He’s not practicing today, but they’re not concerned about him being ready to play on Monday night.

Andy Reid and his players know that they’ve got something going which could be special. Everyone is aware of their deep passing game with DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin, now they’ve shown their ability to move the ball and put points on the board when teams decide to take that away.

The Eagles are still playing wait and see with second-year defensive end Brandon Graham. Reid said he will observe his work this week in practice. They’ll probably take their sweet time in activating him and give him as long as they can to get himself ready to contribute.

I talked to Graham and he said he’s getting used to Jim Washburn’s “Wide Nine” pass rushing alignment. Jason Babin intimated that the Birds have already put in their strategy for the Bears running game, which is led by Matt Forte. Reid had a lot of praise for Forte today.

Big Reid said Forte is having a “Phenomenal Year” and he’s continuing what he did at Tulsa as a college running back. Middle linebacker Jamar Chaney said their Eagles number one job will stopping Forte, then putting the pressure on Jay Cutler. He said Forte is faster than you think because of his long stride.

NY Giant halfback Bradshaw has a fractured foot.

Just read that Erock
That’s a a killer for the Giants for other RB Jacobs can’t play every down is not the blocker and pass receiver that Bradshaw is.. Who is the 3rd RB for the Giants, for Jacobs does not have the stamina to stay out there for 10-12 plays in a row..
Cowboys ILB S Lee is out for at least 2-3 Games with sprained wrist and has a Cast on and may miss the rest of the 2011 Season as well as CB M Jenkins out 3-4 Weeks with hamstring
Cardinals QB K Kolb out also with an ankle injury I believe and will not play this week and the following week versus the Eagles is still up in the air..
Not to wish Injuries on any players or teams, but the Eagles have had more than their fair share in recent seasons..

And they have the Pats this week – followed by the 9ers, then us, then NO and GB –

We have chicago – arizona – giants – NE then seattle and Miami – schedule really plays out well for us the rest of the year if team plays like they did last two games – no reason, even after 1-4 start not to win NFC east

Erock – story I read said in Vegas the eagles are the team with the 4rth highest odds to win SB – Packers #1 then two AFC teams (Pitt and NE I think) –

ask me after the giants game – if we handle the next 3 I will say yes but want to see a few more games before I get ‘SBish’ (though the fan in me sez – #2 – bullshit – we are and always will be #1)

– yea I seen that..they were talking how the Eagles match up the best to GB than any other NFC team…I don’t want to get ahead of myself though, so I’m a hold off on commenting right now. One game at a time…

Eagles do match up well with Packers,Saints and the Patriots
I am not so sure they match up as well with the Physical teams like the 49ers,Giants,Lions,Steelers,Jets,Ravens and even the Bengals.. Time will tell

I want Bradshaw to play this coming sunday so the injury does not get rest.

This way he’ll definately slowed or out altogether when they face the Eagles.

This move tells us the Giants are afraid of dropping any games with the Eagles 2 games back may be in panic mode.

Pman – Jets only one of those left on sked – (I think we spank the giants next go round) Sorry Jakey – didn’t mean to get you excited –

On Graham – I am thinking he gets activated at the last minute and they cut Hunt (I think it should be Page) and then sign Hunt to Practice squad – any thoughts

Songs – I don’t know if panic is right – but damn – that has got to hurt to have a busted bone in foot – and he has had problems before – but I think the Giants realize they have a tougher road, eagles just can’t make mistakes

Is anyone concerned about Shady playing this week? Having the flu 4 days before a game doesn’t seem good to me.

I think Graham is not activated to the following week for the Cardinals Game
and it’s between DE P Hunt and or Safety J Page as the most likely player to be released to make room for him (possibly even Juqua Parker) or maybe a player like D Tapp goes on the IR list since he’s been injured for a while now..
I am not so sure that you can sign a released player (Hunt) back to the Practice squad this late in the Season if he has accured 4 Weeks of Active Roster Duty..
I may be wrong about this and maybe someone else knows those Practice Squad rules….

I can beat a flu in 4 days, and I’m fat and 30… if shady cant in 4 days, then he has bigger problems 🙂

I don’t know the rules at all – I just don’t see us going down to 3 safeties unless they think they can put ASMO or someone else back there –

Forgetting about Colt Anderson .. The Eagles are currently carrying 5 Safeties
Allen,Coleman,Page,Jarrett and Anderson..
Anderson is too valualbe on Special Teams so it has to be Page I believe
They currently only have 5 DE’s in Cole,Babin,Parker,Tapp & Hunt and could activate Graham to give them 6 DE and release J Page to get to 4 Safeties which is probably the smartest move (especially since Tapp is still injured and it may take 2-3 more weeks for Graham to get in primo Football shape)

You are correct – they do have 5 – forgot about CA – I remember asking a while back has anyone actually seen Anderson play Safety – could we cut page and still count on Anderson to play safety should the need arise – go ahead – insert joke about how can he be any worse then Page here – I like that plan

Graham is probably “almost” ready like Justice for the opener. I’de love to see him get on the field, but don’t expect to see him for a few more weeks.
There is some excitement for the team now the personel seems to be used more logically and Castillo is getting a feel for the games.
On paper it looks like the Eagles can keep a safety in the box all game to shut down the Bears, but nothing seems to be that easy in the NFL.
